I traveled to Scotland in May, all flights good with my knitting bag. I was nervous but no questions at all. Glad you had a good trip to Cancun.
I didn’t know Kaley Cuoco had a knitting channel 😮 thanks for the tutorial I’ve been making a bunch of these and really like this pattern
This was extremely helpful! I have started this and slowly (scared) to mess up. I forgot to place my marker at the beginning of the round. There was a lady that helped me get started so she did the cast on for me and place a yarn marker at the beginning. So I am thinking I can place my marker in that area but at the beginning of the next round, if tis makes sense .... 🤔
Very good tutorial. I didn’t like the mus. hat because of the cast on. Thank you.
What pattern did you use to knit socks
I’m anxious to try the shorty heel socks. Thanks for the episode!
New Subscriber here! So glad to find you!
How can i do it Toe Up? And how does IT Work with different sizes? If you have different numbers of stitches, different foot length , different gauge etc????
Toe up, you just use a ball winder and reverse it. But you will wind up cutting the yarn after you finish the toe.
I love Pattons Kroy sock yarn. It's my go to sock yarn. Definitely a work horse. Love ❤ it.
@@ellenweigold4408 Ditto! Love this stuff!
I have been on an iced coffee kick as well! I am curious what yarn your first half and half triangle wrap was knit in. It is beautiful. I will be praying for your dad. Thank you!
@@holly4kid Thank you so much! ❤️ My first wrap was knit in KnitPicks Palette as well. I love that stuff!
I have the travelers pattern. You have inspired me to get started on it! I just have to finish the 2 sweaters I have started first.
@@holly4kid Aww I’m so glad! It is SO addictive, so watch out! 🤣 What 2 sweaters do you currently have on the needles?
@@knottedrealm Thanks for the warning! 😁I have Pink Fizz by Andrea Mowry in Cascade 220 in a cream color and Granny Cardigan by Joji Locatelli in Knitty McPurly Dubrovnik Dk in Roxette (a burn orange color).
Thank you Holly for share your love for knitting and crafting with us. Thank you and your husband for the sacrifices made in service to our country. God bless you!
@@holly4kid Thank YOU so much for being here and sharing all of this with me! ❤️❤️❤️
Pick up the ☎️ you kick a$$ Duke
Hope you have a good visit with family and enjoyable road trip. You are making me want to knit a Traveler one fine day! Really enjoyed the adventure portion too. I have lived in OKC area for roughly 20 years and still never been to that park/trail. Hopefully you. Didn't have issues with ticks actually on you!??! Really neat that they have deer there.
Thank you for sharing your nature walk. Gorgeous sunrise pictures.
Hi, I loved your video. I was able to knit along with my flexiflips. Amazing tutorial, thank you so much ❤❤❤
Thanks so much! So glad it helped! 🫶🏻❤️🧶
While these are fun, they only work for a “standard” foot. You have to cast on 64 stitches, you dont have the option to make the leg longer or shorter. If you have a high instep, you wont be able to make a larger heel flap. And if you wear a bigger size shoe (larger than a size 9), the solid toe color ends up being REALLY long and looks ridiculous. Just some things to consider.
Yes, this is true! As long as you stay within the parameters of 64 stitches and want a standard vanilla sock knitted for a standard foot, you’re golden.
What size needles?
@@ariess4713 US1 (2.25)
@@ariess4713the size you prefer with Regia. I use 2 mm.
I am a continental knitter too! I’ve learned when I was a kid. Then I stopped knitting and picked up the knitting needles just a few years ago. Do you watch any good continental knitting channels that do tutorials?
It’s so cool to hear from people that learned to knit or crochet as a kid. You’ve got years and years on me! I learned as an adult because I needed something to do with my hands when I couldn’t sleep. 🤪
My first lace pattern (and non-worsted yarn) was the Aeolian shawl. I stopped for a while, then picked it back up over a year later after getting circulars that weren't Amazon's cheapest garbage.
You did a great job on your first podcast!!
