This walk begins opposite the Woolloomooloo Naval base , it then goes around to enter the Botanical Gardens through the eastern entrance on the harbour then skims around harbour edge of the Botanical Gardens before exiting out the western exit/entrance beside the Sydney Opera House , then continues around to Circular Quay past the ferry wharfs and finishes by the Sydney Museum of Modern Art near the Cruise Ship Terminal.

Hello Billy, the Botanical Gardens and I go way back, I remember President Clinton planting that tree, I walked past it about 3 weeks after he had planted it. To look at it now 28 years later it stands majestically there. All those beautiful trees in that garden must be prime real estate for the birds. I can't remember the trees being fenced off back in the 90's. I'm glad they've done it now though it protects them a bit. The views from there are absolutely great walking along the harbour. Of course the Opera House speaks for itself, however I remember the controversy they had when they were building the "toaster building" some people thought it may have been too close to the Opera House but they sorted it out. I used to love walking along there I done it countless times. I was never a jogger though I walked everywhere. Still great to see people enjoying the area all these years later. I noticed you looking across the harbour at all those apartments on the other side. Thats the area I was writing about in your Luna Park walk. I don't know if thats classed as Milsons Point or a different suburb altogether. I was wandering if you would do a video on that area, I've never been over that side but it looks a temptation from this side. Its been a long time since I've been to the Gardens, I think maybe 15 years. I used to take Piperlouise to the parts that she was allowed to go. I think the rule of no dogs in the garden still applies. So thank you for your time walking through this great area, I still love it. Cheers till the next one.

That’s so interesting what you say about that Clinton tree , it’s always cool to be able to put a time to something like a plant and see how it has grown over the years. I try to go through the garden at least once a month , my favourite areas being the palm area and the cactus area - love chilling by the ponds as well. Milsons point is only on the left of the bridge if you are looking north , the right side is Kirribilli , I have done a walk around there you could watch if you haven’t already , goes past government house and the kings spot next door where he just stayed. I intend to film around Mosman sometime soon which is further to the right of Kirribilli closer to Taronga Zoo. Cheers Craig Stay well 🙂

I think the shopping strip Is more or less a night time place for eating out or picking up meals as the main road is to busy and wide to be a place for shopping etc. There was some places open but many were only night time hours of operating. Beverly Hills is a Neighbourhood / Suburb in southern Sydney , located 15 kilometres from the Sydney Central Business District and is part of the St George’s area and is split between the local government areas of the Georges river council and the city of Canterbury - Bankstown. Beverly Hills was originally known as Dumbleton after a local farm in the area, this name was generally disliked by locals who lobbied for its name to be changed to something more glamorous to coincide with the arrival of the east hills railway line in 1931. The name was changed at the time when Beverly Hills in California was becoming known for being home to movie stars. Real estate developments followed in the 1930s and 1940s.

Cleveland Street is a long and busy street just south of the Sydney Central Business District. On the north side are the neighbourhoods of Surry hills and Chippendale, the south side is the borders of the suburbs of Redfern and Darlington. This walk starts east and goes west mostly past Redfern but also a small part of Darlington with a few detours and ends by City road that takes you left to Newtown and neighbouring areas and and further to Southern Sydney and turn right to Glebe , Broadway ,the CBD or Parramatta Road and Further out to Western Sydney.

Plenty of eateries and fresh fruit and veg stores . I have been thinking of going out to St Mary’s some time soon , the suburb is going to go through some big changes over the next few years that’s for sure with the western Sydney airport opening and business estates etc opening up they’re going to need plenty of new housing and infrastructure. I’m also a big fan of bird life and pigeons are one of my faves but they tend to get a bad name , I’ve rescued a few injured ones in my time along with parrots , native minors a crow and just a few weeks ago a bat. Hello Billy, Here you go Riverwood a suburb I've not visited, only gone past on the train. As you know I'll walk anywhere with you. Its great to see how the shops are laid out there, it reminds me a bit of St Mary's which I used to visit back in the late 20 teens as my niece lived there. (That could be a great walk for you as I here there've built a new train station there and I think you will like it. My niece doesn't live there anymore she moved to Young back in 2018. Anyway Riverwood looks like it would be a nice place for me to have a look around as like most suburbs the shops are built around the train station. The reason why I've not gone is because I've not known anyone who's lived in that area. This is why I like watching your videos as it helps me decide if there are any shops I'd like to see that's not anywhere else. Plus its Sydney and I want to see as many suburbs as I can cause I love the place so much. I also love Sydney's bird life especially the pigeons. I feed the ones in my area it gives me pleasure and those white cocky's looked like they were having fun eating away there. (They don't care that your watching). Its really sad for me that I can't walk around as much as I used to because of my medical condition. Its why I really enjoy your work. I also do a lot of European, British and American walking tours online as well, yours stands out more because you've done a lot of different suburbs which can only help our tourists. So thanks for all the hard work you do for this channel and I'll see you on the next one. Cheers for now.

