Why Is it Important To Insulate Your Crawl Space?
Pretty cool to see, I had no idea that's how it was done.
Where are your masks and safety glasses. Im sure you know by now.
Where are the walls ? I mean real walls….
I did my attic with this insulation myself with my grandpa, probably 17 years ago. Bought the stuff and rented the machine at Lowe's. it's NOT difficult. All you need to do is be able to read the instructions. Wear a mask and gloves. It's mostly mulched newspaper.
Nice. How did the walls go? Easy?
Can't understand the american obsession with loose blown in and foam insulation when they could use rolls of rockwool and kingspan panels.
Spray Foam Insulation (Open and Closed Cell) Spray foam insulation is a premium choice for homeowners seeking superior energy efficiency. Whether open or closed-cell, spray foam creates an airtight seal that prevents drafts and reduces heat loss, significantly lowering your utility bills. By filling cracks and gaps, it provides an effective air barrier against the outside, maintaining a comfortable indoor temperature year-round. This high-performance insulation delivers the best long-term energy savings and comfort. Cellulose Insulation Cellulose is an excellent mid-grade option that balances affordability with performance. Made from recycled paper, it offers great soundproofing properties and is naturally fire-retardant. Cellulose helps prevent the intrusion of outside air and stops cooler air from escaping, which ensures more consistent energy usage. By reducing air leakage, it enhances the performance of your HVAC system, making it more energy-efficient. It's a reliable choice for improving home comfort while keeping energy costs lower than traditional fiberglass. Fiberglass Insulation Fiberglass is often used to meet building code requirements, but it falls short when it comes to energy efficiency. While it may provide some level of thermal resistance, fiberglass insulation acts more like an air filter than an air barrier. It doesn't effectively stop outside air from entering your home, leading to drafts and inconsistent temperatures. Unfortunately, this means it won't deliver the same utility savings as foam or cellulose insulation. If your goal is to save money and maintain a consistent indoor climate, foam or cellulose are far superior to fiberglass. No batt insulation can fully compete with blown-in insulation in terms of sealing and energy efficiency.
This may be a stupid question but are you able to reuse what falls to the floor? I’m starting to see this wet application of cellulose a lot on you tube but have no real world experience with the process on site.
Our machine has a vacuum on it! No waste. Too expensive to waste! 😂 let’s us know if we can help!
In a world of zombies just doing what they think is common practice or good enough, it’s really great to hear someone such as yourself with a wealth of knowledge about your craft out here providing extraordinary value to people. It’s especially tough to find in the trades who’s work gets covered up so I hope you’re able to extend your reach to more people and educate homeowners and other insulation companies alike. Good work man.
Why are they spraying over vinyl face insulation that does no good
No baffles? 😮
Do you do this sorta work in Texas?
West Kentucky is where there located.
May you all have a very Merry Christmas and safe Happy New Year.
I have a question about the cellulose in a wall. I have a 24x48 pole building. Unfortunately The walls are up all ready . They have been up for a while now. The building was built in 2004. The ceiling is still open rafters. I want to heat the building. I have access to the top of the walls to blow insulation in. Would you use cellulose insulation? Or fiberglass? I live in cold climate in winter time northeast Ohio. Can you help with advice what to use? Thanks

I would always use Cellulose over fiberglass insulation. especially if they can install at 3.5 pounds cubic foot. It will not settle per manufacture guidelines. You could foam the bottom side of the roof deck of 2inches of closed cell foam or 8 inches of open cell foam. Other option would be to hang a flat ceiling and install r 50 blow in cellulose.
Shake your money maker😂
I was just reading an article about a couple that cant sell their home because of the spray foam insulation they had done to the home. Definitely made me reconsider ever getting this done
😮 Don't forget to butter to the left
Insulators!!!!!! 👍
Stupids w/o mask😮
Dudes not wearing a mask ☠️
Closed cell ?
Yes
You can especially over insulate walls when you use plywood or chipboard or cheating board and except drywall because you cannot put as much insulation behind drywall like you can plywood or something else as long as both sides of the insulation, the exterior wall and the interior wall like the plywood is solid You can pack a lot more insulation than what you can sheet rock I’ve seen it and I’ve seen people a whole building 35 or 40 x 50 or 60 just with one gas stove, top one burner stove top have four he only had one on medium or high with a 7 foot ceiling
It's the dirtiest way to insulate a house, too. The crap goes everywhere.
