HGUC Stark Jegan Custom - Model Showcase
This is one of my recent builds. It took me about 2 years to finish this thing and I’m very happy - it turned out really nice. A lot of lessons have learned, a lot of mistakes are made, a lot of new builds are waiting.
Thanks for watching, my friends!

To SUPER SUPER SUPER shorten this video: nippers are nippers.
What thinner do you use to diluite this surfacer? And do you recommend top coat ?
@@salemjimenezchao4786 Here I use Nazca pro use thinner, but you can use basically any compatible thinner like Mr Color thinner or something. Nazca just a bit better. And no, I don’t recommend top coating in this case - it will unify the texture
elite!
Bro..ur build really got my inspiration for doing scribing..tq so much!!
Did it become tight to reassemble? Specialy armor connecting to the slotted inner frame? Can you still articulate the armor parts without having paint sratch each other(rear skirt, shoulder parts, backpack beam saber door, fin funnel mount, cockpit, leg flaps etc.) I'm too scared to custom paint that I might break the parts when Its time to reassemble everything. Please give me some tips to prevent this.
@@Huehuehue-v6b basically it becomes a bit tight and yeah, you should be more careful when you assemble/reassemble/articulate the parts. It also depends on the type of the paint, but I’d say lacquer paints are the most durable. It’s not like working with bare plastic, but definitely the one can handle it. Personally I don’t articulate the kit a lot after painting so I don’t mind it’s less movable ect
How you do that shadowy looked?
@@zalhasmi8172 if you mean painting style it’s just a pre-shading
Hypersexy!
Nice work, what are some of your preferred generic caution decals brands?
@@driftsc2gaming779 thanks! I use a lot, mostly its HiQParts and Child of Mecha decals. And some Bandai ones from different sets
Yummers
Super looking forward to seeing the complete thing!
🎉🎉
I love when people do this to there gunpla
I didn't know about the rule to never cut from the sprue with the single bladed nipper... my DSPIAE chipped because of it... I wonder why my GodHand entry nipper ($20) was still in good shape despite being inferior... man... this hobby is great but so many expensive mistakes to learn from...
Thank you for the great explanation dude! ❤
Fantastic work dude… the Stark Jegan is probably my fav grunt after the Jesta. Thanks for sharing, cheers!
Thanks, bud!
you camera work has gotten so much better over the years! Was a fan when i found your candy sinanju a few years ago - keep up the great work bud!
@@bakaduo2978 thanks a lot, bud! Appreciate
Damn thats clean
One tip I always have when it comes to mask painting is only use tape where you want the solid lines, the rest can be masked off with blutac or some other poster putty. It's reusable and saves alot of tape. The only real negative is it has a less satisfying peel.
Yeah, thanks! A always forget I can use blutac for this ^_^
Nice, I must try this… does the Mr Weathering Color require thinning using its own Mr Weathering Solvent?
I mostly didn't thin it down here, but the other day I did (a bit). I think it's not very important in case of inner frame painting. And yeah, I don't recommend to topcoat it - I think most of the shine will go away if you will. But Nazca is very strong and doesn't requirte top coating
@@slcat thanks dude for sharing. I think that was the intent of Naoki when he produced this paint, to be a primer you can paint inner frames, and leave it as is and no top coat. Top coating frames also makes them super stiff and even brittle at times. If you thin it with NAZCA pro thinner, it increases its adherence to the plastic even further.
@@jiminboo I use exactly this thinner
Loved the monster energy colour scheme, I was acctually looking for something similar to that lol! Great video!
Another way to prevent damage to a single bladed nipper when removing a part is to cut at a 45 degree angle diagonally. This causes the gate and sprue to actually move, assuming the plastic isn't too rigid. It also helps with future cuts to cut in the opposite diagonal, meaning if you cut diagonally left, the other side, you cut diagonally right.
Yep, I found it works too, especially if the nubmarks are quite tiough (old kits have that a lot)

I’ve said it before and weather people believe me or not, I like my DSPIAE ST-A 3.0 more than my God Hand SPN-120
I'm with you on that one. I have 3 pair of the DSPIAE nippers, all are the high end of the line.
Should include an affiliate link for your efforts. Would totally help find the right product 😊
It's not always possible, unfortunately (in my case it's not). I could insert some links to the products but while people have different places to buy the stuff (in different parts of the world) it's up to them to decide. I just share my experience, nothing more.
I find it ironic that GW's nippers are the worst on the market.