Riverwood is a suburb/ neighbourhood in southern Sydney that is located 19 kilometres from the Sydney Central Business District and is part of the St George area. Riverwood is split between the local government areas of the Georges river council and the city of Canterbury - Bankstown. The area was originally known as Herne Bay after World War Two included a lot of public housing . It had gotten such a bad reputation as a place known for poverty , crime and violence that its name was changed to Riverwood in 1957 in hope to change the stigma attached to the area. Riverwood is a very multicultural suburb as well as Australian born people the 2021 census showed groups from mainland China , Phillipines, Lebanon, Vietnam, Hong Kong , African ,middle eastern , pacific countries and more. Riverwood is on the east hills railway line with Padstow to the west and Narwee to the east .

Hi Billy, Its 2001, I was living on the corner of Crown and Cleveland Sts, Surry Hills. when I was working at the Adult Shop on Oxford St. My shifts ran from 5pm to 1am and I remember I had just gotten a brand new Stereo television (back when they were the rage,) I remember finishing my shift on the Wed. morning 1am and I got home around about 20 past, depends how long it took me to walk down Crown St at that time. Anyway I got home and I turned on my new tv only to see the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Centre and because it was being broadcast as soon as it happened I was witness to see the 2nd plane fly into the North Tower. My God it was so devestating It made me cry. I'll always remember that about living there. I always used Crown St, I was a member of the Surry Hills Library up the road, it was brand new at the time and it still looks good today. Where you start this video, I lived above the Cygnal Smoke shop there, even though it was on Crown St, the entrance was on Cleveland St around the corner. Back then Blockbuster Video was were the Chemist is now and of course the Crown St Hotel has always been there. There used to be a mall diagonally across from me there where coles was. It got pulled down about 5 years ago, The new one should be finished about now I'm not sure as I haven't been there for about 2 years now. Crown Street though has always been one of my favourite streets from Cleveland all the way down to Wooloomooloo. Lots of vibrant people and its always busy. Cheers for now, see you on the next one. P.S. There are some Sydney Suburbs I haven't lived in or been too. Its just that you seem to be coincidently going to the ones that I have lived or frequented. Probably why I like watching your walks so much. Cheers again.

Great story telling / recollections Craig , I think most people on our side of the world were in bed and didn’t see 9/11 happen till it was replayed the next day - I saw it about six in the morning while I was having a coffee before heading off to work , took a while to realise that is wasn’t being broadcast live - was definitely an incredible moment. The new mall on Cleveland st also includes a lot of apartments now. I’ll be sticking up a Cleveland street walk soon going from east to west. I agree that the library still looks good today and isn’t it funny how shops like video stores that were once such a big part of peoples lives no longer exist. You’ve definitely lived in a lot of spots in Sydney - I think I’ve got some walks coming up that might be places you haven’t lived , worked or even visited - but wouldn’t bet on it 😀🙂 Thanks for sharing the information and memories. Crown street is a street that runs through Surry Hills , Darlinghurst and Woolloomooloo in inner city East Sydney . This walk starts at the southern end of Surry Hills Next to Cleveland Street that borders Redfern and then goes down to Oxford Street in Darlinghurst and then back. Crown Street goes further through Darlinghurst and into Woolloomooloo but that isn’t included in this walk. Electric Trams used to run down Crown Street into the late 1950s. The now closed Crown Street Woman’s hospital was once the largest Maternity Hospital in Sydney - it opened in 1893 and was closed in 1983. The site has now been redeveloped as housing and mixed commercial use. Crown street also includes the crown street public school and the Surry hills library and community centre.

Hi , thank you - there definitely is some amazing old buildings and homes in Summer hill , great place for looking at old architecture. I hear what you’re saying about the graffiti - personally without going into to much detail I think for me there is good stuff in the right places and bad stuff in the wrong places, as far as filming it goes I try to film all aspects of every area I go to and graffiti is one thing that shows changes - for example the graffiti in this video probably won’t be here next time I video summer hill as some of the shops that have been empty for a long time are now being done up - so it will be cool to see how it has changed next time I walk there. A lot of the graffiti that is done on the more public spots is just tagging and throw ups as it’s done fast for obvious reasons but there is graffiti done in areas that businesses and home owners alike agree to such as in certain laneways in Newtown, Marrickville, Enmore, St Peter’s ,Sydenham Camperdown and others as well as home owners that commission graffiti artist to do side walls. These pieces can be amazing because they have the time to do something creative. But yes - there is also loads of garbage out there done on places that shouldn’t be touched ( I could go on about that but best to leave it). Any way I appreciate the feed back. Stay well and thanks for watching🙂

