K'GARI HIDDEN PAST - Bet You Didn't Know This About Fraser Island!
Просмотров 4666 месяцев назад
K'gari hasn't always been a World Heritage-listed PARADISE. K'gari, fka Fraser Island has a long and storied history. From a time before European settlements, to Frontier conflicts, ship wrecks, logging and sand mining, Native Title to the Butchulla people, bush fires and more. It's an island of extreme beauty but also has many dangers. This episode Gaz takes us through a forgotten logging camp...
yeah nah---ill solder mine
No worries! Solder is fine too, I'm just not a super fan of using it on flex.
in colder weather if your turning it on and off dose it hit you with a spray of cold when you turn it on each time before it heats up?
Not if the time between uses is quick, consecutive showers are fine, doesn't cool off too quick however we haven't used it in super cold areas, in the snow would be a different storey haha, Thanks for watching!
wish the pump was built into the unit so we could just use a hose fitting to connect it to a water tank
Yes agree, if they could squeeze one it it would make a great product even better!
Hey man this is looking great. Are you able to link me up with the Skylight supplier?
Hey mate I didn’t see where you used the nuts with the wire on them? Where abouts did you use them?
Great tips, guys! I just ordered a 23Zero from a company here in the states. I can’t wait to start camping with it!
Excellent! 23 Zero make some good gear.
Very nice sir
Thank you very much!
This isn't a camper, it's a caravan.
Its a caravan for ants haha (Zoolander reference)
Bloomin Marvellous
Thank you!
Wow looks really flash, your too hard on yourself, sweet
Yeah, hard to critique your own work, always the toughest of judges
Cool Ep and lovely set up so far
🙏 thank you
geez mate, bit tough on yourself, the finish looks bloody good. Using that old sign was a cool idea, looks top shelf. Enjoying this little series ✌🏻
Thank you, wait till you see it next, got rego now and going out on maiden voyage next weekend but shh don't tell anyone haha
Bewdy .
😀
Thanks for that tip ace.
Looks so good, well done
Thanks, it tasted real good too 😀
mate, you need a warning on these to not watch when lunch is still a couple of hours away....good stuff
Haha yeah it's a bit like that, thanks
I love the idea of having a slice of garlic in each piece of the meat. Looks delicious. Nice to hear the birds in the background 🐦 and see the dog by your side.
It came up really good, and you could taste the garlic through it. Defs gonna do that again.
These bad boys go alright considering the price. The best way to get the most is having a decent mppt regulator. Myself I use the Victron 20amp. These solar panels can pull around 15amps in good sunlight which is perfect for a 120ah lithium
Agree! Victron is the best in my opinion. The regulator is the most important part. I've seen some good numbers out of mine, very pleased.
Nice one
Thank you!
great stuff, enjoying this little series guys. Looking good to, like the timber on the kitchen ✌🏻
Yeah it's come up good, been a learning curve for sure 👍
Step by step, coming along great. Well Done.
Yeah getting there. Thank you!
And I'm in 2wd because 4x4 isn't needed on the beach
Yep, ok, no worries. Do you only drive to the carpark, or just limiter bash the whole way?
I don't air down my tires. I just keep them on 40 psi
No worries, you can do that if you like 👍
Great job mate! Have you thought about swinging your rear door upwards like a canopy door? It would give you more shade.
You'll have to wait for the next episode 🤫😁
Hey mate Great job!! Have you thought about positive ventilation fan to keep the dust out??
Thanks! Haven't got that far yet but something to consider.
Nice cosy space for the fam 🌟
Nah the kids can have the swags aha
Great series, looking forward to the next
Thanks for watching, new episode out this weekend.
I’m liking it buddy, looks great
Next update episode will be out this weekend.
Coming along nicely Gaz! 👌
Yeah it's pretty schmick!
wow same as Kakadu’s
It sure is, exactly the same. Same company. Companion in Australia and Kakadu in North America. thanks for watching!
Why is the Kakadu $499 and the Companion $399? Conversion rate is 1.5:1 USD to Australian $
Yeah not sure, possibly freight from Australia to US (or China US), maybe even a lack of direct competition as there are no similar products, currency exchange fees, not too sure. You could contact them direct and see what they say, might offer you a discount.
How did you secure the base to the trailer frame?
Glue and screwed from underneath with some extra fixings on the inside which Gaz will cover off in an upcoming episode. Thanks for watching!
most expensive meat pie youll ever have
And the most tasty, when your stuck in the bush on a cold winters night! Thanks for watching!
