Yes, there is a rear facing camera as well as rear facing flood lights.

Absolutely. Those stairs have a rise of 7" and a run of 10". They have an excessive overhang to make climbing more difficult.

Thanks! I have seen that TurfTank robot. Really pretty cool concept. This project was very challenging as we needed to design a robot that could be robust enough for an agricultural environment, operate for long hours, and still be narrow enough to fit between 12-14" corn rows.

RUclips promotion is a relatively new thing for The Machine Lab but we are working hard to gain some viewers. Thank you for the compliment on our new Brute tracked platform. It is a veritable pack mule of a robot.

The robot is controlled via wireless 2.4GHz radio link by a hand held controller. The video is sent back to the control station monitor on a 5.8GHz wireless diversity link. We have tested the system reliably at up to 1000 feet line of sight.

One of the other sensors used was a 6 axis load cell that was incorporated into the forearm of the robot. This allowed the University of Calgary team to measure the forces on the arm as the robot manipulated objects in its gripper. They may have more information on their website about the project.

We have a longer model on the way that will have passive suspension.

Sand should be no problem. Sand can build up in the tracks if the robot spins in place for an extended period of time but the drive wheels are designed with holes them which allows the sand or other debris to fall through the wheel and work its way back out.
