classic literature & baking bread | simple living vlog
Hello everyone :)
welcome to this cozy simple living vlog in which I read classic literature (why did I read Dracula during the spring season?) and bake bread, muffins and scones. It was quite a challenge to read this classic but it was also interesting and I hope I can encourage you to read classic literature as well.
I know that this vlog is a little late (I filmed it back in March) but I hope you still enjoy this cosy content :)
Have a lovely day or night

Hello everyone :) welcome to another painting vlog! This time I tried to work on a larger scale which proved to be quite a challenge but it was also rewarding to see the finished piece in the end. Hello everyone :) welcome to another artist vlog, a cozy day during which I spent time sketchbooking, painting furniture and also finally reading Emma by Jane Austen which I had been putting off for so long. I'm really happy to finally have painted this little wooden stool that I've had for so long and I'm also rather satisfied with the still life painting I did during my sketchbook session. I ...

So beautiful ❤I love all your flowers ❤
thank you so so much ☺️ i love painting and drawing flowers, i just can’t stop as you can tell from the sketchbook 🌸🌷
Perfect timing that I see this because I was curious to know how you seal colored pencil over gouache? These look so pretty btw!
thank you ☺️ you can seal it with hair spray which I’ve been doing for years but I recently got a fixative spray from the art supplies store :)
so cozyy❤❤
thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed it ☺️
I dnf'ed Dracula.
I can understand that but my motivation was to discuss it with my friends (I probably wouldn’t have read it on my own or not in a long time…) hope you still enjoyed the vlog :)
i agree about men being emotional feeling non-intuitive. i think it was really only after the trauma of the world wars that men were expected to be so dissociated, but i'm sure the topic is much more complex. i remember viriginia woolf saying in 'a room of one's own' how, after the first world war, poetry (from male poets) that she, and seemingly everyone, had enjoyed in the past now felt unthinkably and uncomfortably sentimental.
thank you for your valuable input on this topic. i think it is alway interesting to observe societal changes over time and you reminded me that i still have virginia woolf‘s ‚a room of one’s own‘ standing on my bedside table :)
whaaaa such a cozy video, loved watching all thru it and seeing u organise and brainstorm how to categorize them ❤ id love more videos and more poetry essay vids, i dont really see a lot of vids about that 🙏 id also love to see ur collection of classic childrens lit and just classic books and they look gorgeous on ur shelvesss!! u earned a new subscriber keep posting pleasee🎉🎉
thank you so much for sharing your enthusiasm ☺️ I have so many ideas for new videos and I hope to be making so many more but it’ll take a little while, so thanks for joining my creative journey ✨
Thanks to slow living, 🌱🕯🌷 we’ve learned to be more mindful and intentional in our daily activities, savoring each moment rather than rushing through life. This way of living helps us focus on what really matters, bringing us peace and fulfillment. By embracing slow living, we reduced stress, improved our mental health, and found a better balance, leading to a happier and more meaningful life. Thank you for inspiring me.❤ Fateme Life 🌱🕯
thank you for taking the time to reflect on this way of life and share your insights ✨
"i like to observe the way the sun falls in my window, dipping the room in a golden glow, a softness that announces a beautiful day." "spending a day somewhere else, letting the lanscape pass me by, the colors blurring into impressionist scenery." "observing architectural details and strangers walking by, then driving home with the sinking sun, a lovely day fading into memory." good grief, i would not have guessed english isn't a first language of yours-those are such nicely, delicately phrased sentiments, i felt like i was looking at a gainsborough painting! 🌳✨
thank you so much for that lovely compliment and comparing my choice of words to painting because that is what I find so fascinating about language, it’s ability to express things in a picturesque way ☺️✨🌿
Thank you for this vid! Definitely very artsy. ☺
thank you for the compliment, I appreciate it ☺️
Oh! A lovely poem! The first two lines "we're in a garden full of roses / but all you see are thorns" are quite exceptional. Immediately, it seems as if the addressed is someone melancholic or perhaps pessimistic. But then when you think about it, and as the poem progresses of course, you realize that those thorns are sharp. So those two lines not only convey the person's inability to see the beautiful parts, they also give insight into why. One cannot help but to see the sharp thorns when they've been hurt before. The uses of the words "we're" and "us" make clear that the addressee is there with them, this adds another layer. I also find it interesting how you've structured the poem. I see it as two three-line stanzas followed by a sort of rhyming couplet. I like the line "leaving scars and aching memories," it further creates this theme of pain crossing boundaries as if physical, psychological and emotional pains are indistinguishable or at least inseparable. The final two "as soon as the blossoms wither / and summer turns into winter" are likewise very strong. Summer doesn't turn into autumn, rather the warmest part of the year turns directly into the coldest. It solidifies the other theme of the poem's: extremity. Rose blossoms and thorns, "the million little cuts . . . from every single touch," summer and winter. The real world is in fact gentler than the person's perception of it, interesting. Bravo, stellar work!
