Thank you so much for the tutorial. Photographed Orion last night with a6500 + Sigma 56mm and tonight with A6500 + old Minolta MC 300mm 4.5 with focal reducer. Tracked both nights 15 and 10 seconds exposures with a couple of hours of data. Hoping to use your videos as the bases for processing both sets of data.
That sounds like an exciting project! It’s great to hear that you’ve captured Orion with different setups over two nights. You’re definitely setting yourself up for some impressive results. 👍🏼 Especially with shorter exposures not to saturate Orions core! Be careful when stretching this region... 😉 I’m glad / I hope the tutorials are proving helpful for your processing. Keep it up and enjoy the process! Clear skies
Thank you for your helpful video!
Thank you very much. Glad it helped
Very Helpful - thank you
Thank so much!
Hallo i have the same scope and a canon 1200d eos what focal reducer can you recomend for deepsky pictures?
Hi. Not sure about it. But there are some CloudyNight post about it. www.cloudynights.com/topic/855772-focal-reducer-for-celestron-127-slt/ and a RUclips video ruclips.net/video/6f6Vyh44Ni8/видео.html Check it out. good luck!
when you see it with your eyes, how does it look, do we have to mount a camera to see those views?
Not sure I understand your question right. You can also observe Mars using your eyes but with less details. When using a camera you have the possibility to enhance details with the proper software. Best wishes
Is his telescope is any good for stargazing without a need for fancy setup or astrophotography. Hope you dint get lost again with what i asked.
Good job...
Thanks a lot!
Can i use a DSLR for pictures of planets like Jupiter and Saturn with this telescope? or do i really need the special camera that you have to be able to pull some decent looking photos? Please let me know, really apreciate it.
Hi! Yes, you can also try that with your DSLR. I recommend using the video mode instead of single pictures. And use the highest possible frame rate and resolution. Thanks for watching and good luck.
I too think Jupiter is fascinating and fascinating to observe visually. Especially in a little more than a month when we get to the opposition. But I don’t believe it doesn’t have a solid core since it is a big comet magnet so to speak.
Yeah. Thanks for the reminder with regard to the opposition. I would love to observe some planets again... Maybe with a little luck with the weather. Jupiters core: That's what I found. You can still have a Hugh mass without a core... But I will double check. I found this super interesting. Thanks for watching! :-) cs
Good job man, I have also M50, have you used M50 with some tracker. In a few weeks I'll get my MSM nomade. Give me som erecommendation to use it with my M50. Thanks a lot.
Thanks! Yes, I used it with a tracker, the Skywatcher Star Adventurer. So cool you'll get your MSM nomads. I would recommend to use a ball head to mount your cam on (if you don't have one already). And then I would just check your test image not to have star trails. Just use the maximum zoom on the M50. (I think it's 10x). I would also make sure you have sufficient power supply for the tracker and the M50 as well (maybe something else than just batteries if possible.) It' s not a "must" but especially when it's getting colder they empty very fast. - And/ or take some spare batteries. It's been a while since I used mine..so most probably I forgot something. But I hope those tips are helpful. Have fun with your tracker. And thanks for watching! :) Clear skies
@@tullyfisher I appreciate your suggestions. The MSM nomad comes with an equatorial wedge + V plate and ball head ☺. I was thinking about switching to a sony fulframe (A7iii). In base on your experience with using a tracker, would that be necessary a FF? What is your favorite lens for astro in EF-M series?, finally what's your setup for astro?. haha there are many questions but on the web I din't find people with M-50 who use it in astrophotography. Thanks bro.👍
cool how much those it cost
I used a Canon EOS M50. You can get one of those including kit lens (15-45mm) for around 300 bucks. You can also use other DSLRs which are even cheaper.

