Welsh Oggie, this is a Welsh Pasty, made using Lamb not Beef, the Oggie goes back over 800 years, 1st getting mentioned in 1181 when St Davids Cathedral was being built, so predates the Cornish Pasty(allegedly), although this may be disputed, also a quick and easy Welsh Cake recipe, a Welsh Type scone

    Another Welsh input for the Welshcakes -- soak the currants in tea for a coupla hours before cooking -- and a generous pinch of mixed spice.

    I always make welsh cakes with half butter & half lard, no idea if that's a traditional recipe or not (I'm scottish) but it was the first recipe I found when looking for one. So easy to make and absolutely delicious!

    The difference I see with the Oggie vs the Cornish pasty is that the contents is cooked in the pastry and the Welsh version cooked prior to filling.

    Just one last addition, we spread a little butter on Welsh cakes before eating them, it's funny on YT you see a lot of people making reaction videos where they try Welsh Cakes (Cacen Gri) just as they are and any Welsh person watching will be screaming put some butter on them!

    There is a pasty chain in the west country called oggy’s. And cornish and welsh are mutually intelligible so oggies and pasties probably come from share celtic origin.

    Hi .I am welsh and proper welsh cakes are made on a Griddle stone.I don't think yours are bad, but a tip is add some lemon zest or essence to the mix. Diolche. ( Thank you)

    Good job mate, but I did think you struggled to fillet the fish with what looks like a very rigid steak knife. End result looks lovely and tasty and might try this with another type of freshwater fish that I can find. Cheers!

    Borscht (or borshch) is a Ukrainian dish, although cooked a lot in russia as well. Making it with beef doesn't make it russian.

    I've not used it recently but if I recall it gives you a brief description of the contents, yours probably said cakes and pastries or the like, the usual sandwich and pastry go the fastest
