Do you think they’ll have to do a recall for this?
@@taylorg8799 the bulletin says all of them are getting shipped back to Detroit, I think they’re checking them out. Once they determine why they’re failing, I would expect it to be fixed however, I also believe they’ll probably just wait and replace the ones that fail.
@ damn I wanted a 50% discount after the recall and people turned their used ones in 😭😭
wow what a mess
Yep!!! I just got back from a 6 hour trip to Harrisburg and back. After I disconnected from the fast charger while I was in Harrisburg, the infotainment system stopped working again.
@@Roberteeeeeee Ouch, I really have high hopes for the Silverado EV, I put in a deposit day one. But not in a position for another vehicle right now, if I was, not sure what I would get.
Man what a nightmare. I'll pick up a 2027 model, hopefully they'll have all these things ironed out by then.
Hopefully!
Sorry to hear. GM seems to be struggling with battery and software.
Yes, it is an issue. Still love the truck but how can I go on a roadtrip and have confidence in the vehicle.
@@Roberteeeeeee i totally understand your dilema, I run one of the silverado ev fb group and I plan on a GM EV truck in the very near future. But i too am fearful if i end up with a lemon.
Nice setup, i would put the hitchhiker at the end of the trailer, EG4 invertor and battery on the first part of the trailer. EG4 invertor to be accessible from the trailer side. This way the battery or invertor do not hinder the entrance to the hitchhiker. Also mount struts on all solar panels this will give a more clean look
Yep... Many of those things I have considered now. I still have to mount a place for my Eco Flow Wave 2 and connect it to the Hitchhiker... I might still be a little light on the tongue, having the 2 6000 watt inverters in the front would help with that. Check back and see my solar mounts on my Silverado EV RST... Coming soon!
My new 2025 silverado EV LT with 2700 miles, it wont charge and says "service high voltage system" any suggestions on what I should tell the dealer? im worried they will try and say its not covered
Every post I have found where an owner received that error... The battery pack was replaced. Pretty sure they know about this problem... Good Luck!
Looks like they took care of you! If memory serves me correctly SI is Service Info, where dealers can get the latest info on any emerging issues, and TAC is Technical Assistance Center, a direct line to Techs and Engineers at GM. As an engineer I worked with a lot of those guys and they were supper helpful in understanding what was going on out in the field.
I was happy it only took 11 days. Got it back Wednesday and took it back to the dealer yesterday. Options like turn off the truck and turn on/off the seat heaters did not work since I got the truck back. They turn themselves on with the low temps we are having... My butt was on fire... Couldn't turn it off.
@Roberteeeeeee Wow, I've never heard of that happening.
I'm really impressed with this! Its modern and stylish look is seriously eye - catching. It's the kind of design that makes you do a double - take. Whether it's sitting in a showroom or on the street, it stands out from the crowd.
Thanks! It turned out well. Taking it on a trip with my Silverado EV! ruclips.net/video/kzfVbE0mEUY/видео.htmlsi=qOiw1Jszyk_1ZmNt
So at the very best, your array is going to put 32kWh’s in your batteries in 8 hrs of sun. Once you run it through your inverter to charge your batteries, you’ll get 30kWh’s if you’re lucky. Your Tesla pulling that thing around is probably getting 1-1.5 miles per kWh hour. So being parked for 8 hours gets you 30-35 miles in perfect sunny conditions in the middle of summer. What’s the point? How much did the trailer cost to build, how much do the batteries weigh?
This one is now stationary in my drive. It is connected to an exterior generator plug and runs about 1/3 of my home that is on a sub feed. It came in too heavy, but it has 60 kWH of batteries. Each one is about 12 pounds and to make (4) 48 volt packs I used 64 cells. So my math says it 768 pounds in batteries alone. I built solar trailer version 2.0, and it is much lighter. I put the batteries in the bed of my Silverado EV. Doing a trip soon. The point of the build is that I enjoy these projects and it works well if you are camping and things like that. Not reasonable to think you would do a road trip with this. Checkout 2.0! ruclips.net/video/AZG3x9lKhuM/видео.htmlsi=JcZDbdBYo7d4jEaR
Hope they get you fixed up soon. It's unfortunate as I had high hopes for the gmc and silverado EV. This isn't a good start
No it is not. There is a youtube video I just found regarding a Silverado EV that has had 2 replacements and that truck only has 2,000 miles on it. Lots of failures on the Silverado EV forum but not sure why nobody is posting videos regarding the failures. Here is the other video: ruclips.net/video/8xn2qzXEsSE/видео.htmlsi=d3N3gRGxenH-2UJV
That's no good. Can they replace individual modules or do they have to do the whole pack?
The whole pack. Imagine if I had been on my Solar Cannonball Run to Florida and I could no longer charge! Stranded with my Solar Trailer.
@@Roberteeeeeee Yes! I am surprised GM is having these issues. Thanks for sharing, looking forward to your trip!

