Kendrick Lamar- GNX- ALBUM REVIEW
The last album from West Coast rapper Kendrick Lamar. Following his beef with Drake he released a surprise album that touches upon previous topics in his albums while also giving a shine to the west coast with electric features from up and coming rappers who make the most of their time. An overall great album that fits nicely into Kendrick’s discography.

Juice WRLD- The Party Never Ends- ALBUM REVIEW

J Mascis- What Do We Do Now?- ALBUM REVIEW

Dinosaur Jr Singer and Guitarist J Mascis gives us his 4th Studio Album What Do We Do Now? A decent showing from him with excellent use of tender vocals and acoustic guitars on some songs but overall mild on the other songs. No necessarily bad songs but nothing that stands out and especially not after a long wait from his last album Elastic Days. Experimental Rock/Singer Songwriter/Alt Country/...

Glass Beach- Plastic Death- ALBUM REVIEW(Reuploaded)
Ngl when Kendrick headlined the Super Bowl the first time I wasn’t exactly thrilled about it because I hated and still do hate a lot of his big singles off damn…like that was my Kendrick version of 1989…dark times
I want to get one thing out of the way first, I love Kendrick. I love the way he acknowledges LGBTQ+ artists, Female Songwriters, Black women (yes this point could be under female songwriters, but given how rap is I think it’s worth making its own point), non rap artists in general, and West coast rappers being influences in his music. I like that he stood up for Meghan thee stallion while she was getting hate for getting shot in the foot. His lyric work is insane. Ok, so now that everyone knows my biases, I just want to say that in a lot of ways GNX kinda acts as a re-debut record for Kendrick, while the album touches on beef he has had, he doesn’t linger on that to much which is probably why Not like Us and Meet the grahams aren’t on the album despite people (mostly me) wanting them on there. The features flow very well on this album, I didn’t catch the fact that they were different artists on my first few listens outside of the Sza features. The album takes its time re-introducing Kendrick very well though. The intro especially , even down to the production of it introduces him.i don’t have much to say on this album other than it’s one of his best, probably his best since Untitled unmastered. So the album is a 9.5 out of 10 for me
@@CatNagTaylorsVersion all good points
If your looking continuing 2024 album reviews into early 2025, I would love to see you review “The tortured poets department the complete anthology”- Taylor Swift, “The great impersonator”- Halsey, “Short and Sweet”- Sabrina Carpenter, “Eternal Sunshine”- Ariana Grande, “My wonderland”-The Ade, “Rosie”-Rose, “Sweet dreams/Cosmic”-Red Velvet Meghan Act I and Meghan Act II- Meghan thee stallion, and “Step like We;Na”-We;Na. For better or for worse these have become the albums I can’t help but either needing to know peoples opinions on them
you should get an editor m8
How many posthumous albums is this man gonna have…like at what point do we start debating the morality of this many releases
@@CatNagTaylorsVersion i Think it’s already being debated. There have been tasteful posthumous releases like Circles by Mac Miller and Sophie’s album. But these are just tasteless and money grabs.
I don’t remember this record that well if I did listen to it but I think it’s still on a “I need to listen at one point” list for me but I recognize 1 song title from it
@@CatNagTaylorsVersion it’s not a bad album and think people should listen to it. But I didn’t feel as much for it despite liking the concept of aging in music. Still worth a try cause someone might like it more then I did. Plus a good artist
@@MusicMann1333 honestly I’m still waiting for something to stick with me from J Mascis, I know that sounds kinda pretentious but It’s not, trust my my standards aren’t exactly high for memorable music, like C*ckblocker by Kim Petras is probably the best example I could give of that. But I feel like I keep hearing about how legendary he is and I just want to be able to say I finally clicked with something

@ hope so lol! But now I can sleep
@@MusicMann1333 that’s good
I loved this album, I don’t know if I should be the one reviewing it because this just feels like the most Taylor swift record in the folk genre since folklore, evermore, and TTPD the anthology. So I was primed to enjoy this album as a grower ( I didn’t like Taylor’s folk stuff even the folk stuff pop on first listen generally). Also if we take the Taylor aspects out of this album entirely, this album really just does also have elements of almost every album I’ve heavily enjoyed this year. I will say this is probably the least Lura she’s been on an album In awhile. So I’ll give it a 9/10 I don’t know if I should be reviewing this record or not but I enjoyed it
@@CatNagTaylorsVersion anyone can review any album. It’s the beauty of it. I’m not a parent but I give a lot of praise to those aspects in the album.
@@MusicMann1333 I think if you saw my Chromakopia review you would heavily disagree. I didn’t comment it for a reason
@ fair enough. Everyone’s allowed their opinion. I’ll have different opinions then you but part of life.
I wouldn’t mind fantantos review if he actually reviewed the music and not her as a person or insult her issues. This isn’t a music review at this point. It’s just an attack on her. It’s not a music review at this point. It’s a hit piece
Ablum is very mixed. People really like and some don’t. Typical coming from yeat

