I had a red lored Amazon who came to me woth such severe malnutrition the main flight feathers were gone from folicle damage. Freddie had gout too. I tried desperately to find an avian vet who could help do something like this. Whether or not it could have been done we'll never know. After 11 joyous years together, he left for the other side.

Just received this giant hood. For over $200 (total with the outrageous shipping charges - which the website says the weight is 9 pounds but it actually much less), I was not happy with the quality for the price. Assembly was super tough. This video makes it look easy, but unless you have super long arms, it’s going to be very frustrating. The perch sits too far forward in the box and leaves almost no room for the bird to face the door. It has an open drain on the floor of the box to drain mutes. It comes punched out, and doesn’t allow the option to keep or remove. Now I’ll have to seal the hole so mutes don’t leak all over the inside of my vehicle during transport. I would NOT recommend this product for your hawk/falcon.

Have you ventured to price out the materials alone? I calculated at $100+ and that would be if you downgraded some components. Then the online blueprints to build your own are a complete mind****. Honestly, $160 seemed like a bargain to me. It was easier to put together than IKEA furniture. I suck at building things (hence the reason I bought one), and the video made it pretty straight forward. Would 100% recommend. Other options on the market are a green metal box that seems like a sauna and costs an extra $100. This thing is sweet.

Glad to see you have these back in stock. Just bought two. The only way these won't work is if a "head shooter" comes in and kills the pigeon without hitting the nooses. These really beat a leather harness.

Hi. Thank-you for posting this video. I rescued a young abandoned nestling which was bodily bald down one side with a weaker leg & foot in comparison to the other side. It's now two months old, still bald with weaker footwork down that side. Just as it was sorting its footwork out via the lift from her wings ( of which both were good ) one by one, it has broken all her primary flight feathers down her weaker side (where it kept falling over and pushing back up again.) Although it stands ok, It now scrabbles around the ground in circles as powered by its intact, good wing. It's all heartbreaking to watch. I have thought about clipping the good wing to even its balance, but i think it needs every chance to learn to fly in its infancy. I might try your approach here listed, so can you please advise on which type of glue to use? Thank-you for any advice you can offer.
