Great walk around our fair city :) I used to go to TMU for both my undergrad/graduate school programs, so I'm quite familiar with the area around Yonge/Dundas and Nathan Philips Square. They have some really great cultural food festivals (e.g., especially in the summertime), like the Dragon Boat Festival, Indian Food Festivals, etc. All great vibes around during those times, while it appears quite barren in the fall/winter months xD Also, its great that you plucked up the courage to show us the DT core area during odd hours. E.g., around 4AM. I wouldn't have the patience to do that myself lol. Too many mentally unstable and/or homeless people around. Of course, I emphasize with their situations, as we're not all privileged to come from stable backgrounds, so who knows what's gone on in their lives that they find themselves in the situations that they are in now. Hoping the best for them though. I see you picked up a 7/11 Uber Eats order? I was a little nervous for you because a homeless person seemed to have been sleeping just a few feet away from the 7/11. You never know how some people might react especially when your back is turned, but glad to see that you were safe while picking up your order. Anywho, guess I'm rambling on too much haha. Great video my friend, and really looking forward to seeing more. Cheers!
Oh yeah it was a food order from 7/11 haha, how did you know? They lock the doors at that time so the guy had to come over and drop off the food in the door. Great to hear you are familiar with the area, my brother graduated from the same school!
awesome buddy
Toronto its New York 2
I love this one
Thanks William! It was like a whole new world
@LifeofWalk your welcome and I agree with you
I love that your video isn't using any annoying music or annoying intros or graphics or anything...literally just walking footage and just gets right into it. Please keep your videos like this and I will keep watching. Great video to have on while reading, working, sleeping, etc.

I worked around the corner during and after the demolition of the The Globe and Mail and never envisioned this place to look this nice. I hope it brings a new attention and interest to the area; not that it really needed it. The traffic there is abysmal as it currently is at virtually all hours of the day. If they can move forward with the park across the street above the railroads tracks then it will be completed.
very much high end stores. not for locals with high rents or mortgages. lots of activity south of the RR tracks. was there. very nice. have not returned.
Wow, the TTC is cleaner than the MTA! Better trains, too.

It's Aug "the Well" is the talk of town. The food court is awesome. No there really not much for shopping.
I need to check it out again! Your update sounds awesome. Hopefully the shops will come by Christmas!
All the malls are closing? I'm not aware of a lot of Toronto malls that have closed.
Ohh just piss off,the TTC is the safest and most technologically advanced subway system in North America
This is exactly what I was looking for. The ttc subway always lulled me into a sleep. There's a distinct sound it has that i couldn't find in other videos. Thank you!
Very cool to hear. Thank you!
The Well is horrible and will be dead in the winter and the sound system is way toooooo loud!
Blah blah blah. This is just basically nyc on a daily basis
What date do u take it?
Oh the glory days of China Town center when you could walk in buy burnt cds, dvds games, mod your PlayStation and more. Spent alot of my early years chilling in this mall.
An entire mall filled with utter crap.......
That’s lion dancing! Not a dragon.
I think you're right! It looks too short!
looks like a mall in a 3rd world country
God forbid a country has small businesses instead of the same megacorporate store chains in every mall
Completely filled with useless crap........
This mall used to be awesome.
It was busier at the time because of the Asian Heritage Market which is only a weekend-long event.
The old Chinatown Centre mall opened back in the 1980s. This place had its best days in the '80s and '90s before other Chinatowns started popping up further north, first in Scarborough, and then in Markham and Richmond Hill. I have hopes that this mall will have a revival. What could help drive that are the many people moving into and living downtown and also the future Ontario LIne subway station at Queen and Spadina. There used to be a restaurant or restaurants on the upper floors back then. If I remember correctly, there are still restaurants there on the upper floor(s), the last time I was there a couple of years ago. If there are good Chinese restaurants, people will go. Look at Congee Queen which opened this past September on Yonge, just north of Dundas. It's a pretty big restaurant and I heard it's packed with people. What the mall needs now is an owner that can make the investments that is needs to bring it back to life.
Thanks for the details, very hard to find historical documentation on this place. Very true, I walk by Congee Queen often and it's always packed! Hoping the same, that they can make something of a decent location!
