Thank you for an excellent sermon. However, there is the classical Adventist mistake in interpretation found in this sermon: Inference. On October 22,1844 the Millerite Adventists inferred that the cleansing of the sanctuary meant that Christ was returning to earth. Today the descendants of the Millerites are inferring that the Spirit of prophecy and the gift of prophecy are the same thing. Let me be clear before you dismiss me. I am a Seventh-day Adventist that fully supports and embraces the ministry of Ellen G. White and the gift of prophecy that she manifested in her ministry and writings. Yet to minimize the Spirit of prophecy, as manifested in the end time Remnant church (Rev.12:17), to the literary works and ministry of Ellen G. White it is taking the responsibility off the shoulders of the remaining members of the Remnant. I am not saying that Ellen G. White was not inspired by the SPIRIT of prophecy in her ministry, on the contrary. What I am saying is that Ellen G. White is an example of how the Holy Spirit (the Spirit of Prophecy) seeks to inspire every member of the end-time Remnant, of which Ellen G. White is only a part. She is only representative of the work that the Spirit of prophecy desires to do through every member of the Remnant by various gifts not only by prophecy. All we have to do is submit to the control and leading of the Holy Spirit in order to become part of the testimony of Jesus that is the Spirit of Prophecy (Rev.19:10). But it is a lot easier to say that Revelation 19:10 was pointing to Ellen G. White's ministry than to take on the responsibility to be led in a similar way on an individual basis. However, when we will do this the meaning of Revelation 12:17 will apply to us personally, individually, and corporately (Romans 8:9).
