So some how I have messed up my fill tool. So what's happening is when I make a shape and go to fill it. It doesn't fill with the color. But some white and gray kind of lattice thing. Like a texture canvas I guess. I've clicked on the fill gradient, fill pattern and the foreground color selector. Non of them give me the option to just fill with one color of my choice.

even though this is a pretty quick tutorial, you did a great job of explaining the basics. excited to start designing.
