Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Alpha vs 2020 Graphics Comparison - Grand Canyon Run #msfs2024
While these simulators may look and feel similar in nature, 2024 has many highly worthwhile performance and visual upgrades throughout that shows how far Asobo Studios is truly pushing for realism. Some notable graphic upgrades include:
- F18E: better model, engine, physics, and maneuvering air jettison.
- Ground details like cliff faces, dynamic grass and trees, photogrammetry for Grand Canyon, and more updated imagery
- Particle effects revamped, especially on engines
- Sky box, sun, and moon rendered more true to life
I have also separated the audio channels for 2024 on the left and 2020 on the right.
Note that my route in 2020 ended up different and slower than 2024 due to no pylon guides ...

While the the textures definitely have a nice bump in fidelity, I feel it's slightly lacking in color. Reshade can always change that, though. I was fortunate enough to have tested the alpha, and I have to say, It is definitely a major step forward from the previous title in every other way. I'm looking forward to its release!
2024 looks sooo great even if its alpha.. but the sex noises feel weird
That gameplay makes it look like an old Sega arcade game. If I get the sim, I’m not gonna touch most of the career modes.
Even its an alpha its a great looking sim the textures and the heat map rendering is very rich in details amazing !

@paulbecker8983 I agree! Some people in the community expected the full game to release with this Alpha build, or expect the bugs and missing features to be in the final build when it releases next month. But after trying this alpha out, I'm certainly going to keep my pre-order for the full sim and I'm even more hyped to see how it's going to turn out!

This was done in the Grand Canyon's North Rim around the coordinates of 36.566683,-112.671380 The photogrammetry does make the Grand Canyon look a ton better, but this still is not even the full sim with the procedurally generated ground details as this is an old Alpha build. In the absence of photogrammetry, the lighting and textures are noticeably far better with ray tracing and CPU multithreading (my GPU is only a regular 2060 so it barely can push up to 30 fps with RT on)
Generally cities are scaled 1:3 and roadways are scaled 1:20. They do have the trolleys in SF, but I don't think they spawn in the bit that you drove in.
Yup! I had some large brain farts on the area since it's been a couple of years since I've seen it. I meant to say it was a 1 to 3 scale time within cities since it took me almost an hour in game to leave Modesto city limits due to the number of lights and surprisingly decent road layout. Next time I will pull up a tab with Google Maps to correct some of my own errors about details with scaling. I do know these historic streetcars should be able to run through the Embarcadero on the same track as MUNI as they come from Market (or however they implemented market by the Highway 80 entrance) and loops back just before Fisherman's Wharf (100% missing in game sadly). The cable car trolleys are still in game off their representation of Hyde St which I didn't go to in this video. Thank you for watching though!

lucky bastards, they need to go somewhere to see planes. I have planes and helicopters flying over my head bc of airport nearby, and windows don't help with the noise a lot -____-

PLEASE NOTE: I have already uploaded an update 3 days after the release of this ride blueprint on the Steam Workshop that fixes issues with the station, scenery, and of course the track layout (including completely redesigning the 2nd inversion to be more fluid). The video was shot before this update.
