Planting Hyacinths and Tulips in a Container
You really transformed that area into a lovely place for the plants 🙂
Hi from Ireland:) fantastic video thanks! Very interesting plant and you took care of it so well 🙂
Hi, this is an interesting video. Could you tell us how you cut such a nice neat hole in the lid of your water butt and also where you got the filter from that goes in the lid of your water butt. Thank you.
Hi 🙂 Thanks for watching. I got the filter from eBay: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/195883810858?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=uv-zkhrnqly&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=sqtbV5n1QB2&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY they're designed for IBC's - and my other half cut the hole in the lid for me! I think he used one of those circular drill bit saws.
Really appreciate this. I've got a similar problem - many thanks.
No worries - the hose pipes didn't work very well in the end - not enough pressure for the water to flow out so I'm going to be replacing it with a single larger flexible hose!
Hi, great video. Can you please share where you got the filter from?

Wonderful Summer tour. Your garden looks so pretty. The blue/purple Delphinium is my favourite. I really struggle growing them from seed unfortunately. The Veronica is also another favourite of mine and looks beautiful in your border. The wall looks like it has always been there and is perfect. Thank you for sharing 🌻
Thanks very much 😊 I do like that bluey purple colour too. I just sowed way more delphiniums than I needed and hoped a few made it through! 🤞🏻 Thank you! I wasn't too sure about that wall! 😁 🧱 🌻
I watched you all last year build your garden and loved it..but this year youve taken it to another level! I have once again watched every video thos year and have thoroughly enjoyed watching it change and flourish through the seaaons. Absolutely amazing! Ps. Love the little wall and the fantastic pops of blue paint
Thanks so much for your lovely comment and for following along on my gardening journey - really appreciate it, it's great to hear that you've enjoyed it 😊
You certainly pack a big punch in your little garden. It looks very pretty. We lost a tree to Lillian, it was a very old elder full of ivy already leaning, I was expecting to lose it but probably in winter. I love how much you grow from seed. Greenhouse envy 😅 Thanks for the tour.
Hi Tracey, thanks very much 🙂 Oh no! that's a pain - always worse when there's a storm when the trees are full of leaves - was a challenge driving to work that morning and the neighbours trees were banging on our roof (they need pruning!). I do like to make the most of the greenhouse! Already planning what I can squeeze in there for next year 😂 🌼
🤣🤣 echium reminds me of Marge Simpsons hair
I can see that! 😂
Oh lord September 😮 already. The flower garden is looking stunning Gen ❤ so many fantastic looking varieties. Have a simply amazing September in the garden, Ali 🌞🇨🇦
Thanks Ali 🙂 I know - It's come round so quick! Noticing how dark it is in the mornings now, need to make the most of the warm weather while it's still here☀️ I'll be putting the garden to bed for winter before I know it! 🥶 Hope you have a great September 😁
Thanks for the lovely tour, I think your planting schemes are beautiful. Good job with the brick laying, it's not as easy as it seems😊👍❤️
Thanks Michelle 🙂 The bricks were a bit of a challenge - luckily it was only two bricks high! 🤣
Thank you 😊
Thanks for watching! 😁 🌸
Im no expert, thank you for sharing.. could put small holes along the hosepipes to water all the plants evenly 😊
Sounds like a great idea! Thanks for the tip 🙂 the hosepipes didn't really work so I've bought some bigger pipe that should work a bit better so will be redoing the video soon hopefully! I will definitely be adding holes as you've suggested to help spread out the water a bit!
Hi there, newly subscribed to your channel. Love the stepping stones, where did you get them? Garden looks so pretty. Can we have a tour please? 🌻
Hello! Thanks so much for subscribing 😊 I found the stepping stones on Etsy, a shop called hidden corners based in Devon, I'm loving them so far! Yes a tour is on the way! I filmed one a couple of weeks ago but it's taking me a while to get the video out 🤦♀️ hopefully won't be too much longer - thanks for the encouragement - glad you like the garden 🙂
I can see why you're happy, it looks great. Love those stepping stones what a excellent way to protect the lawn and help insects. Im sure the family of bees will appreciate them.
Thanks Tracey 🙂 The lawn does seem to be faring better without me trampling all over it! 😂 Loving my new stepping stones 😊
Fab stepping stones and Runty approved. I would if easy enough take them inside too, things just last longer if we look after them. We have wasps making homes all over and we normally just leave them as they are in,y in the nest one season. But if they are staying yikes 😳. Awesome job it’s looking fab. Have a super week, Ali ☁️🌞🇨🇦
Thanks Ali 🙂 I've found they make a good spot to feed Runty too! 🐢 Taking them inside to protect them sounds like a good idea ❄️ I'll do that 👍🏻 thanks. That sounds like a lot of wasps! The bees moved on in the end luckily 🐝 Hope you have a great week!
