Because it sells a nearly a million units a year and all the safety features in the world can't protect you from yourself. If you normalize for sales volume you it is the safest car in the world.

honestly couldn't agree more. people just want to nitpick. however, i have driven one and the true achilles heel of this vehicle is the range and also the stigma around it. lol. although not warranted, it is pinata people want to hit. what do you think?

@@revautogroup32 Other people's opinions have no bearing on reality and I couldn't care less what other people think, so range is its only achillies heel, and that will only limit a fairly small percentage of buyers. People way overestimate how far they drive or how far away things are. When I give people an actual example of how far you can get in an EV (from our closest city to the next closest big city and back again - people know that drive and how long it takes) they're like "Oh... Really?... Yeah... That's a long way." Or they give me an example of a day they might have with what they think is a lot of driving and ask me if an EV could do all that without having to stop at a charger and are shocked when we figure out the distance on Google maps and realize it could not only do that trip just fine, but could do it 3 - 5 times before needing a charge. And when you factor in home charging making it so you just never even need to think about range or charging stations 99% of the time you can see their brain can't even process it and they think there must be some kind of trick or something I'm not saying, as it sounds too good to be true. Then they try to say "well, I have family in this way far off rural area, I couldn't drive there with an EV." and I pull up the map of charging stations or Tesla's app and plot the route and show them just how easy it is. They are shocked that not only are there indeed TONS of chargers, but also that you don't need to make a gazillion stops of an hour or two each and that actually it will only take a couple 25 min charging stops to get where they think it's impossible for an EV to go.
