How you get in
That plywood wall was put up before I left NYC in 2012. The MTA takes 20 years to do simple repairs. Pathetic.
How can i get there ?
Which line is that on the other side?
5 train
Barricades went up in 2001 as part of the 8 escalators at Bowling Green rehab project. Old existing escalator was demo'd out on this platform. Hatch leading down is to the escalator motor pit. MTA never had the contractor remove all the temp barricades for some reason.
Another trespasser who when he gets hurt will sue the city
Funny thing about the Bowling Green shuttle platform. It was renovated with the glazed orange/red tiles you see here in 1978 - a year AFTER service ended. When the side platform opened that year, the entire station was renovated using that glazed tile and since the shuttle platform work was already paid for, it was renovated along with the rest of the station.
Interesting. How many abandoned subway stations are there in NYC? In a weird way I wished LA Metro was old and big enough to have abandoned stations.😊
Ok but how did you get inside?
The title is a slight misnomer. Only the former shuttle track and platform are abandoned. The main platform serves 4 and 5 trains daily
Thanks, I couldn't understand why such a popular station wouldn't be used. I used it in NY 1968-1971
If that traffic signal was still working does that mean the third rail still is too???
yes, for layup
@@lopwr1212 OK. Will the NYC subway ever stop at this station again anytime soon???
@@graphtonix6607 nope
@@lopwr1212 😢😢😢😢😢
What line is this on?? The only Myrtle Ave stations are above ground, unless it's the L line.
WORST abandoned station video I've ever seen - 100% shakycam and no video whatsoever of the station remnants (signage, tilework, etc.) - although it was interesting to see the art as one continuous piece that turns into animation if you're in a passing train
NotClosed.people.rarely.use.it.as.you.used.it.hence.open.to.the.public.😊😂❤
I saw a couple of my graffiti tags up in there..looks fire and I love it
0:50 those people lowkey scared me, a shining hallway moment😂
I thought they used this platform for filming movies and TV shows. Whyt is it so decrepit?
They haven't used it for filming in years. The 7 extension goes right threw it, so they don't have a reason to keep it nice looking.
Whoa! Didn't know Bowling Green was closed. Used that station many many years ago.
Its not closed, this is a platform used for the South Ferry Shuttle which ran a long time ago, you can hear 4 and 5 trains at the current Bowling Green in the background
@@agentrgwx8529 Ah, ok so the station is still active. I though those where trains just bypassing the station because it was closed. I know there are a couple other old station/platforms in Manhattan where that happens.
@@DocMicrowaveYep a good of example of that is Worth Street which is also on the 4 and 5
@@agentrgwx8529 Yeah, I use to see the old platform through the window as the train passed by. I think there might have been another old platform in teens or 20s street.
how do folks get to the ferry now?@@agentrgwx8529
So sorry to see and learn that it has been abandoned; it was a beautiful station! What will become of it?😞
It was served by a shuttle that went from Bowling Green to the South Ferry Loop on the 1. If I am correct it didn’t transfer to the 1 but was just across from it, like many local stations in the system. The service was discontinued I believe late 60s and the South Ferry Loop is no longer in service, so it’ll just continue to sit there abandoned
Only this platform of Bowling Green is abandoned and has been since the 70s. The main two tracks on bowling green continue to serve 4 and 5 trains daily
This was one of those abandoned subway stations, but needs a lot of overhaul to get this platform restored and get rid of those graffiti junk.
nah its looks fye
And South Ferry
What you call junk isn't!!
MTA should be fired .
Why do you think that big guy?
Neat!! Last time I saw this was when it was open and I road the Shuttle to South Ferry Inner Loop station a bunch of times.
OMG!! I'm so jealous 😍😍😍
Hi thks for this is there any way you can tell us where this is on 42nd St also i know where where the original connection is for the Times Square line in1904 then under 42nd St its the shuttle line between Times Square and Grand Central but where is the tracks that connect with the Park Ave South Line Thanks again
Now this is something you don’t see everyday
I know, right?
Pink 4 and Black 5 train! Nice video
That makes the station super old
Lol, yeah, so old, why pink and black😂😂😂
@@Chinese-kkkkkkthat’s how it used to be
my boi backkkkk
hell yuh
Great video 💯👍🏾
Thanks 💯
They could remake that station for the T train in the future
That’s not going to happen, a portion of the station was destroyed because of the 7 line expansion
@@RascalTrainz* demolished
The stairs were there up until the mid 90s I believe. I’m not sure exactly when the station’s lower level is closed but I do remember the stairs still being there and they just put chains over them. And then they actually close the stairs up somewhere around the mid 90s late 90s early 2000s I think.
Awesome
Be careful.. there are monsters living inside those tunnels.
The last time i saw this part of The A C & E TRAIN LOWER LEVEL was the early 1970's . Coincidence i was just there prior to the Thanksgiving holiday not realizing what once was & is still there, amazing.
thats sick howd u get there?
Fantastic Video 📸 and Thanks for Sharing the Video
Glad you enjoyed it
it was called the Myrtle/Gold street platform station & it was shut down in 1958
July 15, 1956, to be exact.
That explains the decline of the myrtle ave line
The Myrtle ave elevated had a gold Street station and it closed in the 60s
i still have my graffiti marker tags there yet ya should've went there a yesr ago before they covered all these walls up with wooden rooms lol
just subscribed and followed ur insta acc. when the links LMAO 😭

Does it smell bad over there
IND 8th Avenue line 42 Street lower level station (A)(C)(E)
It’s blocked off since the 7 train
2:31 GODLY E
is this Grand Central? I stip by her all the time and never seen this area
It’s at Times Square on the 8th Ave A Line.
What train ran through here? What was it for?
The A,C and E trains
@@bonusyt6413 Actually only rush hour E trains used it as well as the Aqueduct Special trains. It did not have any track connection to the A and C trains.
Rush hour E trains but the platform hasn’t been used since 1981 and it’s unclear as to why it was built in the first place
@@E-man5375 I did some research on it. Apparently it was built more as a block to prevent the IRT from building the current 7 train west. When they were building the Hudson Yards extension, they had to punch a hole in this platform for the 7 train tunnel
BRUTAL camera work, too helter skelter, slow down! Looks like a graffiti art gallery!
