We just discovered bees in our soffit yesterday, don’t know what kind of bees they are, honey bees?
7:04 bee crawling on shoulder 🫣
2019 was a bad year for love bugs! A1A almost disappeared from all the dead bugs on the road.
They don’t die in the vacuum? Did you say you release them to your hive at home? Very nice.
How are you not getting stung?
I hope this message finds you well. My name is Jeeva, a dedicated student currently pursuing my studies in agriculture. As part of my final project, I am developing a solution to aid remote communities in effectively drying the honey they collect. Your expertise and the schematic diagram with dimensions of the honey drying box would be invaluable to me in achieving this goal. Your contribution would not only greatly enhance my project but also have a positive impact on the lives of many in underserved areas who rely on honey production for their livelihoods. I am eager to learn from your knowledge and experience in this field and would be immensely grateful for your support. Thank you in advance for considering my request. Your assistance would mean a lot to me and to those who will benefit from this initiative. Warm regards, Warm regards,
No clothing protwction?
These are FLIES. Disgusting!
Queen comes out
if I use kitchen hood in close chamber ... will it work ,,because same thing will happen isn't it ,, ' evaporation of water '
Wow that's crazy 😧
How do you prevent them from coming back?
Ricky the soffit needs to be sealed back up with no opening that a bee can fit through.
Can’t you just dust it ?
i remember this
Thank you for this video. Have been studying up for years to become responsible beekeepers but reluctant to take the plunge. No time like the present. Lol. Like that camper, we’re looking at the exact situation in ours. What a gift! Wish us luck.
So interesting! The actions of the bees are so amazing! Hope your bees survived. So sad to hear of the incredible number of bees who didnt survive Ian. 😵 I hope those beefarmers did all they could to protect the bees, as I dont understand why they couldnt transport them to higher ground, either North or East of the storm. Bees are their business and property, they should know how to protect them from the numerous FL storms!
Answer to your question: Most of the bees are placed in areas that usually do not flood . In my area we had 21” of rain we had areas that have not been flooded in over 300 years on record.
Reminds me of the may flies in Detroit.
What was the result?!!
Drop the moisture content 3% in 24 hours
Happy childhood memories, i dont live there anymore
How long was it from when the cells were started until you cut the out
No you dont. I'm sure the narrator would not say that if they had a swarm of biting, stinging mosquitoes and leave ichy red bumps for the love bugs do neither.
On god wtf 😂😂
Very useful video! THANK YOU! One Q… Is there a reason why you use nuc boxes for the splits and not a full size broad box if you’re creating a new hive…….Would that not save you one step and a lot of work later on? (I have lots of extra broad boxes, but not many spare nuc boxes.)
Yes, true. Good point. The bees have to keep the brood warm. If you use full size boxes use a divider board like dadant boxes use to keep the nest warm. The bees van pass the board. Its not nee free only insulated. I use a old frame wich s filled with cardboard to improve insulation. Both side a plate of thin cheap wood. Keep the entrence one bee entrence for defending.
@@BasvanHeelRoseboom thank you…. Just making split boxes…. Will incorporate your information…..sure makes sense!
Ugh, I live in Florida and these bugs scare the crap out of me! I hate any kind of bugs, big or small, they just send chills down my spine!!
Did the bees go about creating the new supersedure queens on their own or did you provoke them to create them? The reason I ask is this..... If the bees feel the need to replace their queen because she is not performing as she should and you take those queens for new splits, don't you run the chance of creating a new colony with the same poor performance genetics of the original queen?
الله المعين والموفق أخي الكريم
Very clearly done.Congratulatulations.I too a beekeeper in India.
That's fukn' insane. There should be a program to eradicate those pests.
A sure fire way of at least cutting down the population explosion is to create a SMALL sterile lab created ones which wont reproduce at all with other ones in the wild.
@@CrstnJdiKnight They should do that with mosquitos and flies and ants and roaches and wasps and killer bees too. Love bugs are completely useless. I wonder why they don't do what you described.
Only if theyre invasive people will eradicate them
@@POOPGOD999 They're invasive.
Fantastic!!!
