Very nice - what a great challenge (i'm doing something similar - was doing it daily until October's many art prompts!) You suggested you were struggling with face shape - I'll tell you a few things that I do, for what it's worth. One simple way is to look at the head with no pencil in hand, just look. And I'll typically look at the entire silhouette (including hair - I know yours is short and won't greatly impact proportions) - no features... from there, I'll rough in the basic shape with only straight lines until i feel it's looking like the overall outline (this also helps composition on a page). from there, find the center line of the head and lightly mark that (divide head left and right, and top/bottom) And then mark the hair line. Just doing those simple things can help a lot and of course you can get more complex - noticing the proportional differences and spaces between elements) It's definitely an art that some people spend years and lifetimes studying! What I like about what you're doing is bring out feeling and motion and thats a very hard thing to teach... I think you are doing great work and you'll have fun exploring what works for you!

Such a cool project! I love these! These are good. I think people are extra hard on their own portraits since they know their face so well. (Having said that, I hated a self-portrait that I made the other day so much that I made a whole other art piece because I didn't want to "have" to share it.) I admire your discipline in taking this project on. 😃

What a great Master Study Hippo! 🍏🎩 In Portuguese we have saying "de se lhe tirar o chapéu" meaning something is very good (translated to letter is take off your hat, which is silly), and it applies here so well! 👏👏👏