What size mppt regulator do you recommend?
Hi, it really depends on brand of MPPT. Some MPPTs can take a higher wattage than others. For this size panel (250w) I would go at least a 15A but a 20A would be better for 12v. If you divide the wattage of the panel by the charge rate of the battery that will give you an idea of the size for a regulator. E.G. 250w/14.7v = 17A, less losses of about 10-20% a 15A will be bang on the money. We use Victron SmartSolar MPPTs as they can take a higher wattage. Just remember that power clipped is power wasted so even if a 10A reg can take 250W it will clip the panel output down to 10A and the rest is wasted. In this scenario if there is only a few bucks difference between the 15A and a 20A go the 20A. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
Guys can you do a map of your trip please id love to go
Yes, we can look at doing a trip map, I'll post it to our Facebook. Give me a bit of time as I've got a bit on at the moment. Thanks for watching!
You've probably done a video on this already, but I am looking at the getting the Anaconda special Dune 4WD King Titan Double Swag and was wondering what you blokes thought of it?
Mines been brilliant, I've used it on at least 15 different trips now, no issues but I did put a hole in it with the cross bar where I missed the eyelet on one end. The sides do sag in a fair bit which is fine if one person is in there but with 2 you'd want to look at the middle bar mod aka pool noodle or pvc pipe. The mattress is pretty thin, I actually run a self inflating air mattress over the top if camping in it for more than one night. We might have to do a 2yr review on it and some of the other swags we have. I just bought a new Oztrail and the thing is so much better but it was about 3 times as expensive, and much bigger and heavier. Thanks for watching!
Nice work, you built a camper kit.
Thanks 👍
change the wiring and plug
I'll change it to a genuine Anderson Plug, only because I have some, but I'll leave the wiring as it is. I could solder in some thicker wire or proper PV twin but I don't think it will be a huge benefit. Thanks for watching!
It’s coming along nicely ❤
Wait till you see it with some sheets on! Thanks for watching!
Nice work Gaz!
Thank you!
How’s the shower going mate a year later.
Haven't had a chance to use it for a while but it was still cranking a few months back. We'll have to do a camp episode and crank it up again for a follow up. Thanks for watching!
I have been looking at these panels, how well do they work and what sort of numbers are you getting from them? I currently run the 10year old 80w panels that came with our camper and through the viltron mppt I'm getting 80w consistently but I'm looking for a little more power
I can't fault their performance. I've used them a few times camping now and each time they are performing at peak output. I did a video recording the output but I've lost the footage, I will do an update on them probably in the next few months. As predicted the bag has faded and started to get some rips but the panels themselves are great. Thanks for watching!
Looking good. I’m prepping for a similar build. Can you tell me anything more about the black trim? Mostly curious about how it joins two pieces of sheeting? Is it like a T or a U shape?
Thank you. Gaz covers off the trim in either the next update video (9th June) or the one after. Gaz used a combination of angle and a T section. Thanks for watching!
I thought I was watching an amateur, but you gave it away when you said "gave it the shake test and that's not going anywhere"....admit it you're actually a pro! Your average guy doesn't have that sort of expensive equipment :)
It's all true haha, thanks for watching!
Seasoning swag =swag in bath fill leave two days empty bath turn swag over leave turn swag leave most water will be gone remove to outside hang over a line to air dry same for tents- hoo roo
That's certainly one way to do it. Thanks for watching!
Hi, thanks for the video video. How do I get one of these if I live in United States?
G'day, thanks for watching! I have a feeling they are available for purchase in the US. I have sent them an email and will update if I get a reply.
Thank you I appreciate that🙏
Hi, they are under a different name in the States, Kakadu here: www.kakaduusa.com/
Thank you
good stuff, that black trim on the timber paneling come up a treat. Lots of work but good fun too I'd reckon. Bring on ep 4 ✌🏻
It's coming along nicely. It's going to be a cool little camper! Thanks for dropping by, congrats on hitting 1000 subs a little while back too, not sure if I commended previously. Loving your content!
Awesome
Thank you!
Looking good ❤
Thank you 😊
Looking impressive 😁
Thanks 😁
I have the same kings double swag, I've cut a pool noodle in half and put half each side of the mattress in between the zip and mattress. Originally I did this to push the zip out as water was collecting in the sag and soaking the mattress when it rained.. bonus was that it opened up the space inside from the sag. Great idea with the water pipe arch. Cheers for the video ✌🏼
No worries, thanks for watching!