thank you so much for your analysis and interpretation of my poem, I truly appreciate it ☺️
Your english is fluent and perfect i cardly hear any accent
thank you so much for that compliment ☺️ I studied English at University and I really love that language :)
Wow! So cool. Definitely makes me want to learn to draw but I know the endeavour would be so difficult. 😅 I appreciate those super close-up frames, they give a good glimpse of the detail you really put into the drawings. Great stuff!
thank you! I hope you start drawing and don’t be discouraged if things don’t turn out exactly how you wanted them. Maybe you could start with a smaller sized sketchbook and draw things you observe in you daily life. Happy creating :)
Hi, subscriber no. 524 here heh heh. Wow! So many cool books! I think we have the same literary tastes lol. Have you read any of Steinbeck's works before? He's my favourite writer!
thank you :) I haven’t read any Steinbeck yet but I might in the future, there’s always so much to read and so little time…
Great video! Funny you should mention poetry, I only started reading today a book I have of Emily Dickinson's poems. You've a super interesting library of titles!
thank you :) I feel like my collection of books is very eclectic but that’s what I like about it so I’m happy you appreciated it. I hope you find a lot of joy and inspiration from reading poetry, I certainly do 😊
Lovely video, beautiful scenery. When i saw the church and cemetery and you mentioned you were doing a drawing of it I was actually glad you did. The zine is was great idea and you were very brave to go on a solo trip. Many people do travel solo. When i was single i used to go to my favourite places on my own on my days off work.
thank you so much for leaving a comment! This trip was such a great experience and I’m happy you enjoyed the process of me creating the zine to remember it by :)
i would love to hear more about poetry! whether it's your own poems or reading ones you like or your thoughts on certain poems or poetry collections -- i would enjoy anything, your lovely quiet space feels so well suited for that kind of quiet, thoughtful appreciation 🦋🪻✨
thank you so much for your lovely comment ☺️ I will certainly keep that in mind for a future video and I’m also thinking about making another video with one of my own poems ✨
Where did you get that hardcover of The Tenant of Wildfell hall? Looks like such a gorgeous edition!
thank you! I inherited it from my grandma and I believe she bought it in London while she was there in the 1960s :) sorry I can’t provide you with more information…
@@celineoceane1539 Thats no worry at all, thank you for replying so quickly! According to google, It seems it was published by Thomas Nelson & Sons.
Just discovered your channel and it took me back to my 20's when I was single and always had a creative project on the go. Back then writing was my passion but loved doing crafty stuff too. Can't wait to get back into it soon. I also loved your room and the lovely words you said while you were painting that picture. I had to smile when you showed the Winnie the Pooh book you had read - I like anyone who likes Winnie the Pooh and Snoopy! I now follow you on instagram too. I don't post much on mine it's just book reviews of books I've read and they're not what everyone else is reading either.
thank you for your lovely comment, I truly appreciate you taking the time to write it :) I hope I was able to inspire you to take up your creative hobbies again, they’re so important for our wellbeing! I’m sending tons of creative energy your way ✨
Oohhh. I love the new colour wool you are introducing into your granny squares. It adds another element of visual interest and just gives it another wee spark without it being overwhelming. Good choice. Loved watching your video. I’m a first timer here, now subscribed. You make me want to start a small jigsaw puzzle too! Looking forward to the next video.
