What does Morgantown and surrounding areas offer for retired seniors?

I lived in Morgantown since the early 1970's & I've seen it evolve over the decades. It is not the humble city I grew up in and enjoyed as a teenager, after the 1990's development outpaced the roads and infrastructure. Dense wooded areas have been replaced by urban development & student housing. And downtown?, don't walk the street after dark unless you have some friends with you. I'm moving as soon as soon as possible and not looking back.

I visited Morgantown when my Grandson was born in April. I found the streets to be very poor, narrow and confusing. People honked at me for not going through the light when I had no idea where I could turn. I was always afraid that I would either drive off of the road or get hit for driving too slowly. It was odd to see the Stadium right across the street from the Children's Hospital. And when I attempted to venture out to Walmart, the roads were riddled with potholes and felt very unsafe. I am from Ohio where it is flat. I could never imagine living in an area with so many hills and trees. I am sure it is a very beautiful place for many people, but it is not for me. And the Real Estate agent is hot. Just wanted to say that. That would be the only reason to move there.

Have always wanted to move here. Can you live here without a car? Like just using bus and that rail to get to work? If you have time to answer, that would be great. Looks like a cool college town! WV is under rated, for sure!
