C'est Fini sung by Kay Cee Jones
One of my all-time favorite songs, from 1956. It was never issued during its time.

The arrangements on this record are written out; no improvisation. Still an enjoyable feeling to the music!

This is the only recording I have of Reser using a slide, as in slide guitar, on his banjo!
Cornet Solo Remembrance Of Prague by W. S. Mygrant - 1902

A delightful virtuoso solo! My apologies for the first about 1/3; background surface noise because the pressing is literally wiggly off-center!

From 1940. (The outer grooves are somewhat noisy.) The photo is from a 1950's party; Ella with Spike and his wife Helen Grayco. The songs are "I Wonder Where My Baby Is Tonight" and "The Spaniard That Blighted My Life".

A LEGENDARY ICON!!
Jethro and I were friends in his later years. I worked on his mandolins and guitars. He was beyond phenomenal as a player and always had me laughing.
Epic! Bet he had some good stories
Hocka docka skimpity doodle dan - is this guy funny...
Jethro Burns was an excellent mandolin player and frequently performed on other musicians' records.
Peter Potter's assistant is Suzanne Alexander
Tibbett. The BEST!!
God bless her soul
August 30th, that’s today 😰😰😰
Happy Heavenly 100th Birthday Dinah Washington August 29 1924 - December 14 1963
Beautiful version, thank you Dinah Washington.
Homer and Jethro were known primarily for their comedy music, but they were both also considered jazz musicians. Both were awesome when it came to their instruments and the kind of music they could play, and the music that they did play. Not many people would consider playing Take the A Train on a mandolin, but it works. Great musicians, I'm glad their music lives on.
BEETLEBOOOOOOOMB
That was my dad's favorite skit. Beetle Bomb was his favorite phrase to say.
Merci beaucoup from Paris France 👍 👍 👍.
BRAVO NIGGA DIS SHIT IS FIRE YO!!
Doodles was good friends with Don Dokken.
Chet and Jethro were married to twin sisters. Just imagine holiday gatherings.
Jethro was Years ahead of his time. Super talent.. super nice guy. Homer.. Phenomenal talent in his own right. Together.. Legend.
When I was a kid back in high school , I used to play this song on my harmonica on the way home from school .
so great
Reading the wikipedia page of the USS Velocity. Weird to think this disc survived it all! Thanks for sharing!
Whoever said that the banjo could only be a rhythm instrument ? And here this is 1925 !!!
After listening to the nickelodeon play this song , I wanted to hear what it sounded like on a record !
Damn! Didn't know he played drums!
I love Dinah!!!
Considering that this was done in a single take, you have to be impressed that he was able to do this correctly. For anyone who has ever tried to do something this complex, you will understand. For the rest of you, take a dictionary and read through about 10 entries. Record yourself and you will have some idea.
❤
Freddie Morgan had a face made for radio. But he was hilarious
Stunning..
That's my dad on accordion. I'm Joe DiLalla Jr.
In this 1950s recording the strings are steel. In the early 1900s recording they are gut. The gut strings have virtually no sustain to them and sound "thunky". The steel strings have more of a distinctive twang sound to them, as on this recording. The gut strings have a great character to them though.
Perfection
The guitar wasn't plugged in ?😊
Hi. I had the album with kokamunga on it. What album was that on and do you have their song about Rome?
There will never be another Spike Jones, sorry to say. He and his band were one of a kind for true "music lovers".
Freddy Morgan was a decent looking guy but he sure looks goofy in all those scenes with Spike Jones. It all shows he was just so talented as a showman, a comic, and a musician.
She was amazing! Wish there were more live performance videos.
If you did this today, Americans would STILL eat it up!!
This the second time I have heard this song. The first time was early 60s--a talent show at a shopping mall. Young twin brothers sang and danced to this. Thank you.
She was phenomenal
🎉 i loved the song Frankie🎉
зе бест
Деды молодцы были.😮
I've never seen this before. Excellent!
George Rock is the guy with the high voice 😅 TOO funny
He was also Spike’s trumpet player
"Cabbage by a head, and suspenders in the back stretch."
👍
What a gem she was. It was great coming across this. Thank you for posting.
❤
Fantastic ❤
