I keep my male around 70-72°F, at night he can drop to 68°F. anything over 80°F can cause serious issues with these little fellows

Hands down the pinstripes are my favorite morph of the ball python! I wish I could get one in the future. It’s just the morphs can get kinda expensive.

They’re beautiful. I’m interested in owning one myself. Currently brushing up on their needs. Doesn’t seem terribly different from a crested gecko’s requirements other than live insect for food.

Cave geckos just need a longer tank rather than tall, they do like to climb up branches etc and eat bugs. They dont require much heating as most room temps will be about right. Easy to care for but not overly good at being handled, i can pick them up but there not as placid as a leopard gecko for instance.

I have a Chinese cave gecko in a 25 gallon glass tank. I just bought a 20 gallon plastic tub will a heating pad on the tub potentially melt or cause issues? Lmk ASAP please

    • @nathansreptiles8496

No i use a heat mat with plastic tubs, just make sure you use a thermostat to regulate the heat correctly

Nathan's Reptiles thanks for the quick response. What temp do u not want it to get over? The care sheets have changed since I got him at expo 15 yrs ago. What is too cold? What is too hot?

@@scotteckstein2867 i dont even heat mine to be fair as the room they are kept in has so many other reptiles it holds a good temp. Max temp of around 80-85f min around 60s i try make sure its around 75-80 during the day

@@scotteckstein2867 as a species they like it cooler so thats why i dont heat mine, they are part of a rack that has other heated reptiles on so keeps temp well. They are growing fast to! Ill try make videos this year and care guides

Nathan's Reptiles appreciate the help! I was thinking of maybe using the heating pad during cold days in the winter to be safe and unplugging it in the summer when it’s warmer. It’s in the high 40s low 50s at night now and I crack the window just for air flow. I have noticed over the years he’s barely ever under the cave where the heating pad is unless it is cold