Why I'm not surprised ^_^
The Dspiae is just as good as the godhand IMO, meanwhile if you take the insert out of the case it comes with you can fit a full gunpla toolkit in there. I've got the nippers, a retractile x-acto with extra blades, some glass files, some parts separators and a panel liner all in there.
Well, everyone has some personal experience, I'm just saying how it feels for me ^_^ And yeah, taking the toolset from Dspiae is very good move too, there are a lod of good stuff in there for the price
look up the hobbymio gunpla kit, it is absolutely insane
thanks for the review. 90% godhand quality with half the price and better availability really sells it! especially if you sand the parts afterwards anyway
Yep, it anyway makes the whole process a lot more fast and easy so it is worth investing
Not a lot of people appreciate how much time it takes to properly process and paint an HGUC kit, especially the older ones. It'll never be "just that easy" but it can be extremely rewarding.
i need to learn how to scribe one day...
I glad to know what you finally ready to work with something new and that is cool. It's really sad what kshatrya have so many problems, but i hope what next build will look defenetly good and you will get a fun.
Yeah, me too. I do have some limitations with painting now (I can't paint at home atm) but it's not imposible - there are some ways. At least I can focus more on scribing/detailing now ^_^
"Let's go. In an out. Twenty minutes adventure."
Wow sorry it was such a a bad build. But your hard work paid off it looks amazing 🤩
dude I hate that feeling. A unfun kit and it turns out meh. I built a resin barbatos kit where the build was such a pain and the process of building it was not enjoyable at all while a more boxy kit like a resin rx78 full armor that I am working on right now is so much more easy and fun.
yep, it really matters.. model making isn't suffering, it shouldn't be. I get that such builds are kind of experience we should have to figure out what it looks like, but it shouldn't take so much time. Well, at least I've learned from it ^_^
Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy the experience. You are right. There are a lot of issues with the parts. To make it shine, there is a lot of rescribing, sanding, and touch up work needed. For anyone who wants to tackle this project, I suggest getting the Metal Club 1:100 Kshatriya. It uses the same molds to make what they sell as a completed figure but with a much sturdier inner frame with some die cast parts in the legs and chest to support all the weight. I disassembled mine using the Elyn's instructions very carefully as quite a few parts are superglued into position. Several months of clean up, installed new LEDs, a full repaint, decaling, and weathering got me a true grail kit. Feel free to check out my final product.
Dude, this is such a great idea! So you basically used a metal-build figure inner frame instead of the one that came with the kit? Because that pre-built inner frame they include is basically trash and makes the kit very unstable. Cheers!
@@jiminboo Yeah. Much better inner frame comes with the Metal Club version. As you can see, it's fully articulated and can do a fair bit of movement and can actually hold poses.
@@leviathanprime1 I wonder if I can just buy the inner frame, cause metal build figures are expensive… 🤔
Nice review, thanks for sharing. Finishing this kit is like conquering Everest in the gunpla world. I started snapping this kit years ago and came to an early realization that you almost need to forget about what you are used to when building a Bandai kit and take it on with a different approach. I felt I didn’t have the skills finish it! I remember the inner frame being garbage. The best way to display this kit once done is to tie it to a hangar with all binders on the side, off the kit, propped up. Placing the binders just feels if the support arms are just going to disintegrate. I can imagine lacquer paints weakening the plastic even more. I remember this kit having lights, and the wires not fitting anywhere. Best to replace with thin magnet wire, or just forego the lighting. Anyway dude, you just conquered Mt. Everest. Cheers!
Hey! thanks. BTW lacquer paints don't weaken the plastic - at least modeling lacquers (solvent based acrylics) like Mr.Color/Gaia/Modo etc. I've painted plenty of kits with it to say it for sure
If gundam build is real this will be my Gunpla 😂
Hi, I'm just starting my way in modeling and I can't find a gold paint for the backwash technique, could you tell me what kind of paint you use? I don't know if yours is still active, because the last video was released 8 months ago, but I hope for the help of the author. P.S. I apologize for mistakes in the text, I use Google translator)
I am loving your style. Great video! Only thing I would mention is the vocal music in the background makes it kinda hard to hear your comments. Learned some good tips. Thanks!
wonderful video just subbed! looking forward to your next project :)
I did a similar shading style on my hygogg, it works so well on these bulbous round boys
Just found your channel, great stuff, brilliant and engaging presentation :) Also sharing you process and explaining your workflow is very welcome and will definitely be incorporating what I've learned from you into my workflow too!
Is this one for sale I love the color and orca details
Really like all the modelling work you done, the subtle effects and the modulation, tho I do feel like the colors don't pop enough, but it is personal choice after all
