Mozart | Fantasia in D Minor K.397
Mozart wrote the bulk of his Fantasia in D Minor (No. 3, K.397) in 1782, but alas, it actually remained incomplete at the time of his death. The original mauscript has not survived, and the final bars have either been lost, or were never actually completed by Mozart. Thus, it has subsequently fallen to others to complete what has become arguably one of Mozart's most popular works for solo piano. As it stands today, the final 10 bars of the piece were probably supplied by German organist, composer and choir director, August Müller, a great admirer of Mozart and his work.

Frédéric Chopin: Waltz No. 10 in B Minor, Op. 69 No. 2
Просмотров 182Год назад
Frédéric Chopin composed this B Minor waltz in 1829, whilst still but a teenager. However, it was not until 1855 that the work was published posthumously by Chopin's friend Julian Fontana, and given the opus number 69 number 2. Overall a rather melancholy piece, the central section in B Major gives a lovely, sweet interlude, before the main minor-key theme recapitulates. Apparently, this is one...

BRAVO!!!!! 🎉❤
Wonderful!
I remember my father playing this by ear. It was the only piece he knew on the piano. One of my favorites. Beautiful rendition, Malcolm. Thank you.
Thank 🌹 YOU 🌹 AMEN
Thank you!
I do love Beethoven and you played it so gracefully.Whenever I hear this piece I think of my late mother -in- law who was the lady who gave Robert his first taste of playing the piano!!
Thank you, Gillian. I'm so glad that you enjoyed it. Rob's camera work and production is always amazing.
Mendlessohn's music has no words, so I'll say something myself!!!I loved its stately composition and enjoyed its calming charm .
Listened again….love it again…love your tempo and each note is perfectly clear and crisp….thank you….

Hi Malocolm. I've just today discovered your channel and after 30 seconds subscribed. You have some wonderful instruments (of which I'm rather envious!) and you must love being able to play period pieces on period instruments. Shhh, don't tell my partner but you've achieved my goal... a large building full of historic keyboard instruments and clocks! I'll look forward to future posts. Regards from North Cumbria.
Thank, Stuart. I'm glad you are enjoying the channel and the instruments. I plan further posts, though I'm running out of space for more instruments, sadly!
Well done! I’d never heard Alex sing before, but this is a beautifully expressive performance. I really enjoyed your medley.
Blessings and Merry Christmas JoyeuxNoel to Everyone🎄💝💒🐑🕯️🤍🕊️🌼🐏😇
Another winner. Great stuff.😊
Thank you, Gillian.
I am not familiar with this piece of heaven but I am glad that I now have a new composer to love. Thank you Malcolm it was a joy as ever.
❤
Hello. Thank you for the really interesting video. I have Broadwood square piano that - I think - dates from the 1840s. How did you go about contacting the Broadwood archive? I would like to do the same.
Dear Michael, Broadwood don't do email, but here is the contact name and address and phone number. They should be able to track the original owner of your instrument from the serial number: Andrew Chase (Archivist) John Broadwood and Sons Ltd Broadwood House Lythe North Yorkshire, YO21 3RT 0777 077 2233 Best wishes, Malcolm
I’d love to find the history on my 1801 and 1829 broadwood. Where did you find your resources on the history of this one?
Hello, Broadwood don't do email, but here are their contact details. They should be able to track the original owners of your instruments from the serial numbers: Andrew Chase (Archivist) John Broadwood and Sons Ltd., Broadwood House Lythe North Yorkshire YO21 3RT 0777 077 2233 All best wishes, Malcolm Archer
A very beautiful instrument both to the ear and the eye, no wonder so many great masters played Broadwoods.
Lovely. A piano professor I know has a Broadwood from this era. He had the hammers recovered (using original stocks) but they came out too heavy, a great disappointment. You were fortunate that the hammers in your pano were still viable although the wear on the treble hammers is a bit audible.
Thank you, Yes, we wanted to re-use the original hammers, and were lucky they were still in good condition.
What a fascinating instrument. It's sort of half way between the pianofortes of the early 1800s - in particular that "clicking" attack in treble, almost like a xylophone - and the full-bore modern pianos. The bass is warm and detailed. Pity that RUclips can only give you a pale imitation of the experience of sitting at an actual piano and playing it (for instance: after listening to recordings of Steinways all my life, so that I never even noticed the sound - OK, it's a piano, heard that before - I walked into a store once and they let me play one - a cheap, beat-up one, only 70 000 $ - and I was blown away. If I'd had the money I'd have bought it...).
Thank you. The tenor and bass are the best features of the instrument, though It all sounds great in this space. Difficult to capture the true sound on a video recording.
A fantastic instrument, sounds rather good indeed!
Wonderfully played! I was lucky to find the original sheet music myself, great piece.
A tender and delightful rendering. Lovely.
To my mind a nice interpretation, but far too much sustaining pedal.
The last time I heard this organ was when we were rehearsing for a recital and your son was crawling amongst the pedals! That was a long time ago!!
All I can say is thank you. I so enjoyed it.
Thank you!
Love it!Love it!LOVE IT! I shall be playing it over and over. One of the best. Thank you.
Thank you, Gillian! There's nothing like Mozart!
Beautiful music, played with so much passion. This piece also sounds wonderful played on an organ.
Well done!
How lovely was that! Another joy to listen to. Keep going with your super recitals. I look forward to every one.
Thank you so much, Gillian.
Magnífico
What a treat to hear you play this. I loved it. Keep doing these and cheer me up !
I'm so glad! Thank you.
Great that you've added a recording of the organ at your Church house. It sounded lovely. Is this the same organ as you had at Wells?
Thank you! Yes, it is the same instrument that I had in Wells.
Absolutely delightful. Can you tell us something about the organ?
Thank you! The organ is built by Vincent Woodstock, and has eight stops, including two pedal ranks and the usual couplers. All on mechanical action.
Wonderful Variations Malcolm, and so appropiate for this weekend of the Coronation. The concluding Fugue is glorious.
Thank you so much!
Bravo
I have just been watching the coronation on TV. I thought your variations on a theme were such fun. Like. Like Like!!!!
Thank you, Gillian, and for all your support for my You Tube videos. Rob does a superb job with the production. A great team!
Thank you, Malcolm. Wonderfully calm start to the weekend!
Thank you, Peter!
Wonderful improv. Many blessing to you and yours this joyful Eastertide.
Thank you Larry! I hope your are both well. Belated and heartfelt greetings.
And to you! Many thanks!
Beautiful. Best thing I ever saw on the BBC's "Songs of Praise" show years ago involved you playing this on the Wurlitzer organ at the Blackpool Tower ballroom - arranged with "I do like to be beside the seaside". That show used to have great music and a sense of humour, but not anymore. I never watch it now but I would if you were on it. What a fantastic player!
Thank you so much ! I'm glad you enjoyed the programme from the Tower. They were great days. In those days there was a brilliant BBC producer called Rowan Morton Gledhill who had great imagination and produced great programmes. We even enjoyed excellent Blackpool fish and chips after the recording and a pint of good English ale!
One of my favourite and your rendering was of a joy as usual. Thank you yet again. Gillian.
Thank you!
Wonderfully played with such emotion and passion. Thank you Malcolm.
Thank you, David! I really appreciate your reactions to my videos. It means a lot.
Made me want to get up and dance but getting up was the hard bit. I just loved it as usual. Thanks again for brightening up my day.
Thank you!