thank you for your lovely comment, it’s such a beautiful way to start my day ☺️ I’m happy I was able to inspire you and that you enjoyed my video (a new one is on its way ;) have a wonderful weekend ✨
I love the colour scheme of your 'granny squares' and the fact that there is not time limit on this project , we all need more to enjoy the proces and not the end result because that is what makes us happy . The combination of Young adult books versus 'serious' books brings joy . Great you are back into your sketchbook and 'your personal style will come by itself by filling your sketchbooks 😉 have confident . I wondered which kind of piano pieces you are playing? 😊 Have a lovely week ! 🌺
thank you so much for commenting ☺️ exactly, I just want to enjoy the process as I go along and one day I’ll have completed it being proud of myself for not giving up :) unfortunately I don’t find much time to play the piano at the moment but I like to play soundtrack pieces from Pride and Prejudice for example 😊 I hope you’re having a lovely week as well 🌸✨
your granny square project reminds me of the lovely dried flowers you purchased, and what a satisfying reccurance of theme! 💐 and i think the way you laid it out worked really well! 😊
thank you so much ☺️ you’re right, the colour palette is really similar, I hadn’t noticed before 🌸🌷
I've never seen that brand of gouache before. How do you like it? I love the colors you used in this!!
thank you, the quality of them is rather good :)
This is phenomenal!!
thank you so much ☺️
Thank you for this video. It was very intresting and thank you for the recommendations for the books and websites
You’re very welcome ☺️ I hope you feel inspired and encouraged to start ballet 🩰
I really enjoyed this vlog ^^ Your birthday cake was so cute! I also love the homemade things you did for others during Christmas - I also did a LOT of baking and handed out handmade items. It's really lovely to see others who are still doing that as well. I'd like to collect more Christmas related books to read in the future ( I read A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens for the first time this Christmas) and I had totally forgotten about The Nutrcracker (I'll have to keep an eye out for it now). I hope you had a nice holiday and happy late birthday!
thank you so much for your lovely comment ☺️ I had a lovely birthday and holiday season and I hope you did too! My birthday cake turned out to be one of those lessons that teach me to be patient with myself and the process :) I haven’t read A Christmas Carol yet and I still have quite a few unread short stories that I’m very excited to read next year :)
I love this vlog so much! You are my comfort person on youtube
thank you so so much ☺️ I’m happy you liked it and that I was able to bring a little coziness into your life ✨
the color reference dictionary sounds like a lot of fun! it's so rare to get to interact with color like that outside of considerations of form or function or larger context. and i personally really liked the green in the bottle holder! i think the darker color in the middle of the the other colors is quite striking, and the less saturated tone i think grounds the softness of the blue, pink, and white really nicely. 🥰
thank you for taking the time to write your comment ☺️ I agree, the colour dictionary is truly a great resource and it’s interesting to hear your thoughts on the colour combination of the bottle holder 😊
great video!
thank you so much! this video means a lot to me ☺️✨
your experiences are helpful and I really hope that I can start doing ballet this year. thanks for sharing😊
I’m so happy I was able to help you ☺️ I hope you can find a ballet class that suits you 🩰 thank you so much for watching 🥰
Lovely vlog 💐
thank you ☺️
This was such a relaxing video, and I loved hearing your thoughts! I also started painting larger last year ("large" as in around 40x30 haha) and I'm trying to go even larger this year, and also be patient with the process. It really is difficult. You mentioning that towards the end you get scared of ruining it... yup, that's such a scary feeling each time! I love the way you paint florals in particular, and the painting was worth all your patience and effort, and you found the perfect moment to stop! :) I just started using oil pastels this month so I know nothing, but now I'd love giving them a try for a bigger piece!
thank you so much ☺️ I’m happy you enjoyed watching my video! I agree, it can be so daunting to start a larger piece and the process can feel sooo long sometimes but it’s also rewarding in the end :) I hope you’ll enjoy working with oil pastels. In the beginning it can be a little strange to work with but the textures feel great in my opinion :)
I just wanted to say that I think the painting is really lovely. I really love the colors and the columns/railing turned out beautiful. Thank you for making youtube videos - I find your videos both calming and inspiring. Have a wonderful day ^^
thank you so very much 💕 it was quite a challenging but rewarding painting process so I’m happy you like it 😊 to know that I’m able to inspire your creative journey truly brightens my day ☺️