@@billyeyeball7725 Hi Billy, thanks for your reply! I don't mind the murals at all. Some of them are awesome. I make a distinction between the murals and graffiti, tags, vandalism etc. We are slowly making our way through your videos. The inner west particularly interests us as we are originally 'westies' from Arthur Street, Strathfield (subsequently called Strathfield West, then a brief stint as Homebush, and lastly reverting back to Strathfield!). Life revolved around the shopping strips along Rochester Street and opposite Homebush Station. We're living up the mid north coast now. I watch on our big TV with my very elderly parents so they can see all the old haunts; Burwood, Homebush, Flemington, Croydon, Ashfield, Summer Hill and Haberfield. Love all the old shop facades and homes. Did you know that the Flemington Markets are on the site of the old Homebush Saleyards? As a child I'd watch the trains arrive and see the cattle offloaded into the yards. Thanks again for your videos! Cheers, Steve

Hi Billy, Summer Hill is another place I use to frequent because of its great shopping strip and also it was in between Ashfield and Petersham where I used to live. Notice that Summer Hill still has all its great architecture, there's not many new buildings or high rises there. Still it's been over 20 years since I visited the area. Nice to see a lot of people go there still. The train station still hasn't been updated. I find it amusing how one side of the train station all the shops are busy, and the other side is quite sleepy, it was like that 20 years ago as well. Summer Hill is A Suburb/ Neighbourhood in the inner west of Sydney about 7kms from the Sydney Central Business District, in the local government area of the inner west council. The first land grant was made to former convict Henry Kable in 1794 . The suburb began to grow following the opening of the train station on the main suburban railway line in 1879. By the 1920s the suburb had become relatively upper class with large estates and mansions built throughout the suburb of which a few still remain. Following a transition to a working class neighbourhood in the mid 20th century when most of the wealthy moved to the north shore many of the mansions and estates were demolished and subdivided making way for apartment blocks . The original people of the area were of the Wangal and Cadigal Nations. Over the past few years Summer hill has gone through a bit of an upgrade around the shopping village including pathing and street scraping as well as upgrades to the park and skate park. I have done other Summer Hill videos that show more parts of the neighbourhood , you can find them on my inner west playlist.

Hello Billy, You've done it again, I lived in Ashfield from November 1998 till August 1999. Just before finally moving to Darlinghurst in the city. I actually lived on Norton St and you went through the park I used to frequent quite often on a summer afternoon playing my music. That park with the seating in the centre was where I'd sit, its great to see it hasn't changed much in 25 years. Ashfield Mall looks exactly the same only cleaner now. Plus another suburb with new high rises. They've taken out a lot of car parks for them especially around the Ashfield Station. I too used to walk all around the area at the time. I lived about three quarters down Norton St, so I thought I was actually closer to Canterbury Station then Ashfield. Its a great suburb. Very busy though. Still thanks for the memories again. Cheers for Now.

@@craigbrown9029 Craig it seem as if you have either lived or worked in half of the places I walk hahaha - it’s always good to hear from first hand knowledge how areas have or haven’t changed over the years. That park is a cool little spot to chill - I can see why you went there . Lots of apartments going up around Ashfield and plenty more to come by the looks of it . Thanks again. Stay well🙂🙂

This walk is from the Neighbourhood of Ashfield to the neighbouring suburb of Summer Hill - both of which are in the Inner West of Sydney with Summer Hill being the closer of the two Towards the Sydney CBD. Ashfield is about 8 kms from the CBD . Ashfield is a very multi cultural neighbourhood with one of the larger groups being Shanghainese - Chinese . Before the arrival of the British the area was inhabited by the Wangal People of the Eora Nation. The first land grant of the area was made to Rev Richard Johnson In 1793 and all of it had been granted by 1810. I will include more on Summer Hill in a video coming up soon. I have other videos on both places if you want to check them out on my Inner West Play List .

Hello Billy, I think I've actually walked through Haberfield myself, a very long time ago. Its nice to see how its progressed over the years. My favourite places are libraries, parks and bakeries. This one has all of them. Do you ever get tempted whilst your filming when you walk past a bakery like the one in this one just near the IGA, that had all those gorgeous pastries in the window to stop and have a coffee and a scroll of some sort. My thought is that even though Sydney has bakeries in just about every suburb, is that each one has something different and nice to offer. Thats usually what kept me and Piperlouise walking through different suburbs all the time was that I would get a coffee and a pastry from the bakery and go to the nearby park and share it with my Piperlousie. (she loved it, no matter what I bought she would try) Its such good memories. Your doing a great job, your camera work is clear and is just great to see Sydney in all its glory. Cheers for now.