Great vlog, what a brilliant idea those insect friendly stepping stones are. Grass looks really good 😊
Thanks very much 😊 I was happy to find those stones, they're a bit smaller then normal stones too so suit my garden a bit better!
What is that lawn mower? It looks like a hovercraft.
It's a Flymo - floats on air just like a hovercraft! Very light and good for small spaces 🙂

Looks fabulous. Great seeing how it has developed since May. Really enjoyed watching, thank you. 😊
Thanks Tracey, glad you enjoyed it 🙂 I like to make the front of the house nice and colourful!
Wow Gen the garden is looking amazing 😻, thanks for the walk about, Ali 🌞🥵🇨🇦
Thanks Ali, the sun's come out this week so can enjoy it a bit now! 🌻🌞
Lovely chillin' video, thank you 😊
Thanks 🙂 was going for a more relaxed vibe!
You need to connect another water butt to it with a connector pipe. Boom !
That was great seeing the development over the spring to early summer. Really enjoyed watching. Amazing amount of seedlings from a small greenhouse! Fabulous. Looking forward ro the explosion of all theblooms. 😊
Thanks very much Tracey, glad you enjoyed it 😊 Looking forward to the blooms too - every time I see new flowers coming out in the garden I get excited! 😄🌸🌺🌼🌺
Amazing what a bit of sunshine and warm days will do for a garden. It’s all looking amazing Gen 👍👍. Have a super week, Ali 🌞🇨🇦
Thanks Ali 🙂 it has been nice to have some warm weather after all the rain! ☀️ I've been sitting out in the sun listening to all the birds 🐦🐦 Hope you have a great week 👍
Wow the difference in a few months! Looking forward to seeing it establish more as it already looks lovely 🌼⚘️🪻
Thanks so much 🙂 - I'm enjoying watching it all grow! 🌱🌼
Magic, so much from a small space, it really is impressive. Thank you 😊
Thanks very much for your lovely comment 🙂 I do try and make the most of my little space, hoping the plants won't try and grow too big! 😂
Thanks so much 🙂 I always seem to be finding new plants to squeeze in 😂 your delphiniums sound very impressive! I bet they look lovely, hope you have a good summer too ☀️
Really enjoyed watching your video! Your garden is looking lovely, can’t wait to see it late summer. Runty ❤️
Thanks so much - glad you enjoyed it😀Runty has woken up a bit and is exploring the garden a bit more now it's warmed up a bit! 🌞🐢
Wow.. definitely going to try !
Thanks! It's taken a while but I've enjoyed watching it grow 🙂 good luck!
Brilliant, well done. I love these plants, nearly as much as the bees do :)
Thanks very much 🙂 I am enjoying it flowering away in my little garden 🐝
well done. im on my 5th year of failing to get one to flower south west scotland. though the park down the coast from me gets away with it. gulf stream helps them i think. not giving up .
Thanks 🙂 the mini greenhouse...and the heater... and the bubblewrap is what did it 😂 was a bit of a palavar though! Going to try and grow it on in a big pot this year and keep it the greenhouse overwinter. Very best of luck with your echium mission up in Scotland! 🤞
@@scattywoo the giant cotton thistle is also quite intresting to grow. cheers
I'll check it out - thanks!
Wow amazing. I also bought that very same mini greenhouse, I only take it out though in late winter for growing perennials.
Thanks 🙂 it definitely saved it and was the perfect size! I've been wondering what else I could use it for 🤔
That's absolutely bonkers! I love it, well done.
Thanks so much! I've already started growing one for next year though I'm going to try and just grow it on in a big pot so I don't have to do the whole tent thing! 😂
What are the light pink flowers growing in the corner ? They're so pretty
They are Clematis 'Osmoshiro' they've just finished flowering - I've been deadheading them to help get another flush! 🤞🌸
That's amazing! Pure dedication, what a success.
Thanks so much! It's quite satisfying when all works out! 🐝
Oh wow that is huge how do you stop it from falling over like the tower of Pisa 😮. Glad it’s sun in g even the caterpillars 🐛. Have an amazing week ahead I hope it’s warm and dry, Ali 🌧️🌧️🇨🇦
I was a little bit nervous when we had some stormy days but I've been pleasantly surprised by how well it's supported itself! It's been quite wet here recently but at least it saves on the watering! Hope you have a great week too and those pesky slugs don't eat anything else! 👋
Remind me never to get into a sunflower growing challenge with you
😂 that's a good idea for next year! A giant sunflower! 🌻
That is amazing, what a success, well done 😊
Thank you very much 😊
My advice in future would be to buy some 40mm push fit waste pipe and a tank connector so you can run it into the nearest drain if you have one. That way if the tank gets overwhelmed during a heavy downpour it’ll be less likely to overflow as the diameter of the pipe will be able to carry more flow rate. Think when I did mine I used a 48mm hole saw for the tank connector itself because the thread was slightly larger than the pipe connection. Best of luck 👍🏻
That purple one ajuna? Is a creeper and it will take over the garden for miles (I have one no wait a thousand now).