@@LifeofWalk I found this piece of history just now. I hadn't seen this before. jamiebradburnwriting.wordpress.com/2020/11/26/past-pieces-of-toronto-china-court/
The mall would benefit from a complete facelift. From the outside to the inside. The mall feels like a relic from the old days. It doesn't feel like a modern mall like Sherway Gardens or Eaton Centre. There needs to be an injection of life. Which, as of now, does not have.
secutity should be at each door...allow in they right folks. Shoppers / not shoplifters... Keep it clean and add some food vendors...
You are somewhat prepared for Co-op City in The Bronx. 50k+ residents and not near the end of subway line. Built nearly same time, 35 high rises, some 'townhouse' clusters, on two superblocks with some shopping and school etc. The apartments may be inferior to what is at Crescent Town. If you visit NYC, you can take a direct 'Express bus' (BxM7) directly to visit.,
Thank you. Haha I always wondered about those townhouse clusters, they look interesting on the outside, almost brutalist in design but never seen the inside of one.
During one time when I visited and vacationed in Toronto, The travel agent booked me at The Radisson East Toronto since I was traveling by myself back in the early 2000's and I would pass by Crescent Town when I would get off the bus to go to the subway. Thanks for posting. 👍👍👍👍. Close At the end of the video when you show a presto card it reminds me I have to Get an OMNY card which they have finally started to release in New York City.
Oh yeah south on Victoria Park you must've traveled and its right before the subway station. It took me awhile to get used to the card but now I see how simpler it can make transfers from bus or train, give it a try! and thank you!
Thank very much for the detailed tour. I will be visiting Toronto this summer for the first time, and this video will help me navigate through the city. Again, thanks.👍🏻
Good luck with your travels, hope you enjoy your visit!
I’m not an expert on dragons but that appears to just be 2 guys in a costume
lol 😁
Very gay arobics
Isn't this place new???
cool
I enjoyed the video. Keep up with the great work!
Thank you! 🙏
I was at work. In back-to-back virtual client advisory meetings at my home office, during the eclipse and so I wasn't able to get a good view lol. Albeit, I did slightly open up my window blinds to get a view of the eclipse out of my peripheral vision. You would think with the sun getting blocked out and all by the moon that aliens and other interdimensional eldritch horrors would appear from a portal up in the sky, but thankfully we were all spared that kind of armageddon (kidding of course ;D).
Multitasking to get a view, impressive! 😁
@@LifeofWalk Yeah, unfortunately I couldn't make it too obvious to the client because I was on MS Teams, and the video cam was on, so they can see my movements clearly on the other end xD
45:51 *Roaring twenties* - We may (arguably) be living in that kind of an era in present day. 2020s Great video! Love the walks and the historical elements that you showcase based on the areas that you visit outside and inside the buildings, malls, etc. Keep it up! ~ A fellow Torontonian
Haha, true! Thanks so much for the kind words, hope to see you around the city! 🙏
Any City like Toronto without brothels it's going to suck I never understood why brothels are so strictly controlled and they have no women to work and all the prostitutes are so ugly I will never go to the garbage City of Toronto again
People have no money in Canada
Explain. (Ha! Ha!) Ken, Toronto, CANADA
Everybody is on debt here in canada, no one has actual money. I can bet people in India or other poor countries actually have more cash on them then Canadians. The system here is delusional, people are fooled in to thinking they have money@@kenselin
@@Deira854 But Life in Canada is far superior than the grinding poverty of such back waters as India
@@DjWellDressedMan Only pollution factor is way better. But if you rich or upper middle class there life probably there is better
You can hang out there before a Blue Jay or Raptors or Leaf game, and i think parking is $20/day, ok i guess.
Boring and dead athmosphere. Architecture is at the image of the city. Unattractive and without any character. Used to walk past few times when I lived in King West. No idea they were building that. Not a good idea in my opinion as retail industry in Canada is in decline. Everything is online. They will open big brand stores but they won't last and will close down fast. Also the neighborhood is not attractive at all by being next to bland Cityplace and not close to offices and companies. I really think its gonna be a fail.
Retail industry in decline? You're thinking USA where they are "continually" bordering up shops because AMERICANS ARE SO BROKE. :D Ken, Toronto, CANADA
@@kenselin Yes in decline. Talking about brick and mortar. The amount of shops closing here is huge in Toronto. Rents are too high and ppl buy online cause cheaper and more choices.
Oh so frightening. Clickbait me please
LOL literally every parking garage in Toronto 😂