Interesting comparison. It's already incredible that the M3 air can keep with the Windows gaming PC. I bet you that the M3 Max would completely destroy the windows PC
Thanks very much! Yes, indeed it's really amazing to see the direct comparison and the M3 results especially...and without a fan. When I'm on the go I really like the possibility to do some processing (e.g. in the train) and don't have to travel with the heavy and low gaming pc. Are you joining image processing on a windows pc or on a Mac? Just curious how many people are actually using a Mac for astrophotography since most of the "common programs" are windows-based. Clear skies.👍
@@tullyfisher I use both a m3max and a asus scar 16. Surprisingly the Mac is not too behind on stacking, so I’m mostly using it nowadays. Another advantage of the Mac laptop is that their monitors have a very accurate color accuracy, which is critical for photo color balance.
@@physmc1 Oh, really interesting. Thanks for the feedback! Really cool setup with the M3max 👍 Yeah, that's also what I mentioned in the video with the display. Images are looking different on the gaming laptop and my monitor so I always use the Mac retina image as a kind of reference.
Are you happy with the CF80? Is it worth it? Any ca? Coma?
Yes, I'm really happy with the scope itself and the optical quality. I can't see any chromatic aberration at all or real "classic" coma. (That means no "winged" star shapes.) But what I do see when using my ZWO 2600 MC Pro (with big sensor) is star trails to the edges of the field of view/ in the image. Since I crop a little anyways during image post-processing that's not a big thing for me. But I do have to say that the performance of the dedicated flattener/reducer I'm using for this very scope to actually reduce this to an absolute minimum is not what I hoped to be honest. (I have no comparison to other models and/ or manufacturers.) I also have to say that after first inspection of the scope right after unboxing I saw that the focussing knob was a little wobbly. But also have to say: Manual focusing worked fine anyways and now I'm using a ZWO EAF and never had problems. Would I buy it again? In the past yes. Now I would maybe decide for an Askar 102 Apo. Little cheaper, more aperture and I saw some very positive video reviews. Hope that helps! Clear skies and thanks for watching. Michael
Ah..I do have the 90mm actually.. ;)
@tullyfisher Thanks a lot, mate, as it seems all of the models in this price range have the same issues, including Aksar, WO, Altair, TS, etc. It's like Askar produces it all.
You are very welcome. I hope you'll find something fitting for you and your demands. I would be really interested to hear what you decided for in the end. Clear skies!
@@tullyfisher I do tend for the FRA400, maybe FRA500.
Oh you should have waited for the M4 which is coming very soon.
You mean buying the M4 or testing it? I actually made a very good deal for the M3 and I don't intend to buy a new one soon. Also I know many people with a m3 so no worries... And I think most people will work with a Windows PC anyways because of other AP programms. Maybe I will do another one before the M5 is released. ;-) Thanks for watching & clear skies
@@tullyfisher I meant buying. Since you got a good deal then it’s fine. The M4 is a good bump up in performance.
My Macbook pro M1 Max with 64GB ram is much faster than your tests by a huge magnitude. It would be nice to see someone show results with a similar better Maxbook pro as I am experiencing.
@@adamhofmann2769 As you see I tested a M3 not a M1. And those are the numbers. In addition people are not buying M1s so often anymore especially if you want to run intense tasks and the M4 is coming soon most prob. So what's the point?!
I did the Pixinishlght Benchmark test and having the M1 max version with 64GB ram is much faster than any M3 or M3 pro chip. A great option would be for Pixinisght users to buy a used Macbook pro M1 Max. Could buy one for about $1500 vs $6000 for the latest comparable M3 or soon to be released M4 Max. Speaking from experience, the new silicone chips in the new Macbook pro Max versions are blazing fast with Pixinsight.
i read and follow everything you mentioned in comments, descriptions as well as check the video, but still no success for me. StarNet2 is not working for me.
Very interesting video and well done on getting to 1500 subscribers. I have the same scope and never had much luck with Barlows. I get nice crisp images and views with the native focal length, but as soon as I use a barlow they become a bit blurry.
Thanks a lot John! Glad you found it interesting. Yes, I also have had some moments like this with the Barlow lens. I think my 2,25x and 3x is working quite well with it..but also needs some more sharpening than without using a Barlow lens. Hope at least YOU had more chances to do astrophotography recently. Thanks for watching! :) cs
Congrats on 1500 subscribers, good work Tully👍

Just glad i never purchased this. Had the free demo and boy is it so long winded. By the time i got one through the first process i could have five of my stacked images done through Siril and GraXpert. Image quality looks just over processed. Colors don't look natural either. What was the final insult is having to pay out even more for scripts which should be included in the $300+ software!
Hi I followed every step, bu once I close pixinsight and start it back up. I have to reinstall Starnet again?
Hi. Thanks for the feedback and watching my video. From the distance it's hard for me to tell what's the problem. Did you also update Pixinsight? I did an updated video about this matter and StarNet2. Maybe it's helpful for you. ruclips.net/video/zHTnWy2eNIY/видео.html
Great images, but look at 4:36 how much details there is at M82's core in a single 300 sec sub that is wiped out with color saturation in the final image at the end.
Thanks very much for your constructive feedback and the tip with color saturation. Will keep this in mind ....and since this video one year has past and I got better. :)
Hello nice videos. I have that Mak and if i put a full frame camera on it it is not so close view…

