AXE SPLITS BETTER THEN EVER!
Просмотров 19821 день назад
We’ve had this old splitting axe for years and have hated it since day one! After watching a video from @BuckinBillyRaySmith about sharpening your axe we had to try it and figured this was the axe to try it on. If we messed it up it was no big deal because we never use this one anyways! After sharpening it we realized it was dull af since we bought it! This thing is AWESOME now! We can split a ...

Removing Tree Roots Buried in the Mud with the ATV, a Bumper Jack & Some Persistence!
needed the chimney at the top
“The pot size is….it says 15 so 15 something…” for whatever reason that made me laugh so hard. Just the tone or way it was expressed 😂 nice job on that build and fixing the issues!
😂 🤷🏼♀️ i just rolled with it! Glad to get a laugh from you! 😝
Nice video! How long did the original coil last before fixing it?
It was over two years that we have been using that coil before we had to repair it!
right on thx brother!
@mtndogg69PHONE it was worth the price of the copper and the time to build it!
Is it me I'm not getting any volume
A lot of the clips that make to the video have no sound as the were recorded on a Timelapse mode
This just looks so fun!
For being a small space to ride it was quite a bit of fun!!
I have a 2020 420. Foot shift. It only goes from neutral to first. No reverse or any other gears. Have any idea what it could be
I never came across that before 🤔 First thought would be a bent fork. I’d pull the front cover off and see if anything is visible in there. If I come across any info or think of anything I’ll reply and let you know
@ did a crank on the motor. Put everything except the front cover on and was able to verify everything spun correctly. It also shifted through the gears with the front cover off. Once we put the front cover on it started only shifting between first and neutral
@loganmiller5864 the problem is defiantly under the front cover. The return spring on the shifter (behind the clutch) is know to break, the issue is somewhere in that area.
This is awesome. I love your creativity!
Thank you so much! 🙏🏻
Looks good I’ll have too get one hooked up on the 660 grizzly
Yes! Such a good set up not having to install a switch!!
@ yes that’s what I like did you guys order the light or the customer had it
@jamesford9917 customer provided this one
@ ok
Im always impressed with the creativity of your builds! Great job designing that Ryan and great camera work Jenn! Looking forward to seeing the next step! I wont lie…not sure what a log arch should look like or its purpose at this moment but im sure this maccustoms built one will be as good or better then a mass produced version! Cheers & all the best in 2025 🥂
Creativity is key when working with no budget 😝 Thank you for watching and supporting our channel! We appreciate it very much! It took me (Jenn) a while to envision what we were going for as I wasn’t exactly sure the premises of a log arch either 😂 Wishing you and yours all the best for 2025!
GREAT! Thank you and enjoy all your rids!
Thanks for watching and supporting our channel!
Nice! We eventually want to add a wood burning stove and it looks like we'll be getting a workout!
You will not regret the decision! It is a great workout!
They make a whole kit. The kit includes bearings for the wheels, rubber dust caps, and hardware. 1st step: remove the wheel less weight on the steering spindle. Second, you didn’t have to remove the tie rod.
This is just what was given to us for this machine. We actually haven’t heard of this prior to the customer showing up with the pieces. It’s a pretty easy and cheap upgrade
I had a splitting axe from lowes (big box store) about 15yrs ago, it had 1" wide wing flares built into the head, I sharpened the head and it became the best splitting axe I ever owned, probably split close to 20 full cords before the handle broke, the head was 6lbs so it was medium range and it had alot of inertia going through knotty wood, I still have it, and need to replace the handle, I also own the fiskers x27, its another great weapon against wood, light weight head, but it will go through anything (I'm eyeing up all your white birch and drooling) I also would put a log into a tire to split, keeps the pieces from flying out and you dont get as tired constantly bending over to resplit pieces.
I was amazed at how much of a difference sharpening it made! It was clearly dull as can be from purchase. I’ve been looking at some Fiskers axes the last couple of day (looking to add a couple more axes to the collection now!) The tire is a great idea! We are quite happy with the haul of birch this year! We are taking a little break after spending so much time “panic hauling” 7 cords of dry wood because our order of firewood has never been delivered (we ordered back in May 😬) but we will be back out hauling more of the birch that’s currently standing to start drying for next years firewood! Thanks for checking out our video and supporting our channel!
Here’s some video of our wood collection lot! ruclips.net/video/-tEzod7bc0M/видео.html
I was waiting for you to show a closeup of your edge and profile. For big logs I find it easier to get the maul in and then hit it with a sledgehammer. Now I’m in my 60’s I try to work smarter. Can chose whatever sledgehammer size I’m feeling up to that day. The side cheeks of a maul are strong enough to do this. The thinner ones on a felling axe are too thin and could get broken.
