Oh, thank you for continuing the old rumors from the Kennedy era in the 1960s. I was born and raised in the northern panhandle of WV, ( steel mills area), got a good public school education, went to WVU and got my doctorate in science education. It allowed me to get a job writing training materials and certifying instructors for high-tech companies and astronauts. No too bad for a 'hick.'

West Virginia...Home of Katherine Johnson, one of NASA's African American FEMALE "human computers" whose calculations of orbital mechanics (including launch and reentry trajectories, launch windows, and emergency return paths) were critical to the success of the first and all subsequent crewed space flights up to and including the Space Shuttle program. When it was discovered that the IBM 7090 computer calculations for the launch and reentry trajectories of John Glenn's Mercury 7 space mission were flawed, Johnson corrected the calculations faster than the actual computer could. Particularly because there were problems with the heat shields on the space capsule, her corrections to the IBM computer's miscalculations for reentry more than likely saved lives. Hillbilly? Mmmmm... not so much.

It may have a branch of the University, the the main, original campus is in Morgantown.

I can say that West Virginia does not have neighboring Pennsylvania's 4.5% inheritance tax. And the property taxes are much lower. I hope to visit Morgantown in a few weeks -- looks promising.

It's an old city and they have not widened the roads in the old part of town. I went to the university for my degrees and got a good education. The part of the country (including Eastern Ohio) uses salt to melt the snow and ice, and that really tears up the roads and cars. As for the Stadium being across from the Children's Hospital, I agree that probably wasn't the best idea, but the Stadium was there first. And there was not much room left to build the Children's Hospital to keep it near the rest of the Med Center and Med School.

Absolutely! That’s exciting to hear! Personally, i think West Virginia does have many similarities to Washington state in that the weather is fairly mild but very rainy. The pace is a bit slower because there aren’t as many big cities. Being originally from Denver, it was a big adjustment when we first moved out here but we’ve come to adore the area and I’d definitely recommend it! Hi! Congratulations and welcome to Morgantown! If you already have a living situation organized then first thing I would recommend doing after you move is check out the whole area by car (either with a rental car, buy a car, or get a ride from someone) just to see the whole area - it was so beneficial to me when I first moved year to drive around and understand the difference parts of morgantown and also come to see how many hills there are and it’s layout. Coopers Rock state park is a beautiful place if you’re looking for some cool photos to send back to your family about your new area! It has beautiful canyon views! Hope this helps!