Great tuto ! Thanks
Thats great. Thanks so much for you feedback. :)
I've followed the instructions however when I try to open STarnet2 in Processes nothing happens. Any idea? I do have BlurXT
Hmm... Did you install first BX or StarNet2? And did you also update Pixinsight? What exactly is happening, so you can open StarNet2 or is it not opening at all?
Really helpful. Please keep posting.
Really happy about your comment. Thanks so much! I'll do more of those videos in the future.. :) Clear skies
FYI: (3:58) The tensorflow.dll has nothing to do with StarNet installation or usage directly. StarNet installation and usage would also work with that tensorflow.dll. The reason I excluded the StarNet tensorflow.dll is related to some issues I experienced with the BlurXTerminator plugin in the past.
I have followed each step to the letter both from this video and your previous one about PI 1.8.9-2, the main difference being that in this video you say don't replace the tensorflow.dll file with the Starnet file. The result is the same, on my Windows 11 machine, the search within Install Modules will not find Starnet. There is obviously something on my computer preventing the Starnet installation. Looks like I'll have to shell out for StarXterminator after all!
Sorry to hear that. Yes, maybe you are right and it's something with Windows 11 (I am working with Win 10) and/or your specific system. Unfortunately I can't tell what's the problem exactly and how to solve this issue in your specific case. (The tensorflow.dll has nothing to do with StarNet installation. StarNet installation and usage would also work with that one. It's related to BlurXTerminator.) Best regards
@@tullyfisher I have traced the cause of the problem to the processor in the computer. It is an Intel Celeron J4125, which does not support AVX instructions, and so Starnet won't work on it. If anyone else has similar problems it would be worth checking to see if their processor has the same issue.
@@stevehowell5410 Super interesting. That's in fact nothing I thought about with regard to this problem. Thanks a lot for the feedback!
Interesting.
Thank you! 😀
I've followed every step exactly (V1.8.9-3)but Pixinsight will not find the module when searched for.
Hi. It's really hard for me to tell from here. I actually didn't hear about any issues when following this process. Just some things to (double) check: Did you copy in the Pixinsight (PI) "bin" folder? Did you really download the version of StarNet for "PI versions 1.8.9-2 and higher"? I also have to say I did this (as shown in the video) with PI version 1.8.9.2. (not 1.8.9.3) and never tried with the latest PI version since I didn't update PI. Maybe there is a newer version of StarNet on the StarNet website (?). Maybe the team at StarNet also has to update first which may take some time (which was the case in the previous version)...although they mentioned this current version is for "PI versions 1.8.9-2 and higher:". Best regards
Hi there again. I just updated Pixinsight (v.1.8.9.3) myself and did the StarNet 2 update. Everything worked. I also did a new video (actually because of your issues) showing how to update step by step. Hope you like it. The video link: ruclips.net/video/zHTnWy2eNIY/видео.html Clear skies

Huh interesting. For me its been tough seeing or tracking Starlinks. I managed to capture one with my telescope so far though. It was part of a train and unfortunately one of the last in that train lol Interesting also that it was roughly on the same path as iss. It did seem to be moving much faster though, so its orbit would be lower. The simulation though did agree. Pretty cool catch, especially with that ine being launched in 2020.
Hi there! I'm so sorry for my late response (just found your comment today). Cool that you also tracked a single Starlink satellite. Seems that you are more into that. I didn't so any more research about that one. Interesting it was launched in 2020. Unfortunately I never saw a complete Starlink train so far. Thanks for watching and commenting! Clear skies

Never seen somebody use the same tool so many times in one processing session. I wonder if it is all necessary. Noise exterminator like 5 times?
Did I wrong when i think that mount is not as active as skywatcher heq5 mount
What do you mean with "not as active as skywatcher heq5 mount"? The one from the Maksutov is azimutal mount and the heq5 is an equatorial mount.