@ valid. Pink Tape caught a little bit of a stray lol. It wasn’t a great album but had a lot of highlights and I thought it was a better exploration of modern combinations of rock and rap music together
5 hit songs on Jim's debut album no other debut album ever did that. can you name those 5 songs?....
@@tonetone7572 purple haze, Foxey Lady, Hey Joe, Fire, Wind Cries Mary? One of the greatest debut rock albums of all time
Watching this before I’ve fully heard this album
@@CatNagTaylorsVersion lol. The album wasn’t for me, but there were at least 2 songs I thought were decent enough. Lemme know what you thought of the album
@ I ended up listening to the album in full after the review and I can safely say this album isn’t for me, he has yet to drop an album I think really grabs me but this feels like his most bland offering to date, nothing really bad per say but nothing to make me want to go back. I’m sure 2-3 songs may grow on me as usually does when a project is at least half way decent but people doing what Uzi has been trying to do better, and also more genres and rappers who aren’t trying to do what Uzi is doing I’m struggling to see why I should go back. I love that Uzi is trying to experiment with his sound and niche even if I don’t always love the outcome, I actually think he should really take some of the experimentation and do a collab album with Bebe Rexha, there previous collab “die for a man” is where I think Uzi really hit his stride, I think this album actually does border on territory sound wise that Bebe has been playing with too. With that being said I think this album is probably a 4/10 and I need a Bebe collaboration album on my desk soon
@ very well spoken. I think they’d do well with a collab album in general, they tend to do well with another person as they bring their best paired with others. While I’m not the biggest Lil Uzi fan I get what people like about the music. I just sadly feel this to be one of the worst ones.
I watch Fantano for years and I disagree on a lot of his takes but I don’t think he deserves all the backlash for this review. Some of the critics he made were stupid but the reason why they were was because he came into the review uninformed about Halsey’s situation, which is understandable. The guy reviews hundreds and hundreds of albums, he consumes them very fast so he can cover everything that is going on in the music scene. Not everyone knew about the backstory and what Halsey went through, I didn’t know about it either until people mentioned it under his comment section.
@@peterstanchev3156 understandable, I didn’t know it either. BUT I will say to be incredibly bold in his criticism and comments and not to have researched it is asking for problems.
I mean the whole main character syndrome is more about halsey trying to recreate other big artists sounds and not really nailing it? You can disagree with his opinion, but i don't think he meant it in a way of saying she's being dramatic or whatever
@@mint9610 that could be the case. I haven’t seen that argument mentioned(or at least prevalently shown somewhere) but it’s completely possible which is why I said I hoped it was something that could be explained
Halsey was diagnosed with Lupus and T cell disorder. She already suffers from Endometriosis, Anxiety, Bi-polar disorder, and Depression too. She also became a single mother because she was sick and thought she was going to pass and leave her child an orphan. There’s other stuff on the album as well but that’s the illness part of it
@@CatNagTaylorsVersion absolutely horrifying. Anxiety and depression are the closest I can relate too and saying relate is by the thinnest margins. I knew listening to it that it wasn’t anything in other albums, especially from such a popular artist
I loved this album personally, I think this speaks to a very human experience that we don’t hear from almost at all, especially in music. However I think that if you’re not part of the demographics that will go through or are going through it then I imagine this album is speaking in tongues,or gibberish. So while I think this is a 10/10 legendary, generation, revolutionary album I can see how people not in that demographic, especially straight men without children or any medical conditions may not like the album or think it’s putting much on the table for them. I just wish everyone would be respectful while reviewing it and I don’t think Fantano or pitchfork were reviewing it in great faith
@@CatNagTaylorsVersion I 100% get that, and while I didn’t review the album, any album I do review positive or negative is just my opinion and while I get experiences can influence opinions on albums 100%, you can’t fully brush off people who didn’t like the album as not in demographics, there are people who we all unknowingly are going through horrible stuff. I was more critical of the musicality of the album, as a concept and theme it’s incredibly personal and great
@@MusicMann1333 I’m not saying that people can’t like it if there not in the demographic, I’m also saying that people in the demographic have to love it. I’m saying that when it was being reviewed by Fantano and pitchfork in this case, they ether dug in on Halsey for having these illnesses or circumstances instead of trying to reach a point of understanding of what the album was made in. It’s the lack of respect that Ive seen with the people not in this demographic that I was hoping to call out with my comment
@ I can agree with that. Fantano and the pitchfork article writer was incredibly antagonistic towards her and the pitchfork writer did criticize musically her for stuff not on the album(couldve talked about that on the video but dumb me) sorry if I misconstrued your words.
@@MusicMann1333 I don’t think you did, I just think that I couldn’t convey my thoughts clearly while giving an album review. RUclips reviewer Elijohn Macranas did a great review of the album, he opt’ed out of giving a in depth review of the subject as to not be ignorant on each subject but did give his knowledge on everything he could speak about. He did give the album a higher score than pitchfork and fantano. I will also say that I was a bit more crazy in that comment section with how great I do think the album is (it was posted very close to the albums release and I was passionate lol). Anyways besides the point the standards he set in his review of the album of being respectful about the subject matter was the standards I was hoping would be carried out by everyone
@ I’ll have to give that review a listen. Sounds interesting, and I’ve been passionate about albums as well, especially when it details something I can relate to, so I 100% get it. Love the discussion and glad you love and get so much out of the album! Do you have a favorite song from it?
I think people are irritated cause he’ll criticize artists and people for comments that are bad, but when he does it it’s different. I could imagine Kanye West saying that about an artist and Fantano would rip him for it
she has chronic issues that give her pain and cancer thats why she thought she would die