Hey Holly, your yarn dyeing is beautiful! I am so tempted by the skein that you offered as a giveaway on episode 1, that i almost wish even the 2nd winner does not claim it 😂! Can anything be as addictive as yarn hoarding? I adore the color of your most recent musselborough hat.....
Awww thank you so much! Dyeing yarn is so much fun. 🤩 And you’re spot on! Nothing is as addictive as yarn hoarding. Give me alllllll the sock yarn!
I am making my first pair of socks right now and I want to try your heel , I will watch it . This is my first time finding you and I’m glad that I have. I really enjoy your podcast. Thank you so much, Holly .
So glad you’re here! ❤️ Sounds like you might get bit by the sock knitting bug!! It’s sooo addictive! 🧦
Love the sweater you are wearing
Thank you! It’s so cozy 🫶🏻
I don’t like making anything in pairs. No socks or gloves for me! I lose interest/focus. I made it through Sophie’s Universe blanket book of 216 pages because it was challenging. But I can’t make it through a one page pattern twice. 😆 Oh, and I won your giveaway! Thank you so much! I’m sending you my info right now.
This is so interesting! I can totally see that. If I don't cast on the second one in a pair of something right after I finish the first, it becomes a whole ordeal for me to want to do it. There's no stinkin way I'd make it through 216 pages of a pattern lol. Hats off to you my friend!
Oh my, that fox experience was a little scary!! Foxes do make some strange sounds!! We occasionally see them around our neighborhood too. I would highly recommend taking pepper spray in case of a more vicious loose dog. I had a some loose German Shepherd that attacked my small dog. I barely had to use it, but it worked. It saved my dog's life.
You know, I've been thinking about carrying something for that purpose and you saying that makes me want to go ahead and get something. There have been too many times that I've had issues with other dogs, too. Walking along with my 2 dogs on leashes, minding my own business, and here comes crazy cakes ready to fight them. lol It's wild!
I pretty much live in sweaters as well. I have a couple of sweater WIPs that are basically having a time out right now as they have been giving me grief, lol! I haven't tackled a pair of socks yet but thinking I need to give sock knitting a try. Love the cayenne hat and thanks for showing the crystal - so interesting. So excited to be a winner!
Sweaters are just so dang COZY. Beware of sock knitting - it's sooo addictive! lol
I went to Gloss Mountain several years ago. Never knew about it. It was worth the little drive. Enjoyed the views! Neat to see your outdoor and knitting adventures!😊
Hey Holly! <3 So glad to see you here! Gloss Mountain is so neat. There's so much to see in OK!
Hi, thanks for this. I am a visual learner, and it was great . I did start over 6 times but got there in the end and am now in the round . Easy to follow, and we'll explain.❤
Thank you so much! I’m so glad the video was helpful. I struggle with this cast on all the time. It’s a real doozy! 😜 It gets easier after doing it a bunch of times, but it’s still difficult for sure. 😝 I love how tight it gets the hole in the center, though!
Your hand dyed yarn is really pretty. I like the idea of some added sparkles. I am working on a small scarf for a fund raiser right now. I have a few garments I should be seaming and blocking but since I would rather just knit they are just sitting there waiting and waiting.
lol I feel ya! You’ll get to them eventually! 🫶🏻
I love the shawl your planning on knitting. I cant wait to see how it goes.
Thank you! It’s going to be a fun one!
Something so soothing about thread going through canvas or fabric for certain .
Yes!!! 👏
Enjoyed your show. Love making socks also.
Hi! Thanks for stopping by! Socks are so much fun and pretty quick. Makes me feel so good having something finished so quickly. <3
Hey Holly. Just subscribed to your channel and loved your podcast. I mostly have been knitting on socks, however, do have other WIPs that need some love too.😊 The red, white, and blue yarn that you dyed is gorgeous and does remind me of the 4th!🇺🇸
Hello hello! Thanks so much! Socks in the summer months is where it's at!
...enjoyed the visit with you. I lived in OK (... before you were born!) 1974-1977 in the Altus/Blair area. Beautiful yarn! I enjoy making socks....most of my crafting is for gifting/donations but socks are for me 'n hubby. I will look for you on Ravelry
Oh my goodness! Oklahoma is such a cool state. We've mostly lived on the east coast until a few years ago and now we're landlocked lol. I feel like there's still soooo much to see here. Yes, please do friend me over on Ravelry and I'll do the same!
