Traditional Irish Folk Song, lyrics by Pádraic Colum, music by Herbert Hughes. The melody is in Mixolydian mode, (major scale with a flattened seventh), which is fairly common in Irish and Scottish traditions. Many versions have been recorded, including Fairport Convention (1968), Art Garfunkel feat. The Chieftans (1977), Mary Black (1984), Boyzone (1996) and Sinéad O’Connor (1997). Lyrics: My ...

Great music! So uplifting 🎉 I subscribed to hear more☺️🎶
@@Incredible_Piano Thanks so much, hopefully I’ll add something else you like soon! 😊
Hi Brigit! wonderful performance! How many years it took you for such a good technique?
Hi! Thanks for your comment. I learned this one from Pianote. I’m been learning with them for 2 years. They have a lot of Blues and Boogie Woogie content. I’m an adult returning student so I did a few years of lessons when I was much younger too.
😍😍😍
@@hallimelton5053 Thanks Halli!!! Lovely to see you here! ❤️
Wow! That’s so pretty. I love it
@@stevesutherland8247 Thanks so much!
That was really nice! 😊👏 🎶 And all those flats...😅
@@portlypianist Thanks so much, actually a lot of flats isn’t as hard as it looks I find. Only have to remember 2 white notes in Gb Major.
@@brigidmansell Oh, that's surprising to hear. I thought they would add quite a bit of extra challenge. This song sure has a lot of them. 😀
Beautiful Brigid 👏👏👏🎶🎶🎹🎹💗💗
@@colleensmith6655 Thanks so much Colleen! 🎹❤️

@@arinaarina2105 Thanks! ☺️
Terrific would love the sheet music!!!
@@janeS9773 I’m afraid I don’t have the sheet music. It’s in the key of Gb major. I learned the chord progression which uses Gb major, Eb minor, Db major and Cb major. The melody is played by ear, starting on Bb. It uses all the black keys, plus F and Cb on white keys. Hope that might get you started!
This is so awesome!
@@tiffanygray3577 Thanks so much !
Wow! That's wonderful! Great job!
@@chopinlvr Thanks so much !
Really nice, Brigid! (wife now looking for sheet music 🙂)
Lovely playing Brigid!

One of my favorite pieces, I play it almost daily and never get tired of it. Beautiful playing Brigid. ❤

@@BeanieResonance Thanks so much for your kind words! 😊
Beautiful Brigit! You make everything look easy, effortless and expressive!👏😍I came to love Handel’s music after playing his Impertinence. This sounds like another chords-driven piece, like Mr B’s Prelude😉 I may give it a go, another candidate for memorization perhaps?😊
@@honghongecker969 Yes definitely!! You will enjoy this piece, and it is the easiest piece I’ve ever tried to memorise. Learn the repeated chord progression and master the fingering. It’s in the Pianote songs library. I decided from the start to study the sheet music but never play with it. So it’s solid in my memory now. Looking forward to hearing your progress!
Nice and clear performance of this famous Passacaglia 👏🏻 I like it and subscribed 👍🏻🎶
@@pianothingsmusic Thanks so much! It’s such a lovely piece to play. ☺️

Bravo Brigid .. You made this song your own and "Boy Wonder" smile :) You're a huge INSPIRATION to all those who know and follow you on PIANOTE. Now it's time for me to practice and follow your lead. Cheers
@@ronaldmckeown3380 Thanks so much for your support and kind words Boy Wonder! I’m really glad you enjoyed it. I’ve learnt so much from Pianote lessons and other members. Keep practicing! I believe in you! ☺️
I love Stride piano, that was excellent, you have a lot of talent Brigid🙂T3
@@musicmanvideo-piano5337 Thanks so much Tony, the Stride and Ragtime lessons on Pianote are so much fun!
@@brigidmansell I have started the Stride course but you made it look easy🙂 I seen you were playing the Octaves for the Stride
You are at another level Brigid, and this looks like a real ‘octave workout’! It sounds beautiful and I just love watching your hands…so relaxed ❤
@@JanePryce Thanks so much. It’s a really enjoyable piece to play. Once everything clicked, my hands just seemed to know where to go. I’m not usually good at memorising, but this was by far the easiest piece to memorise as it’s just repeating patterns. I recommend it!
Amazing! Beautifully played with great expression. 👏🎶
@@portlypianist Thanks so much !
That was really nice. 👏
@@portlypianist Thanks so much. Simple but a pretty melody. I don’t know if you know the song, but it is beautiful when sung. Look up Sinéad O’Connor or other artists.
@@brigidmansell The song was not familiar to me but I looked up Sinéad's version of it now. And listened your playing again. You have captured the essence of the song really well.
"Fly Me To The Moon" uses this chord progression. Another popular tune based on classical music.
@@Tchessi Thanks so much for pointing that out, must check it out!
@@brigidmansell Sure! Another example would be Groovy Kind of Love based on Clementi and Eric Carmen's All By Myself on Rachmaninoff.

This is my favorite piece and you truly rendered it beautifully. I started practicing it but found it difficult although the same pattern happens over and over. Congratulations, your are truly inspiring me to keep on practicing it. 😊
@@danielgaudet871 Thanks so much. I quickly realised that I was better off memorising this piece, instead of reading the sheet music.
It is easier for me to memorize it instead of reading for sure. Keep on inspiring us !
Wow Brigid, this gave me goosebumps! I was fascinated by what your right hand was playing! You're extremely talented ❤
@@fi6844 Thanks so much for your kind comment! This is a Pianote member favourite! It is a great one to play from memory (my weakness) because it’s just patterns. But coordinating the two hands together took a bit of practice til it suddenly clicked.
Beautiful rendition. You play skillful and fluently. I have started playing it but at the level of getting the keys in place. Maybe one day, if I continue practicing, I will get as good you.