Thanks for the warning! I bought a tiny plant last year and do seem to have quite a bit of it now! I'll be keeping a close eye on it 🧐 with a spade nearby! 😂
Love the brick hammer, "necessity is the mother of invention"
haha thanks, I couldn't find the rubber mallet I thought I had 🤦🏻♀️ so went for the next best thing! 😂
Oh lord Gen if I took out all our moss I’d have no lawn 😂😂. It took over a few years ago and other than chemicals it’s a never ending job so we let it be 🤷♀️. Isn’t everything in the greenhouse 🤔 somewhere. I like your hammer. Should look lovely and hopefully Runty will keep the slugs away with his fierce face 🤭. Have an amazing weekend and hopefully you get lots of 🌞, Ali 🌞🇨🇦
Hi Ali 👋 I think the moss is just an excuse for me to get more plants in my garden! 😂 Haha yes it is! I was sure the rubber mallet was somewhere in there too....🤦🏻♀️ Runty does make a good guard tortoise! 😂 🐢 Thanks very much hope you have great weekend yourself, it has been quite nice and sunny this week ☀️ and looks like it's staying for the weekend too 🤞
Runty looks like his inspection has begun. Hope he approves. I was thinking it'll be interesting to see how it goes and then there it was. The spreaders may emerge together nicely. I have that campanula it spreads really well. Hope it pulls through. 🐢
He does seem to like his new area 🙂 he's been enjoying burying himself at the back of the bed where the soil is loose now. Still no signs of life on that campanula 🙁 maybe I'll just leave it with the spreaders for now and see what happens. Thanks for watching 🙂 I've been enjoying learning more about wildlife on your channel 🐝
Hello from my homestead in northwest Florida USA. Happy Gardening!
Hi Maggie! 👋 Thanks very much for watching and subscribing 😁 ooh I see you have a channel, I'm gonna watch a few of your videos! Happy Gardening to you too!
Lovely update Gen but I sure hope the rain stops soon. It is all over the place here too from freezing nights to insane rain then sun 🤦🏼♀️. Well it’s out of our hands so we just get in with it 😅. Have a super week, Ali 💨🌤️🥶🌧️🇨🇦
Thanks Ali 😊 The weather has been a bit confusing! Its hard to know what to do when in the garden 😂 We had a -2 a couple of nights ago and it was 19 and sunny yesterday! Seems like it might be warming up a bit this week , so hopefully some nice weather for gardening 🤞 🌼🌞
Great catch up. Your clematis do so well with all the feed. The mossy area may suit a few bog plants as it's naturally so damp. Looking forward to seeing your other beds developing.
Thanks Tracey - hoping it will give me lots of flowers! After the warm day yesterday a couple of the flowers on the big clematis starting opening and some of the echium flowers are starting to come out too - I get so excited every time I see a new flower in the garden! 😆 Thanks for the tip 👍 😊
😊
Enjoyed the catch up. I never think to look at the heights plants reach, i have a reasonable size garden but something I should do. Seed planting again today so ill be checking. My cosmos are all up Ill bechecing the heights later ready for planning the final planting positions. Love your jumper 🌈 😊
Thanks, my mum knitted that jumper for me 🙂 I'm careful not to get it too muddy! 🤣 Sounds like you're growing lots of nice flowers for your garden 🌸 I always seem to think things will take up less room than they do! 🤣 but I also quite like the beds being quite full.
Oh cool I have the non light version and they are very handy and I like that I can see the roots. I did dwarf cosmo 😂 as mine last year were invasive, yes there is a zinnia called Lilliputian here and it’s supposed to be smaller 🤞. I love Lillie’s they are beautiful and normally spread every year. Have a super week it’s nice to see yiu back in the garden, Ali 🥶🌞🇨🇦
The see through trays are handy! I keep checking the roots to see whether they're ready for potting up yet. Dwarf sounds like a good plan - thanks for the heads up! Things never seem to grow quite as tidily as I picture in my head 😂 Is it warming up a bit in Canada now? It's been quite windy here lately 💨
@@scattywoo this week has been super cold mornings 2c 🥶 and by afternoon it’s 17+c 🤦🏼♀️. My daughter is visiting the UK and said Dublin right now is really windy 🌬️
