    The first sub 6 footer to make a real Mark in professional basketball. He opened the doors for many others. Like Tiny, Isiah, Stockton, A I to name a few. And yes I know the others are listed at 6 ft to 6'1. But my point is he opened the door for the little man.

      @BBallLore nice. Its a shame that more people don't know or share his story and accomplishments. His story has all the stuff the public likes. We have seen players who actually were involved in point shaving get a documentary on their life. But a player who was innocent, black listed, lost years of his prime just to win in court and still be a great player. Doesn't get covered or even remembered anymore? Thanks for looking into the hawk.

    Isaiah 45:5 I am the LORD, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God. I will strengthen you, though you have not acknowledged me, Isaiah 44:6 6 God, King of Israel, your Redeemer, God-of-the-Angel-Armies, says: "I'm first, I'm last, and everything in between. I'm the only God there is. Exodus 3:14 And God (Jesus) said to Moses, 'I AM WHO I AM'; and He said, 'This is what you shall say to the sons of Israel: 'I AM has sent me to you. John 5:46-47 Jesus(God) said For if you believed Moses, you would believe me; for he wrote of me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words?”. John 8:24 Jesus(God) said Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I AM, you will die in your sins.” John 14: 6-7 Jesus (God) said to him, “I AM the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you know me, then you will also know my Father. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”. John 8:58 Jesus(God) answered, “I tell you the truth, before Abraham was even born, I AM!” Matthew 24:35 Jesus (God) says “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.” 2 Corinthians 4:4 satan, who currently rules this evil world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is God. Revelation 21:8 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts,( the idolaters ) and all liars-they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

      In the 70s through mid 80s it was post game, mid 80s to early 2000s was a mix of post and perimeter (Mainly mid-range), now its 3s. Maybe you don't enjoy it but that's ok. Some might say watching a 7 footer back down the whole game is horrible to watch. Doesn't mean it's ruined, just evolved.

      @BasketballHistorian understand this, the modern day athlete for the past 40+ years has had it good, maybe the 1980s athletes had it slightly tougher and harder, but still good & as we move forward the leagues will always be out looking for the next big thing or big things to move it up in revenue and viewership and that what is more important to modern day basketball players, sponsorship and ads and making podcast while making making that the past players wish they were making and technology and medicines that they wish they had and more comfortable shoes to wear and lighter sneakers to making them jump higher and more hours to practice instead of dealing with other things outside of the sport. The modern day athlete makes alot of money, as a bench warmer you can make more money any top star did back in the 1970s ever could any player in the 80s ever could, we starting to have nanotechnology, we have chambers we can enter to & we can make 2 million of even 30 million to shoot a basketball from 3 or just be tall. Tacko fall wasn't good and didn't dominate, but he sure got his dollars, jimmer did and so did michael kidd.

    It's kind of sad that the old NBA establishment did EVERYTHING to shun the ABA. Yeah, I know, the ABA made salaries go up, but the ABA was full of superstars most of the country didnt see. I only remember Louie Dampier when he played for the Spurs after the merger. He retired the year before the NBA added the 3pt line(the 3pointer started in the NBA in the 79-80 season.)

    • @BBallLore
      @BBallLore 3 месяца назад

      My best guess is that (assuming he has the same impact) there would’ve been at least one year where they win it all. Maybe 2, but not back to back.

    • @elwin38
      @elwin38 3 месяца назад

      Ironically, it would've been in 1975! The same year Kentucky won the ABA title, the Chicago Bulls lost in the Western conf. finals to eventual NBA champion Golden St Warriors in 7 games(the Bulls were up 3-2 in that series). If Artis was a Bull from the start, they would've been the 75 NBA champs. They would have easily beaten the Washington Bullets(East champs in 75).🏀🏀

    I grew up watching Artis Gilmore in the ABA with the Colonels. He was the best center in the game -- either league -- during 1974 through '76. Better than Kareem. Better than Dave Cowens. Better than Willis Reed. In the ABA title game against the Indiana Pacers and George McGinnis, Artis scored 28 points and grabbed 31 rebounds. That's not a typo -- THIRTY.... ONE...REBOUNDS. An unstoppable force. Best post season performance by a center ever. Decades later, I became a feature writer for a newspaper and interviewed Artis in the 1990s as he visited with children at the elementary school where his own children had attended. Absolutely nicest, most enjoyable person I ever interviewed. The children loved Artis (even though they were 5 and 6 and had never heard of him) and he loved them back. Artis was a great family man and had a gentle temperament that no one who watched him own the boards would have figured. :)
