    How would you make this pattern smaller? Im very VERY slim and i think id end up cutting down to the point that i end up cutting out boning channels. When i opened up Butterick stays/corsets pattern i automatically knew it was too big. Im a size 6.

    • @TheHBSeamstress
      @TheHBSeamstress 2 часа назад

      Well, I would make a mock-up of the smallest size, put that on and see how that fits. Then I would, if it's too big, make it fit and then see where the boning channels are, after you have altered it. And then make the boning channels fit you, I think that you may have to take some away and maybe shorten some of them. 😊 Hope that helps

    Not sure if this is the answear to your sizing problem, but if it was about the waistband, it seems the pattern expects you to wear it over corset and the waistband is already adjusted for slimmer waist under the corset

If I had it loud enough to hear you clearly when you were speaking, the music when you weren’t speaking was too loud! Hello! 😊 Your video just popped up in my RUclips recommendations. I love sewing, too, and I make mistakes still after many, many years as well. 😅 That can be so frustrating, especially when you've sewn the same or similar thing before and it worked out just fine. Hmm, for your frayed sleeve caps: the arm holes won't become wider from this, of course, but you can at least stop the fraying by using a zigzag stitch on your seam allowance. If you use your machine for this, it will clean up the fraying quite well even on such a narrow seam allowance. I don't own a serging machine, so I use this zigzag stitch on every inner seam to clean it up, avoid fraying, and to have a second stitch line that still secures the seam IF the actual seam that holds the peices together should ever tear and get a hole. For some seams I might also use a french seam. Or, if you don't care about a "security" seam and know that your seam won't tear, then you could also fold under the seam allowances separately to each side of your running stitch and machine or hand stitch them under. So that the farbic edges can't fray. But with your very narrow seam allowance on your sleeve cap seams the zigzag stitch might now be the best option. If they keep fraying, you'll eventually get holes in the seam and then there's no intact fabric left to repair it. The problem on the inside of your cuffs is the same, I guess. You didn't secure the fabric from fraying by either using a zigzag stitch on the seams/seam allowances or folding the fabric under and going over it with a running stitch. I watched your previous video and saw how you just cut off the seam allowance on the sleeve edge's piping. I don't know the pattern you used, but maybe that tartan fabric piece that kind of covers the inside of the sleeve's piping was supposed to sit on top of the piping's edge? Uhh, I don't know if I'm making any sense here; it's hard to explain. 😅 I would have first zigzag stitched the piping edges on the inside, then used that extra flap of tartan farbic with all its edges folded under to put on top of the entire inside section of the sleeve cuffs to cover up these seam allowance edges and the piping. If you don't want the stitching from doing that to show up on the outside of the dress, then using a blind stitch by hand would probably do the job. Maybe you could try that if you have some extra fabric left from making the dress, or use a plain green or black piece of fabric. As it's on the inside, it won't be seen, anyway. 😉 Sorry for the long comment. I feel like I'm bad at explaining. But maybe it helps a little bit. In general, I think your dress looks very pretty!! 😍👍 Aaaand the puppy is adorable! 💗

    • @TheHBSeamstress
      @TheHBSeamstress Год назад

      Thank you for your recommendation 😊 I will keep that I mind if I ever make this dress again. 😉 And yes, I think I made the inside of the cuffs wrong as well, maybe I just didn't understand the directions and just went for it 🙈 I tend to do that. 😅 The pattern I used is from black snails patterns.

      @@TheHBSeamstress I haven't heard from that pattern company. But I swear, sometimes pattern instructions are SO confusing, it's no wonder that we keep making mistakes. 😅 As for myself, I make the funniest mistakes even WHEN the directions are okay.
