    New to the yj world. So after doing this mod will it be in 4wd all the time or can I still engage it with the 4wd shifter?

    • @FabbedFun
      @FabbedFun Месяц назад

      The 4wd will still be engaged and disengaged at the transfer case. This just keeps the front axle connected to the differential, so when power from the transfer case goes through the front driveshaft, it always powers the front axle. You don't have to wait for the vacuum engagement on the front axle. On cold days, I've been left stuck in 2wd because the CAD wouldn't engage. So the bypass fixes it.

    • @FabbedFun
      @FabbedFun 3 месяца назад

      I believe my Hursts came through Virginia to Tennessee briefly, then up through Kentucky to southern Indiana. We have been in southern Indiana since around 1800 if I remember the timeline correctly. There are some branches of the family tree that spread out from TN and IN. It's possible I'm related to them. There is also some confusion as to the origin of some Hursts. With spelling changes over time, some German origins are confused with English origins. So... maybe... maybe not... lol

    Since almost nobody offers a bucket leveler for the small tractors its only a matter of time till someone borrows it, raises it to high and there goes you hood or worse. To prevent that i made a brush guard for the bucket from a section of mobile home frame. Sloped the top corners just passed the jacks put weld on hooks for chains on the outside edges, 2 D rings for straps on the top corners, and a 2in receiver in the middle, cut a couple round holes to line up with headlights and some 1 1/2 slots in the middle section so i can see whats going on in the bucket. Looks and works great. If you want I'd be glad to send you a pic.

    I actually added bale spears to my quick attach and the bale spears came from Vevor and they are heat treated and very sharp. The spears came with the weld-on bushing like yours and a large retaining nut for each.. I was very impressed with it compared to using the pallet forks.

      Possible? Yes. Healthy? I wouldn't think so. Forcing front tires to turn at the same speed all the time on hard surfaces and at high speeds is not going to end well for the front axle. Lockers and pavement don't usually go well together. I would not do it for a daily.

    Little late to the party but i love this, i have a honda foreman 450 quad so its a manual gear box on, ive algo got a snowplow with a universal frame mount, so i bought a second plow frame and took this idea as a front mount, i had 2 old mowers with 21" deck, welded them to a frame, bolted the tires frome the mower onto the frame at a set deck hight of 2 inches and bolted that frame to the plow mount. Works great for mowin the 1.5 acre of grass i have, still takes a while but is better than walking behind a mower and cheaper than a ride on mower.

    • @FabbedFun
      @FabbedFun 6 месяцев назад

      I love mine for how I use it. I'm sure some people will want a cab, or more electronics. I wanted bulletproof simplicity and weight. For a new tractor in the utility class, you can't get much more simple than this one. I definitely recommend it if that's what you're looking for. The ONLY legitimate complaint I have so far is the shuttle shift is starting to get a little moody... and I don't mean that it isn't working... it just needs to be pushed a little harder into reverse or it may pop out when you start to move. It has only started doing that in the last ten or fifteen hours. There is likely an adjustment on the shuttle shift rod linkage to help, but it hasn't been enough of a nuisance to matter. It's just a conscious decision to make sure it clicks in before you let the clutch out. So really, it's not even a complaint. It just shifts a little easier into forward than reverse, so use a bit of authority to shift and no problem. It's all manual linkage, not hydraulic or electronic - which is what I wanted. It's not synchronized, so it probably doesn't even need adjustment now that I think about it. I just need to make sure it's in. That being said, I LOVE THIS TRACTOR!!!
