    New version (or 'T' version) of this sander has a bolt to tighten the belt without the need to pry.

    superglue the screws and epoxy the area to help hold it tight a while.

    All You Tube video makers ought to watch this video to learn how to make a video that cuts to the chase without a bunch of bull. Short and sweet, gets right to the point. Thanks. I am curious. Does it help to add lubrication? If so, where?

    • @everlitesv
      @everlitesv 2 года назад

      Thanks for the compliment. Mine was fairly well lubricated with some type of grease in the problem area. Most of the remaining noise came from the big roller that the belt rides on at the other end. It was quiet enough for my purposes. A lubricant that isn't prone to thickening up when it captures fine dust would be necessary. Maybe some dri-slide?

    Why did you not center the belt cover housing ?

    • @everlitesv
      @everlitesv 3 года назад

      Good catch. I hadn't really noticed that until you pointed it out. There could be limitations due to the screw placements but, most likely it had enough clearance to work and I did not think past that and left it un-centered.

    • @georgecurtis6463

      @@everlitesv yea, not a big deal but stuff like that tends to bother me. I saw as you were doing it that the screw for letting the belt body be moved upright was tight. Maybe later, when you want to bother with it, make sure that screw is loose before trying to adjust the housing. I just bought a ne hf bauer sander and I was happily surprised that I found very little wrong with it. As I read the instructions, I do this with everything I get, I noticed it had a knob to help adjust the belt so no prying needed. Good luck.

    It is not a guard for the lathe. It is a guard for when you use a small circular blade in the drill chuck. Makes a weird mini table saw.

    I personally would fill the blue pocketed areas with resin, colored with the same blue acrylic paint. That would hide the imperfections in the wood there, as well as give the signs a much more premium look. I do this on most of my sign projects, and it works great.

    A nice alternative to the 2 sided tape is placing painters tape on your work piece, and in matching places on your waste board. Apply some CA glue to the tape on your waste board, and spray activator on the tape on your work piece. Painters tape, even 2 layers is thinner than the tape you used here, which gives your work piece less of a cushion to move around on.

    • @solderandsawdust
      @solderandsawdust 4 года назад

      I agree. Nice tip. Most of the two sided tape has a wiggle factor. I'm now mostly using mechanical fastening. I purchased the ca glue and accelerator to try that method a while back but haven't used it yet. Thanks.

    Thanks for the video, I am trying to decide which cnc to get how do you like the carve king? What program do you use and what was the run time on your sign

    • @solderandsawdust
      @solderandsawdust 5 лет назад

      I really like it. It would be nice to have the space for something a tad larger sometimes though. I have a friend with a sign shop and I have access to their copy of Vectric Aspire. But that 2d cut could be made in most cnc software. That sign took about 2.5-3 hours runtime. I've learned how to optimize toolpaths a tad more now and could probably get it down to 2 or less.

    I see you are using a piece of paper to home your Z to the workpiece most of the time. I've seen others move Z close to the workpiece and then just loosen the collet, drop the bit down and re-fasten it instead. That might be a faster way to get it right?

    • @solderandsawdust
      @solderandsawdust 5 лет назад

      Yes, It's something I'll try with my next projects. Eventually I'll install a touch probe.

    • @solderandsawdust
      @solderandsawdust 5 лет назад

      I tried this method and it doesn't work reliably. There is something about the Dewalt collet that on about the last turn to tighten the bit, it draws up into the router about 0.5 mm or so.

      This happens with most collets, even on the industrial machines I work on at work. The tool draws into the collet ever so slightly. Probe or piece of paper is a common practice in the industry.
