International Surf Therapy Organization
США
Добавлен 21 дек 2018
The International Surf Therapy Organization facilitates research on the high-impact of surf therapy programs from around the world engaging in a collaborative movement to collect data on a global scale so we can advocate our impact and share what works in the surf therapy sector. Through our pillars - understanding (research), sharing, and advocacy we are enabling more inclusive access to safe surf therapy and we envision a world where surf therapy is universally accessible through prescription and financially supported by healthcare organizations. As recently, as this May, doctors have the authorization to prescribe surf therapy through the National Health Service, in the UK this initiates hope for mainstreaming surf therapy into the healthcare system. We recently facilitated the first-ever academic journal dedicated to surf therapy research in the Global Journal of Community Psychology Practice - A Special Issue About Surf Therapy Around the Globe.
KEYNOTE Surf Therapy ~ Is it Really About the Surfing?
CONGRATULATIONS, Jamie Marshall, Ph.D. of Surf Therapy.
Over the last 4 years, Dr Marshall has robustly explored program theory with Surf Therapy, which is the 'why' Surf Therapy has the associated impacts we all see within our work. The research was carried out with organizations worldwide supporting varied populations and in different contexts. This allowed for the exploration and comparison of potentially universal or foundational mechanisms while also exploring elements that may be more contextual. Such concepts include physical and emotionally safe spaces, positive social connections, a respite from negative symptoms/emotions, transferable mastery experiences, and population-specific...

Surfing has always been central to the Native Hawaiian people and today is a cornerstone for Kanaka Maoli identity. Wow
My vet, family doctor and neurologist are all women. One reason, they all LISTEN when I speak. Seven male neurologists either couldn't or wouldn't make sense of my symptoms until the 8th. a woman, figured it out in 5 minutes. Trigeminal neuralgia and Chiari malformation. There's a Harvard study, says female doctors have a 20% higher success rate with long term survival. Does anyone really care what they look like or what they wear?
Amazing, very generous, very helpful. Just got The Code (book) in Colombia, for all the ones who love Surfing, it's a must, but not only for Surfers, it's for everyone. My fisrt feeling after reading the fist couple pages was: If I had read this book at a younger age, I probably wouldn't have made many of the unnecessary mistakes I made growing up. I will share it with as much people as I can, specially young fellows. Thank you for the heart Mr. Tomson, best surfing/life metaphor ever.
Giovanni, Maria y Kris, gracias por su tiempo y admirable labor, muchas gracias por compartir tu experiencia Giovanni, enriquecedora información para todos los que queremos seguir el camino que ustedes vienen trazando.
