Turbo install in my Volvo 242 T5 swap (Engine Rebuild Part 3)
After finishing rebuilding the engine and installing accessories on intake side of the engine in the previous episode, it’s time to bolt up all of the exhaust side accessories-most notably a freshly rebuilt Garrett GTX3067R ball bearing turbocharger-before proceeding with the MaxxECU conversion and engine reinstall.

Laguna Green BMW E36: Wash, Tinker, and Drive on a quiet morning
Просмотров 913 месяца назад
Sunday morning is the perfect time to hit the backroads of Wisconsin in my 1992 BMW 325i (E36) finished in Laguna Green paint with BBS RC304 wheels, but first there are a couple things to tinker with. The driver side brake light has been intermittently broken and the TC Kline single adjustable coilovers need to be adjusted to the correct ride height. Then it's time to hit some b roads and enjoy...

    The VHT high heat header spray has proven to be massive bang for buck as well when it comes to coatings manifolds and turbine housings. I've done probably like 40 - 50 different manifolds with the VHT coating and holds up remarkably well.

    When welding a broken stud like. Place a copper washer over the hole and weld in spots the stud to build it up . Remove copper washer clean up the weld knob place nut over this knob and do a deep weld .

    Did you modify the pan and the pickup tube yourself? I really want to do this swap for my 240 but do not have the fabrication or skills for aluminum. nvrm paused the video prematurely. Great video cant wait to see more of the build.

    • @Drive.Revive.Tinker
      @Drive.Revive.Tinker Месяц назад

      Thank you! More coming soon. It’s a challenging swap to do without fabrication skills given how limited aftermarket support is. You can buy engine mounts now but there are lots of smaller items you need to figure out on your own (that’s almost the point of a swap like this versus something more common, though)

    • @WhtWagoonDesigns
      @WhtWagoonDesigns Месяц назад

      @@Drive.Revive.Tinker Totally agree, there is more information about the swap nowadays on the forums. I think a tad easier swap is the T6 since there will be some less fabrication work to be done. It won't sound as cool but, would prefer a Volvo engine swap than anything else.

    • @Drive.Revive.Tinker
      @Drive.Revive.Tinker Месяц назад

      Yeah, T6 definitely makes it a bit easier. There’s also a premade MaxxECU engine harness for the T6 that removes a rather complex step if you plan your build with that in mind

      Have another look DRT can not weld alloy either , but he he does cut and prep the weld area well for a skilled welder to complete . He does 80% of the welding process . The more you try someting the more you learn ..... a failure is a learning step . You may not have a work space this well designed . But am guessing DRT started many years ago in a dark borrowed space years ago .

      It seriously made my day when I saw that the intake *perfectly* fit in the ultrasonic cleaner. Turns out that the big ones aren't that much more expensive than the small ones, so it's really just about how much space you want to give up for it.