What are you doing with your old set ups? Selling them?

@@Roberteeeeeee okay if you ever sell let me know. I am putting a pop-up hard walled camper made by HardSider on my ford lightning I will have Solar on the roof connect to an Anker Solix F3800 which has almost 4000 W hours worth of energy storage and has a built-in Nema 14-50 so we can actually level two charge my Ford lightning. They say there’s only room for 400 W of solar, but I’m hoping maybe to get creative and see if there’s another location I can mount some solar panels. So basically I’m gonna end up with a mini version of what you’ve done. I prefer not to tow anything so I’m trying to figure out a way to do a similar set up but right on top of the truck basically.
You know you can hook your car or truck to your cell phone provider for data instead of using OnStar
You sir are a genius
Oh stop.... But seriously... Thanks for the comment. Motivates me to do another project. How about putting solar on my Silverado EV RST! Check back... ruclips.net/video/kzfVbE0mEUY/видео.htmlsi=c4VLC_DSvtHZSkD_
We, EV RST owners, got the new, black, portable EVSE with the pins in the squarish configuration. The old EVSE, that the Hummer and other models got, is white and has a straight flat plug. I want to buy the vehicle-to-vehicle adapter for the portable EVSE, but, the parts that work with that new charger don't seem to exist yet. I've been told maybe after the first of the year? It's frustrating. Keep checking.
I called the Chevy Consierge who were useless. He had no idea what he was talking about. Asked for my serial number on the charge because he thought I was talking about the charger you can buy and install. He had to keep checking with his team and every time he called back I had to remind him what my issue is. After about two weeks he told me, it's not available yet. I called the dealer and told them to give me the other charger (with the 4 pins in a line), then I can buy the V2V pigtail. Didn't happen. This sucks!
Onstar is the most ridiculous service known to man. My wife has it on her Bolt and I hate everything about it. The password input keeps popping up, you can’t use maps, you can’t use any other online service, customer service is garbage trying to activate it and they keep saying contact the dealer…. I don’t understand why Chevy won’t listen to their customers because onstar is garbage.
Coolest thing I’ve seen in a while
Thanks!
How do you intend to waterproof between panels?
@@kenkrick7596 I put silicone between all of the panels.

If it were my build, I wouldn’t bother running the cable into the house. I’d install an 18k EG4 inverter with 48amp charger under the carport, include a small battery and charge directly from there during the sunlight hours.
I’ll have to give that some thought. The issue is the weather. I am in PA and my batteries will freeze unless I enclose it.
Super impressive! Only thing my house has better than this is high ceilings. Such a great build!