Great video, thanks. Do those new nucs need to be taken away to a different apiary or can you leave them in the same area as the parent hive?
Don’t understand why you didn’t get hit. I have a colony in soffit. I had a guy come over he managed to get a few chunks of brewed and was only able to go back so far. They still have 70% in the soffit. But, I was stung twice. I was standing 15 yards away. They came out the way to get me. smh by the way I enjoyed the very nice vid.
Build a fire in a barrel at night.. they'll dive bomb the fire and it looks like shooting stars as the burn up upon entry.. 🤣🤣
Enjoyed the video. Could you just dry the honey in the extractor tank? It would be a smaller box and stainless steel contact?
What does any one think about pulling that frame of cells. Cutting them all out and putting on Queen protectors. Then bank them with friendly bees . Then let it be known you have 15 queen cells at $10-15 apiece. Or just sell the frame for $50. Not a beekeeper just a speculator. Just Subbed. Blessings.
Wth plastic foundation, how would you cut out queen cells? Thanks.
You can't ! Unless you cut right through the Plastic ! (Which would probably damage the Cell in the process !!!) You could use 1/2 Sheet of Plastic Foundation, in top part of Frame, allow Bees to drawn out Natural Work and, or Drone Comb. This natural lower Wax, also allows for Queen Cells to be made. 😏 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝
How long does this go for? Is it 3 days?
There seasons last about a month the time can range from April-May and August-September. Most are around during May and September.
Where did they all come from to just show up like that!
Mating season
You on a right path. Don't stop. Think more. There is a much more efficient way. Same princip..
And what would that be if you would like to share?
@@snydershivesandhoney460 sorry, i can't. Company secret.
Box can be assembled just by gorilla tape. We have them 4x4x8 to melt honey in drums by oil heater+fens.
Toothpicks work great to put cut cells inside the hive onto the frames. Just worried your cells May fall to the bottom board
You could put weather strip on the bottom.
Just curious where is your queen I didn't see you move her
Wade this is a queen less hive. That’s why they made so many cells.
Shake the bees off walk away cut your Queen sales then go back
Wade, you don’t want to shake the frame when you have queen cells on it. You can damage to damage the developing larvae.
When a queen is ready to hatch their wing buds are last to develope. If you shake queen cells you can damage the wing buds and she will never fly and be a drone layer. Never shake them only brush them
Cannot even eat ice cream lol
I was successful in drying some honey based on your video. Thanks for the clear and easily followed content. I purchased a dehumidifier for $189 and 6 (full tray sized alum. pans) for $67. My pans are 16 gauge and sturdy enough. I used a small closet with no HVAC vent and monitored with small indoor humidity meter. I did stir the trays with a fork to circulate the honey during the process (~24 hrs.). I definitely will look to get a rack. These alum. trays can be found used at scrap metal dealers. I recommend deep cleaning prior to use.
You should be using stainless steel. Honey will react to aluminium.
@@Edna2u How fast would you say honey reacts with aluminum? Or how long would the alum /honey contact take to have a meaningful effect?
@@dandorosheff256 That, I am not sure of but I know the reason the extractors are made from stainless-steel is because other metals react with the honey.
Throw the whole house away
Everyone taking it surprisingly well have I not seen one women ran if it was in California all hell would been loose
lol
Holy cow!!!
Hello! Greeting from Indonesia. Can you know about "2 weeks aged honey" or "fermented honey" of "dried honey" to become hard enough but elastic for making kkultarae in korea? Because i'm so confused about it. The man who sells in some videos is always said that in the beginning of making kkultarae. Please explain if you know some method. Thx!
Looks like there’re attractive to white
That is nasty .. My little brother was brutally raped by a gang of circus clowns at a craft fair when I was a kid . so we don't go to go to craft fairs anymore. He was also bitten by a swarm of love bugs to and he turned into a werewolf.
Ummm... rape isn't a usual part of a craft fair, foolio.
Actually that's a myth because love bugs don't even bite at all. They're just annoying, more annoying than common house flies.
Yea but clowns have been known to rape..
Bruh what
Sounds like he had a tough time of it. I am surprised that he didn’t turn into a werebug though.