As someone who does HVAC in attics, this gives me extreme anxiety
It should give you piece of mind! We do HVAC also and our HVAC works much easier/better when we use cellulose over fiberglass.
What in the lung cancer
Hell no
Wear proper PPE weirdos
In 10 years we are gonna see commercials with the headline "If you worked with this type of insulation you may be entitled to a cash reward"
Stuff is nasty
im amazed foam and fiberglass are still legal....
Cellulose is actually less harmful than any other insulation. It's comes out much thicker and it's wet so no worries.
This is how I spent $1500 on eye surgery. Wear your ppe!
If it has fire retardant you gotta be careful, if you wanna be absolutely safe use sheep wool
At least wear a mask. Jeez
yea it’s a lot better to breathe than fiberglass ofc but you still shouldn’t be breathing it in. If you actually look at the cellulose you’ll see it’s just a bunch of recycled trash plastic bags newspapers etc. still not good to breath in.
😂😂😂 that doesn’t mean they weren’t wearing masks when the installed it!
Exactly. I was about to comment to that effect.
Came here to make the same PPE comments
Doing this without a respirator is insane.
you mean retarded
Use masks, but this material is best preformed into sheets & then applied - it has too much curing time & won't really set properly when applied vertically.
Come on bro! We are here just trying to help people. This insulation is a great insulation when installed correctly
Spray Foam is THE BEST. I know, I have a chocolate Easter Bunny on top of my HVAC unit in the attic. AND the walls of my house are ICF. Bullet proof, really they are.
Spray foam is awesome and we install it everyday. Doesn’t mean cellulose can’t get the job done and sometimes at a lower cost
No masks? That’s just the dumbest thing.
But it falls in the wall over time leaving a large uninspired air space in the top of the wall
Maybe if some jack legs installed it. Will never settle if sprayed correctly
I feel like if its on your eyelashes maybe some ppe would be good
Damn, I was impressed with your short video. The few comments that this has sounded rough. As a contractor myself, I need to hire these commenters. They sound like the type of employee that would have no problem hunched over in a attic spraying insulation in 120-140 degree heat for 5-6 hours per day. I would Will pay top dollar!!!! Please list your name and email. If he doesn’t hire you I will. Need intelligent hard working people like you!!!!!!!
😂. Too funny
It’s fire retarded shit I wouldn’t put that in my house
You mean the same stuff that’s added to grated and shredded cheese as an anti-caking agent?!
That’s plant cellulose. It extracted from mass produced vegetables, mostly corn husks, then dried and then shredded down to a powder almost. Then mixed with cheese. Most restaurants use corn starch for storing shredded cheese. It’s the cheapest and easiest way.
Insulating your home with a garbage dump. Awesome.
Got it. It sounds like moisture will make it collapse off walls over time.
Negative! If too much is added it will
It settles over the course of 20 years, substantially.
@@robertpolkampnot true if done correctly. Its a great product just the hardest to do correctly
@robertpolkamp Exactly! Why would anyone want that stuff on a vertical surface Rolled insulation will not settle.
@@AdvancedThermalConcepts How can a home owner be sure they're hiring not only an expert but also someone who is highly proficient in the proper application of this insulation? This is a costly job, and far more costly if applied in such a way that it sags after 20 years. Removing and replacing drywall, then sealing with mud, texturing and painting could easily cost thousands if the insulation needs to be redone. Is there some kind of inspection to ensure proper moisture and any other important variables at the time of installation?
Zero masks! That just shows me you don't know what you're doing. Bad move. You'll regret it.
How so?
Mask Not even required in California under prop 65. Thanks for your concern! 😂
mask only good for covid , ask Biden / Faucci
@@beefnasty8993 fibrous particles from the insulation will get lodged in the lungs and lead to chronic failure or cancer
@andrewlalis ahhhhh makes sence
veo que en las zona anglófonas no conocen el cuento de los 3 cerditos. Por qué no hacen casas de ladrillo y piedra y se dejan de sucedáneos
Dont buy a house with that 😫