Rob, I am in the forever troubleshoot phase of my 19,200 watt system. Sol Ark 15k, Q Cell 405 watt panels (48 of them). I have had many stops and starts over the last 18 months. I see your en route to nearly the same system. Everything is working great on mine BUT the PUD is hostile. The PUD was sending out 30 volt spikes to the both the net meter and house meter. The spikes cause the Sol Ark to trip and kill the solar system! It was happening everyday within a few minutes of each other, 1225 PM, mid day. The PUD pings the net meter and the house meter which trips the Sol Ark offline due to a ground fault detection. I complained and the PUD pulled the net meter, now I have only one meter again. However the very next day at 1:25 the Sol Ark tripped and went offline. And then the next day, at exactly 1:25 it did it again. The time of day is when my panels are generating, on a full sun day, 15,500 to 16,500 watts. In the beginning, right after I installed the system I was having random arc faults, but a week apart. I troubleshot everything and found no faults. Then I noticed the times were all the same for the arc faults. One explanation is the PUD does not like the extra power and trips my inverter to shut it down. The other issue is Sol Ark being super sensitive to pulses from the PUD triggering shut down. I can go a week with no problem but over the last month the PUD has become a pain in the ass by sending pulses to my meter and turning off my panels daily. Anyone out there have the same problem? The PUD admits there are other customers with the same problem and they had to pull the net meter, but the problem for me is persisting with the main house meter. I'm contacting Sol Ark to see if they have a solution to 'desensitize' the inverter. Good luck with your system. Your on the right track! BTW, you published the price of the carport, but stayed clear of the solar costs. I'd estimate your system will cost about $60,000 before rebate. Mine will be about $45,000 after rebate. The plus is my Tesla charges for free, no electric bills, house meter will generate a payback annually of about $1000. For anyone thinking the payback is too slow, remember you will get instant payback when you sell your home. My system, had it been installed by a contractor would have cost $100,000 to $120,000, but since I did it myself I saved a ton of cash! And the home value will jump by about $75,000 when I sell it as a Net Zero home. BTW the system is EMP hardened to DoD standards. Check out Sol Ark and EMP hardened inverters.
I am sorry but I don't think I can help since I have no experience with the Sol Ark Inverters. I looked at them but decided on the EG4 6000XPs since they add a layer of redundancy. You still have power if one goes down. I have 3 of them in parallel. Their support is no help?
@@Roberteeeeeee I have called Sol Ark and they remotely turned off arc fault notifications. The issue is not new to them, unfortunately I don't have arc fault protection now but then the PUD power coming into my home did not have arc fault protection either. The only arc fault protection was in circuits in my home where I had an arc fault circuit breaker. I love the idea of using multiple inverters for redundancy. For me a second Sol Ark 15k would run about $9000! Not doing that.
@@Roberteeeeeee I wanted to mention charging EV's off solar. Great for when the sun is shining. But during periods of overcast and rain your going to need the grid to charge. If you try solar batteries to charge the EV here is my experience; 840 Amp Hour batteries lose 2% SOC vs my Tesla gaining 1% charge. Its a loser to try to charge EV batteries with Solar batteries. The cost of the three EG4 batteries is about $12,000. I would need to add at least another 600 AMP hours or about $8500, to be able to charge the car from 20% to 80% and still remain above 20% SOC on the solar batteries. My average charge on the Tesla on the grid is 35 WHRS. My utility rate is .091 per KWHR. Just over $3 to charge her up to 80% at home on the grid. SO does it make sense to spend $20,000 on batteries or just be happy with sunny day EV charging and cloudy day grid charging?
@@MrDadioDude I agree with your math. This was never about saving money since I only pay .10 per kWh. It is about energy independence. I have 3 EG4 6000XP in parallel, so 18kW of AC power. I have about 22 kW of solar that feeds them. and I have 135 kWh of battery storage. I put the battery packs together myself (well with the help of Will Prowse's Channel). I need one more inverter in parallel in order to charge at 19.2kW/80-amp output. The Silverado EV has a 205 kWh battery so I need the juice. BTW, I think you lose about 20% converting from DC to AC to only have your charger feed the internal inverter and convert it back to DC. I wish they would give me PV inputs to go right from Solar to the battery! Thanks for the comment.
The independence is the biggest selling point here. Well done.
Yepper!

Charging locations are not tied to OnStar service. It’s actually a bug in the software they are fixing. I have onstar and it doesn’t work for me either.

@@Roberteeeeeee we’re looking for something around 80KW have you seen the solis inverters ? Seems to have all certs wondering if anyone else has a good opinion on them
Wouldn't it be cool if you extended the solar panels off the back of the trailer by a couple feet - similar to the "trailer tails" you see on some 18-wheelers? You'd gain some aerodynamic efficiency AND gain room forward on the trailer for more solar! :)
I could easily do that since the back panel is on struts and opens easily... I could put a supporting piece in between the frame and the panel to lock it in place... voilà I have a trailer tail!
Yes I had to look up the proper spelling of voilà
Finally a review on this Chevy truck where the reviewer is not kissing GM's ass. Every review I've seen so far on the Chevy Silverado EV is Promotional and fake.
I appreciate that! There are some other weird things going on like when I connect my phone to bluetooth and am playing music through the truck, my maps no longer tells me there is a turn coming up. Tesla's do this...
Good stuff. I hope that Chevy is planning on introducing a van on the same platform. I’d be first in line.
Me too... I would build it out! 205 kWh of storage... It would blow Riven vans and the Mercedes eSprinter... I would sell the Silverado in a second...

You're welcome
I have two of the all power 600 & I think you might need 4 to get the voltage you need for that inverter
You are correct. The ALLPOWERS SP039 only outputs 44 volts and in series, 88 volts (I didn't need to do the math for you), but the EG4 6000 xp requires 100 volts. minimum to charge. I can use those to charge my portable 600 ah 12 volt pack (watch that video too). But I just ordered two of the ALLPOWERS SF400 Monocrystalline Flexible Solar Panel and they output 63.1 volts each so I can use those on one of the PV inputs at 126 volts. Good Catch!
This is cool!😊
