Use Your Practice As a Mirror

Our yoga practice is a reflection of how we show up to the mat, just as our reality is a reflection of how we show up to life.
Change the Channel of Your Consciousness
Просмотров 638 месяцев назад
Our consciousness, much like TV, contains a seemingly infinite number of channels that we can tune into at any point. The practice this week is to become aware of the channels that are playing in the background of our consciousness and awaken to the fact that we are holding the remote - and can change the channel to whatever we need the most, at any time.
Falling in Love with Your Breath
Просмотров 789 месяцев назад
Falling in love is a process we tend to associate with the external. What if we took all of the heart-racing, eyes-dilating, obsessive energy that we tend to direct outward, and instead channeled it on the deeply mysterious and alluring experience of our breath?

Yoga for When You Don't Feel Like It
Просмотров 97Год назад
Sometimes, you just can't find your way to the mat. You know that you need to move, but resistance sneaks in and convinces you to prioritize other (pointless) activities. This is a super-short practice for when you just don't feel like it.
Use Your Breath as a Boundary

We often think of setting boundaries with entities outside of ourselves - people, substances, and experiences. However, it's also important to practice setting boundaries within ourselves - especially with our minds while we are on our mats.

We're only afraid of falling because of the uncertainty of what comes afterwards. Disappointment is a compass toward our freedom. What's there to be afraid of? Article on the Goddess of Disappointment: www.yogajournal.com/meditation/goddess-of-disappointment/

My personal definition of yoga is anything that draws your awareness inward. This may include a mat and poses and yoga clothes, or it may not. You can do this yogic meditation anywhere - sitting at your desk, lying in bed, or in your meditation corner. Tune in now to reconnect with your Universal nature!
It’s interesting how the breath is often a critical factor for success in so many activities. Struggling on a crux when rock climbing? Try focusing on your breath. Having difficulty with a particular passage when playing music? Check your breathing. Your breath is so easy to forget about, so I love this theme.
So simple, and yet never easy @johnrowland6217

What is the best meditation for a full, late night plane flight out of Denver? ;)
My go-to is this one where you try to fall asleep without drooling on your neighbor...
I’m pretty sure that was achieved lol. You took off before I could even ask your name!
10p-1a is not my peak window for socializing lol…
Did my last comment not go through?
@@gB-gm7vy It did not. Was it explicit...?
Yea, I dig the yoga philosophy topics! The concept of the eternal self has definitely helped me get through some anxieties in the past. Good point on balancing this with the impermanent self and the importance of being a unique individual. Thank you for posting this!
Thank you for the feedback, John. Glad to know you can relate. :)
This is so awesome. I heard someone describe walking as 'falling', one step at a time. Each step is a controlled fall that we make look like walking. Just reminded me of that! Such a great vid!
‘Each step is a controlled fall’…I love that :)
Fear is the mind killer!!