@@craigbrown9029 hi Craig - I hear what your saying and I was definitely always big on trying local food places and bakeries were always a must - sadly over the past year and half I’ve been on a very very strict and limited diet due to medical reasons and all it takes is one wrong ingredient to make me very sick for days and sometimes weeks . Bakeries are a no no for sure. But damn I really get tempted by all the smells and sights hahaha. I live on cups of tea during the day ( can’t have coffee either anymore) . Haberfield has really good looking food spots. It’s an interesting suburb with a pretty interesting history. Thanks again Craig Stay well🙂🙂

@@billyeyeball7725 I hear you too, Billy. I too have had to succumb to dietary ingredients as I've gotten older already. I've developed diabetes over the last few years, so no more sweet stuff for me either. However I still like to try bakery pies and sausage rolls, only if they have been made on premises. I like to try original home baked pastries. The best ever sausage roll I had was at a place in Kingston, Canberra, back in the 90's. Never been able to find one as good since, doesn't stop me from trying though. Cheers for now and a I'll watch you on the next outing.

Apologies to those who already watched this a few hours before the original upload was taken down - it loaded up so glitchy it was like watching with a chronic eye twitch so I did a reupload . Haberfield is a suburb / neighbourhood in the inner west of Sydney. It is located 6.5 kms from the Sydney Central Business District in the local government area of the inner west council. Haberfield like the neighbouring suburb of Leichhardt has a large Italian community and it shows in the local businesses. Haberfield was named by the early land holder Richard Stanton , after the financial benefactor of his wife’s family ; lord Haberfield. The area which comprises Haberfield was part of the broader area in which lived people from the darug tribe known variously as the Wangals and cadigals from the Eora Nation.

Hi Craig - yep I’ve thought of doing A Milsons Point Walk but I would have to mix it in with lavender Bay neighbourhood as Milsons Point is so tiny it’s actually the 10th smallest suburb in all of Sydney - it’s border lines are just a slim stretch between the bridge and lavender bay up to north Sydney - there really isn’t many shops either as most people walk under the bridge to the Kirribilli Village Or up the road to the North Sydney CBD - but yes it’s a great idea so I will do a Milsons point / lavender Bay walk towards Waverton I think. Cheers for the suggestion as I’m always up for new ideas and spots to visit. 🙂🙂🙂

Hello Billy. gotta say I haven't been to Luna Park since I was 13, my god that was 45 years ago, Yet its still looks like one of the funnest places to be, everyone still leaves the place with a smile on there faces. It was just as fun back then in 1979. Such an Icon of Sydney's, I hope they keep it forever. Now I only go past it on the ferry. Still looks very inviting from the outside as well though. Its also great to see a lot of the classic rides are still there along with some new ones. It was that much fun when I went way back then, its great to see so many people still enjoying it as much today as we did back then. I still think about it a lot over the years those type of memories tend to stay with you a lot more than others. I think mainly it was because of the fun of it and believe me just like the slogan says it was just for the fun of it. Great walk today Billy. Cheers for now and see you on the next one.

Luna Park -Sydney - is a heritage listed amusement park located at 1 Olympic Drive , Milsons Point on the northern side of the Sydney harbour next to the Sydney Harbour bridge. Although it may not be huge with a large amount of rides like those on the Gold Coast it has kept much of its historical rides and features since its opening back on October the 4th 1935. You can get the ferry to Luna Park/ Milsons Point from Circular Quay or any other spot on the Circular Quay To Pyrmont Route or you can catch the north shore train line and get off at Milsons Point Train Station .

Hello Billy, The City, my most favourite suburb in all Sydney, over the past 25 years I would say I've done every street and park at some stage or another, I've walked up and down George, Pitt, Castlereagh and Elizabeth, along with all the little streets in between. Always something vibrant going on. A lot of changes over the past 20 years, a lot of new buildings now being completed its really starting to catch up with some of the other major cities of the world. What I need to do now is go check out all those new area's around Wynyard now that a lot of the new buildings around that area toward the harbour is now finished or almost finished. Makes you feel proud to live here. Cheers for now.

Will be interesting to see how the new development at the old darling harbour shopping centre turns out. Will also be interesting to see to see how the new Circular Quay ferry terminals and train station construction and upgrades turn out. Cheers again Craig . Stay well.
