    Dangerous? Not to be contentious but I've never thought of manually removing a beaver dam as dangerous. The release of water is more gradual than using an excavator, so it's not like a major sudden wall of water is released. I've cut 4 ft high ones with no worries. The main dangers I've seen are back injury from pulling large limbs in awkward positions and cotton mouths or copper head snakes, which love to hide up in the back of the dams among the jumble of bracing sticks. Gotta watch out for those. Also, you'll have a lot easier time of it if you toss out every bracing stick from the back side before releasing the water. I've got a couple of homemade tools that are far more effective than the ones you're using. I'll check your channel for contact info and send you some pics if there is an email address there, if not, post it and I'll send them. They are easily built if you can weld or have a buddy who does. I have tried every tool the box stores sell and none of them work as well.

    Hi Paul lm from Australia so we dont have beavers here that l know of. Just wanting to know why you did not remove all the dams blackages , you only seemed to open them a little bit why not clear them completly?

    • @trapperpaul1379
      @trapperpaul1379 4 года назад

      Hey john! I just tried to remove enough that it would effectively drain the pond. I just do this as a hobby, and have never charged anyone for trapping. It’s pretty time consuming to pull the entire dam. So I just pull a portion so the landowner is happy.

    • @TheBrushcutter

      I've "removed" them with a .177 pellet from a Benjamin air pistol. .22 long rifle also works well. Depends on how much patience you have and accuracy, always, accuracy. Other than those choices, conis aren't all that expensive when compared to the value of one big drowned oak tree. Easiest trap on earth to use.
