Ebben? Ne andro lontana was so beautifully sung that I cried. ❤❤
Thank you!
Who are the performers please ?
Who is the pianist please?
Many thanks ! This appears to be a studio recording, perhaps Neeme Jarvi's one...
In which performance is the recording of the Symphony?
Thank you for this symphony by this recently deceased composer. I hope you will suggest the 7th !
Südantsoojendav vaadata ja kuulata, silmaringi avardav ning hariv! Tänan väga!
Who is playing? The composer himself?
How to get scores?
Slow movements are always most characteristic for early Rääts's opus while fast movements are more like "Räätsstakovich".
Indeed this symphony is very much like the 8th. One wonders how did the original version sound like. I cannot properly give comment to this symphony because of such different approach, similar to Rääts's other late opus. And since the 3rd symphony "returns" to the world of Shostakovich and more of Prokofiev it sounds almost like an alien.
Kui keegi kuulab seda lugu, sellepärast, et muusika õpetaja ütles, siis sa oled legend *PogCamp*
Bravo!!!!
Rääts is one of my favorite composers. His First Concerto for Chamber Orchestra, Op. 16, in five movements, is probably the most frequently played piece of his and I like it very much. So I am very pleasantly surprised to find that I like this second Concerto for Chamber Orchestra, in three movements, even more!
I'm going to take a wild guess that Raats did not continue to offer settings of Marxian texts after the USSR collapsed.
Excellent
Thanks for uploading this brilliant symphony. In my view Jaan Raats and Sergei Slonimsky are easily the greatest living symphonists in the world. Looking forward to the day a complete set of all the Raats symphonies are recorded by a well-known conductor and orchestra. I've been able to buy recordings nrs.5 & 8 and hear recordings of the rest of nrs.1 - 7 on RUclips. Apparently Raats compsoed 10 symphonies. Are there any recordings available of the last two, even if non-commercial or radio recordings, so that we can hear them too?
Brilliant!
Excellent
What a joy I had listening through all the piano trio's of Jaan Raats uploaded on your channel. Thanks for doing so. A truly brilliant set of paino trios.
Magnificent, as always with this great composer
See I'm the first to give this a thumbs up. Hopefully others will wake up to how good Jaan Raats' music is.
Thanks for uploading this great concerto, which for me just further underlines why my Jaan Raats is my favorite living composer of classical music. A true musical genius. Greetings from South Africa
Excellent! Thanks for uploading this.
Wonderful what was the Separate Peace he played at the end
Thank You Paul! Johan Randvere played at the end Jaan Rääts "Toccata"

Would you mind sharing the program of the concert?
Whoops! Meant to write: I assume this is Rääts' Piano Concerto for 4 Hands & String Orchestra, Op. 89? I like it!
I assume this is Rääts' Piano Concert for 4 Hands & String Orchestra, OP. 89? I like it!
It's beautiful! I like this. How can I get this in mp3 or CD?
really classical
I have found out the answer to my own question. Evidently Rääts recomposed the work later on (as Henze did with his first symphony). At the Estonian Music Information Centre (emic.ee) the work is listed as Symphony No. 2, Op. 8/79 (1958/1987).
This is a very nice piece with a distinctive voice that I'll be listening to many times over. But the voice sounds much more like the Rääts of the eighth symphony than the Rääts of the first or third symphony. So, is the piece really symphony 2 as stated, or is it a later piece mislabeled?
