FAQ: - What class are you taking?: I don't want to drop the full exact name, but I attend a 3 hour long CTE class alongside my highschool courses. Though it may sound long, you fly through it so fast if you work the whole period. I am happy to attend everyday to see my friends from other schools and the work stations are very clean and top-tier using desktop computers and large drawing tablets (not screens). If your school happens to partner with a CTE school, I recommend joining as there are many other subjects than animation some may be interested in like cooking, fashion, construction, medical, and more. I also gain college credits by attending and it is a very good look on your resume. - What programs were used?: These were all created using Adobe products. More specially Adobe Animate and Photoshop (though at home, I mainly use CSP for drawing). - Can I use the video for reference?: Yes, feel free to use my video for practice (ex. recreating the ball bounce movement, studying the run cycle). But please do not repost or trace my animations. If you need further help, I recommend getting started by learning some of the principles of animation (ex. exaggeration, spacing) and referencing real life movement (ex. how does a baseball pitcher throw? how does a mermaid swim?) - Do you need experience before joining the class?: No, I went in with having very little animation experience and mid art skills, but still came out with a 99% (I had 1 point off 1 assignment 😭) since my teacher grades based on effort, not style. Though you learn along the way and I really feel like I've improved greatly. 💪💪 Alongside the animation assignments, my teacher assigned more traditional drawing assignments and it helped everyone improve their style in some way and anatomy too. Eventually I went on to learn on my own and improve even more. Anyways, you don't need experience, but I recommend having some level of experience to make things easier Notes / Comments: - Please do not attack my friend or anyone else in the comments for complimenting my "talent." I am aware of the difference between talent and skill and it really did take a lot of time and patience for me to grow my skills to this point. But please understand that some are not aware of the difference yet so just let them know kindly, thank you. - I am also very grateful for how supportive the comments have been, I love seeing people enjoying what I create :) - I do hope to improve enough to join the industry and hopefully become a part of a huge project. Question: Do you need to know how to draw before starting an animation class? Because I definitely can't but I'm thinking of taking a class but I don't want to do that if it ends up being a waste because I can't draw.