Looks so comfy. 😊
Love the sparkle! I didn’t know you dye yarn. My dad was in the military too. Thank you!
Hello! Sparkle is always fun. Can't live without it! What branch was your dad in? We were Navy.

Congrats on the first episode of the Hyped-Up Hank! I have several works in progress right now: a sweater that needs blocking, a sweater that needs seaming and a sweater which is waiting for some sleeves. I am also nearly finished a scarf which I will be donating to a fund raiser. What I really want to do next is a pair of socks. I have never knit a pair of socks so I am quite looking forward to giving it a try.
Hello hello and thank you for joining in!! Sweaters are so satisfying to knit. Socks are a total blast. I can’t wait to hear about how you like knitting them! 🧦🧶
Beautiful and peaceful nature hike. Thank you for sharing! Love your color choices.
Thank you so much! 🩷
Enjoy your videos. You have inspired me to knit a musselburgh hat for my son-in-law. I am just starting a second one for my daughter.
Woo hoo! I’m sure your family will love the hats! 🩷🤩
i love your green traveler. I wish I could figure out sweaters but i am still a new knitter and still have a hard time understanding patterns
I was the exact same way. Patterns are hard and feel overwhelming when you’re learning. My first sweater was the free Flax pattern by Tin Can Knits. It was so much easier than I anticipated and they really walk you through everything. I used worsted weight yarn to keep it easy to see my stitches and that was helpful too.
@@knottedrealm I might look into that one! 🙂
Holly, thanks for making this video! The initial stitches would be very fiddle, and your tutorial will go a long way towards making sure all knitters are aware of how to cast on for the musselburgh hat!
Thank you so much! I’m so glad it’s helpful 🩷
Hi Holly, YT recommended your channel to me today, and i am glad that it did so! All your Traveler sweaters are gorgeous! I loved the details that you shared about your projects here! I have heard so much about the Musselburgh hat, I think it's about time I got the pattern 😊🤗. Your Gloss mountain pics were amazing. Loved your hand dyed yarn skein for the giveaway! The winner will surely be extremely lucky to have the opportunity to work with such a fabulously dyed yarn! Looking ahead to your next episode....
Hello! So glad that YT worked in our favor today to get us connected! <3 If you do decide to knit the Musselburgh hat and need any help, just let me know! The cast on is the most difficult part. If you can get through that, you're golden! I have a tutorial for the cast on on my channel if it helps to visually go through it. That was the only way I was able to get mine started, and it's still a difficult cast on 13 hats later! Thank you for your sweet comment. You made my day! :)
@@knottedrealm thank you so much for offering help! I just went through your tutorial, and found it a awesome resource!
Enjoyed seeing all your projects and hearing about your hiking adventure. Have a blessed day!
Thank you! You too!
We live near Paris Texas ans have had 18 inches of rain in 2 weeks.
That is a LOT of rain. Have you had flooding?
@hollybellknits yes but not bad in our block. The houses at the end are lower than our house and had some water come into the house. We live near a creek and my hubs put in french drains that drain into the creek
@@julielandy9162 Sheesh not fun at all but glad you’re ok!
Like your yarn. Who's is it
The birds are so sweet. Love that you’re using dpn’s ❤
Very pretty
That is so cool! I crochet and i could never knit haha 😅❤
I crocheted before learning to knit! You can totally knit! 🧶
@hollybellknits I try, but i don't think I could lol... I learned some very basic Tunisian crochet and that's kind of close!
Beautiful socks. I only Crochet, but I do have some crochet patterns for socks. Thank you for the review. I had no idea it was on Amazon.❤
Thanks for watching! I had so much fun reviewing these. I will say - I was a crocheter first too! I had attempted knitting but found a scarf as a first project soooooo boring and didn’t try again until years later when I found The Crazy Sock Lady’s sock tutorials. Then I was hooked! 🧦🧶