I do that way sometimes also! 😂 it’s amazing how different each style of axe really is.
Nice. My favorite splitter is a 6 pound fiskar maul, it comes nice and sharp, I dont know why some mauls come so dull. I wish the 6lbs fiskars was in stores, I had to buy it off amazon, I like it better than the 8lbs one.
We will have to look into this! We always had good luck with Fiskars products! Having the right axe defiantly makes a world of difference!
Great job you two! I was so confident you would get this done but also so worried for you at the same time! Have a merry Christmas and all the best for the new year! I am always looking forward to your videos to see what cool things you are up too! Cheers 🍻🎄
Thank you so much! We are very happy to be stocked up on firewood for this season and started on next! We appreciate you thinking about us and supporting our channel! Merry Christmas to you & yours and we can’t wait to share our adventures and mishaps coming in 2025! Cheers & again thank you for all the support to our channel! 🎁🎄
I just jumped aboard. 🤠🇨🇦✌️👍👍
Thanks for joining us on our adventures!
Thanks for sharing, nicely done
Thanks for watching! It was a much bigger tree then we were expecting to be taking down in the middle of residential area! All went well though!
Tent post as a length marker is pure genius, I've seen people use the magnetic one and I like it, I just cant see myself paying for something like that, the tent post is perfect, I'm going to give it a shot
It was such a cheap and easy solution to keep them the same size to be able to stack them neatly!
I am new to your channel. Very nice job you two did. Alot of hard work. but look at the results and you own the wood. I also liked the Trailer and winch system. Looking forward to see you again. Merry Christmas from Minnesota
Thank you so much for joining us on our adventures! We appreciate the support and kind words! We are very happy to have got as much as we did in the couple of weeks we had been working at hauling it! It’s such a feeling of accomplishment. We love the homemade ATV log trailer and the winch is such a great addition, we will have to do some repairs after our little accident but nothing major! Merry Christmas to you and yours & we look forward to sharing more videos with you!
Nice video; good info, good audio, and good editing!!
Thank you for watching and supporting our channel! We appreciate the kind words!
amateur night and it's STILL daylight !! LOL
😂
What I saw here was careful manipulation using effective tools in taking down a problem tree. Without the safety conscious (not too much at one time), damage to the operator or the buildings would have resulted. I was impressed. Good job guys! Your customer must have been glad they hired you for the take down of their hazardous tree.
Thank you so much for watching and sharing the kind words! 🙏🏻 We are so happy that we were able to participate in safely removing this giant before it caused any potential damage to the owners yard/home or surrounding residence!
I was getting sick tho king about being up that high…then adding a chainsaw and falling tree limbs…NO THANK YOU! What a great chuck of wood to be able to haul home though. Hopefully you guys are getting close to having enough for the winter!
😂 Ryan and Mark were also feeling the aerial “seasickness”! They did great getting it mostly limbed but we (especially the boys) were so happy to have someone else come finish taking this giant down! This should end up being a cord or more (once it’s split) to put aside to dry for next years firewood! We have been working hard the last couple weeks (& still are) to make sure we have enough downed and mostly dried hardwood for this winter! Thanks for watching and supporting our channel we truly appreciate it!
at 4 minute mark,i just turned it off..cuz..holy fuck, this guy is dumb.
Why so harsh ?
😂😂
I always rejected Polaris just because of the front MacPherson Struts, I prefer solid axle or double A-frame suspension..... The biggest problem with atv's is they dont make them for working, they make them for riding around and thats why they are loosing atv sales. These atv companies dont realize that when most country folks pay over $5k for something they buy it first and foremost to work with, the best working atv ever made was the 1980s Honda Forman, it had really low gear for pulling power and solid front and rear axles, none of this independent suspension crap thats only good for trail riding. I will never buy another atv again til they get back to low gear pulling power, 20 mph in low range is unacceptable.........
Very well said!!! For what we do with the ATV a straight axel would be superior! Our Honda has defiantly been worked more then it’s been ridden, we primarily use it as a tractor 😂 it did its share of hauling wood, plowing snow, dirt and gravel, stump removal, dragging chicken coops around whatever homesteading life needs it to do!
I used atv for 15 years getting my firewood, now I use tractor with pto winch to get wood out, then I use utv to bring cut-up wood to house.
That’s awesome! We’d love to upgrade to a tractor some day! Do you have a dump box on the utv?!
