Overhauled my workboats Perkins engine a couple of years ago. This time it was the clutches turn to get serviced. New bearings, clutchplates, piston rings etc.. The boat is a Finnish made KS1030(Keihässalmi),weighs about 5 tons. Also seen is one monday mornings boat ride going to work in fresh winds. Enjoy!

I have a few Kuvasz dogs and I installed these cameras here and there to keep up with their doings. Last night one of the cameras captured this clip. Engine was in a sailboat, low hours , under 1000h. The boat went to scrapyard and the engine has been sitting on a shelf for the last 5 years. Engine and transmission oil changed, new anti-freeze in the fresh water circulation. Test run 10.1.2023 was fine with no problems whatsoever. Transmission KBW10, 1:2,83, also in good condition. i have a perkins 200hp turbo and the oil line busted and the engine shut down at sea, I fix the oil line and changed the oil and filter. the engine is running but now I hear a knocking sound, do you think I need to rebuild it
Maybe move out of your garden shed to a place with actual lights so we can see what the hell is going on. And ALL threads need prep, either grease or Loctite.

Specifically, the part about the larger seal not being ment to slide in too far is completely missing from every other guide I've seen and I've been trying to solve this for months. You are a hero!

Thanks. Lip seals usually come from local shops, sometimes from UK if I have ordered bearings or some other parts to these projects.

Hello, these are TC seals. Right sizes are 8x22x7 TC (NBR) and 8x18x7 TC (NBR). Don't have to be nitrile, but I recommend it.
My friend, I have been having troubles with my fuel bleeding system after the tank ran dry and I remembered last time there was ONE video which helped me fix everything and it was yours. Took a while to find again but it works again, so thank you VERY MUCH!!!

Hi there. Was there a specific kit you worked off to do the rebuild?
Hi, no specific kit used. I ordered all the parts I needed from UK. There was some special tools for the job but they are virtually impossible to find so I had to make them in my workshop. The service manual is a must of course. It gives you the wear limits and other instructions, part numbers etc. Good reliable engine, definitely worth overhauling.
