Nice old Fords. I love them. We were always a Ford family, my mum had a 1950s Ford Popular, mk1 estate Ford cortina, mk3 Ford cortina GXL,a 1979 estate Ford cortina, and a 1989 Ford Granada.

Twin Weber 40IDF carbs, like this, were once homologated by Ford as part of an engine package for Group One ( Production ) rallying/racing. Typically, back in the day, the package was good for approx. 160-165bhp @ 7,200rpm.

That is a nice clean car. Well done to the owner for preserving it through the years. I missed out on a Mk2 Lotus Cortina a few years back, i was actually angry at the owner as he said i could buy it ,then sold it out under me. Anyways... Thanks and take care.👍

I had the same car back in the eighties, but mine was sky blue with the same white vinyl roof. Fitted it with side pipes as any self respecting young mechanic would. The down side of that was that mine was an auto and it sounded a bit like a moose in mating season. Great car; loved it.