@@MacCustoms Yes, 2012 Yamaha Rhino, biggest complaint is to high geared. They are now discontinued and gone to more expensive bigger machines, I will never buy another Yamaha.....
@job38four10 we had a Rhino for a while! They are defiantly slow going machines but we had made good use of it to haul wood and gravel and stuff! It’s crazy the price of the new machines!!
Loved the spinerama move with the atv! Nice!
That saved the day! 😂😂
I’m sorry it was such hard work getting the wood home but I am so glad to see that you guys are getting some wood hauled! I have been thinking about you both a lot this week with the temperatures dropping (in my area at least). It’s disappointing to see that your order still hasn’t arrived, so unprofessional for a company or person to do that to a customer. I knew he would get the trailer and ATV up that hill though! Nothing can stop you two! Sending prayers and good vibes to you for the upcoming week! 🙏🏻
Thank you for thinking about us! We have been working hard this week to make sure we have dry wood for the winter! It’s certainly a major inconvenience not having the ordered cords delivered but no point in dwelling on it! All we can do is move forward and make the best out of a bad situation! Also, many many thanks for following along on our adventures and for all the support you show our channel 💙
Those saws do like a muffler mod and retune. I modded mine after 3 tanks of gas who needs warranty lol. Your chain needs work tho, it's either dull or the depth gauges are too high.
It is well past due for a chain for sure!! 😂 I ended up waiting 4 years to do the mod and I wish I had done it sooner!
Hey! How much would a repair like this usually run? I have 2 vans with this issue.
It would be fairly expensive with the labour and material these days, into a couple thousand dollars, depending on how much cutting and prepping would need to be done as well. Some places may do a quote on the entire job some places may do it as a per hour job.
This is horrible to hear! I’m really hoping your delivery shows up very soon. If it doesn’t can buy some elsewhere?
Yeah it’s not a good situation to be in! Unfortunately at this time of year it’s not likely anyone else will have dry wood still available 😔
🤞🏻hopefully the delivery arrives soon!
Great job but I would have cleaned the rust and dirt off the swing arm and painted it , just me.
If it was my bike I would have also
I pour the bottle in like a man
thanks for the vid. It helped me figure out which side of the swingarm retaining nut faced outwards. Cheers from Sussex NB!
Glad it helped! Thanks for watching and supporting our channel!
I thought you guys quit?
Quit? No we are still just doing what we do lol
@ awesome sauce I just thought I saw Quit so glad
@randymacsgarage oh! A couple videos ago “We are done, now what?” It was we are done with the animals for the year, now what are we doing in that area 😂
Great video! Pro tip…safer to pull on a tool than to push.👍
Thanks for watching!
Where did you get the spool of wire that you used to run from the back to the front? Would it have been easier to run the wires up the drivers side or does it matter? Thanks
The wire would have came from a trailer / auto parts store! It’s called “two connector”. I don’t think it matters too much which side you run it up, I just happened to have had wiring running that way steady so I just wanted to keep everything together and as neat as possible
I’m loving that makeshift smoker!
It worked so well!
The fire pit area looks great and the chickens seem to enjoy that area as well! I bet that fresh pork was delicious especially having raised it yourselves. Im so happy to see the payoffs of your hard work over the spring and summer. Seeing the progress you are making with the animals and landscaping keeps me looking forward to the next video!
🙏🏻 we appreciate the support and kind words. The pork turned out amazing! We are very happy with what we accomplished this year considering we have no idea what we are doing 😂 but we get the tasks done none the less!
I just removed the starter on a gator 6x4 with the same engine. It is much easier to do it from the back, laying on the floor. I removed the battery first. The 6x4 has it in the rear. Easy access, clearer view.
Id put money on saying that log is well over 1200lbs.. 😅 Just block it and cut it in spot That little trailer isnt hauling it 😅
It very well may be much more then the 500lbs we estimated! The little old trailer handles it like a pro! It’s hauled many many loads like this or exceeding this one 😂
Wtf , nice video
There has been so many upgrades to the log trailer since then! Cool to see the “throwback video”!
It’s defiantly had a few upgrades since then! That old hand crank makes me laugh still! What a workout it was
I agree polaris are junk !! Bought a can am 2012 800 and have 16000 miles belts oil and tires thats it fuel pump when out but thats it
Someone who knows! We haven’t own a Can Am, had some very very nice Can Ams come through the shop and we do enjoy accessorizing and maintaining them for the owners!
I had a 2012 400ho, 4,000 miles on it when i sold it. Bought a 23 570, absolutely love it Maintain it, or anything will break.
Polaris is #1 ,I hate to tell ya! Maybe you should maintain your stuff, dumb ass!
