Phideaux - Friction (Full Album) (Not On Spotify)
Phideaux Xavier's first and very rare-to-find album, here presented for the first and only time in its entire form. I did not translate any of the tracks, as the main objective is for us to experience the listening of this hidden gem.
"What you have in your hand is an artifact from a naive time. "Friction" was an attempt to pull together many disparate strands into a cohesive conceptual album organized around the elements of Air, Fire, Water and Earth. This can rightly be called my 'Pagan' period. I was also attempting to write songs that were positive (for the most part) about rebirth and life. I'd been through a period of writing very nihilistic material.
However, this was a DIY album and...

After listening through this album a few times, I can’t understand why Phideaux has chosen to disown this album entirely as some massive past shame. While the album is far from perfect, and suffers from some pretty bad sound mixing in places and some fairly mediocre lyrics (which honestly still is something Phideaux is pretty weak with at times), some of the songs here are honestly on par with some of the best songs from the first three “officially acknowledged” Phideaux albums.
I don't know, but he should definitely reconsider revisiting it. I know some people may dislike it, but there are many others who love it and believe, even though it's only an experiment, that this is a great album. The man is pouring talent here at every turn. There have been other official albums by him I have had a hard time getting through, but with this one I did immediately. I don't understand his reasons behind disowning it, either, but anyway, I guess we will never know. A real shame!
Thank you for uploading this, being a huge fan of Phideaux I’ve wanted to listen to this album for the longest time, but haven’t been able to, aside from a few songs I’ve managed to find online.

I somehow lost interest in TD after the Faedra/Rubicon era (their best for me), as i found their sound turning too "commercial" and predictable. This however, is my most favorite after Rubicon TD album.
