The Chicken Shanty: Fried chicken sandwiches
I worry it won't be big enough for two adults, luggage and two small dogs but man its a great car!
Where is the speedometer?
Top left of the single screen. Instead of glancing slightly down, you glance slight to the right.
@@TiredGuyReviews I know people will get used to that, but I don't want to have to. Just got a used 2022 Chevy Bolt on Saturday, speedo front and center in gauge cluster, just like every other car I've ever driven. Other useful driving-related information on the same screen, and less urgent information relegated to the center screen. But you know that, because you had a Chevy EUV! I enjoyed watching your road trip past where I live in Eugene. The Bolt is our second car, not intended for road trips so fast charging not a big issue. This will be our round town car, charged at home, with a possible trip to the coast (Florence or Newport) once or twice a year.
Nice Video! I wonder if the leg room with the fixed second row option only w/ Performance and a Y's second row w/ installed 3rd row seat option are the same?
Good question! I would think it’s the same because instead of third row seats there there is another under floor storage area.
Nice, did you end up keeping the van?
We did keep it. My daughter said she wanted it🤷🏽♂️
I just got a equinox. Love it. Chevy does a good job on EVs and I test drove a few.
We got our Model Y in August. We also have a 2021 Bolt. I don't miss Apple CarPlay at all.
Thank you for the video very in depth as a potential buyer this is helpful.
The next major issue you have, you will have to drive out to get it repaired.. and every time after that. Also selling a car with the brake lights not connected is extremely poor. Quality assurance.
So far no major issues and hoping for non. But yes, from where I live any major repairs could be a definite pain. Easily the biggest negative. But hopefully one I won’t experience.
We have a Mach-E and thinking about a Bolt to replace my other gas guzzler ICE (15mpg), but, we would probably always take the Mach-E on any road trip due to the access to the Tesla network, and somewhat faster charging. The Mach is definitely not the fastest charging out there but it can get around 120-140 below 40%, and 80ish up to 80% SOC. On the last road trip, 25-79% was about 26 minutes at a 400KW Chargepoint station that was Mercedes branded in the Buc-Ees parking lot.
Bolt would be great especially if staying local with it. Could also look into a lower trim equinox ev just in case you had to go longer distance.
The only thing that I don't like about my euv is the shift buttons, much rather have the stalk type.
I would agree. While I don’t think they are horrible and still quick to shift, I like the stalk shifting in our Model Y better.
Does anyone know how to keep the audio silent when starting the car? It always tries to play from the last-selected source (radio, XM, etc) whether or not it was muted or stopped when turning off the car.
I tested this today. Muted it will play. But when I held the power button down so that the screen just showed the temp and time. Then when I got back in the audio stayed silent.
My only issues is the seat are the worst, you feel it with every bumps, I found a solution to my problem, i bought a seat cushion, now i can't drive without it,,
Not sure what year you have but I have heard the seats improved with each model year. The 2023 while not the best I have been in but driving all day in it wasn’t so bad.
@@TiredGuyReviews i owned a chevy bolt euv 2023 LT..
Congratulations and great video. Double check that your home 14-50 wall outlet is a commercial/industrial outlet and not a residential grade dryer outlet. Tesla has two approved outlet manufacturers/model numbers in their manual. The Y looks fantastic.
Great stuff, a Canadian here who is taking delivery of a Model Y RWD in a couple of weeks looking forward to ditching gas altogether it also halps that will also have access to a level 2 charger in my parking spot in my condo building :)
Congrats, I think you’ll love it especially with access to that level 2!
@@TiredGuyReviews Wush there were more superhargers but this is an infrastructure issue and I dont drive far so a Tesla is perfect dfor me
Congrats on your first road trip! The only time I've run into busy superchargers here in the NY/Massachusetts/Connecticut region is during holidays (like July 4th). And when we drove back from seeing the total eclipse (although regular gas stations had huge huge lines also). My Tesla I bought last year was my first BEV and I'm so thankful I didn't get something else with all the hassles with other types of chargers.
Very smart! I did the exact same thing before my first road trip in my Y/LR a year ago. Some tips I've learned: sometimes a charging stop will have both 150 V2 and 250 V3 chargers. The 150's have a silver ring at the base of the handle. And the 150s are the only ones that share power (1A with 1B, 2A with 2B, etc.) Also the first time I stopped at a 250 with a low state of charge and plugged in, the car compressors kicked on and made a really loud humming noise spooling up which startled me. Finally, you can view ALL your supercharger stops and their details in the app. Click on the 3 horizontal lines at the top right, then on CHARGING, then on HISTORY. Tap any of them for the details. Have fun on your first road trip!
Thank you for all the good info!
Thanks, I need to do this also so it's good to know it should be <20% SoC when I do it. I've had my Model Y just over a year now and haven't needed to take a long trip yet.
Wife and I both had Sonatas the end of last year. Now we both have a Model Y. Loving every minute of it.
Not only the range but it charges WAY faster than the Bolt. I love the Bolt for around town but it's not idea for road trips.
Nice. Look forward to more of your videos.
Thank you!
Although we've owned our Bolt for 18 months, we were unaware of many of the features you demonstrate. Thanks!
You might want to move the garage door opener remote or whatever is attached to the metal clip in the lower cubby there. It's activating your wireless charge pad (see the yellow lightning bolt next to the phone icon on the screen?) Any metal objects in the lower cubby could heat up or damage the wireless charger. After my Bolt tried to "charge" my sunglasses a few times, I eventually put them elsewhere.
Thank you. I always kept it in the cup holder. My wife moved it. I will let her know.
How is your electric bill at home ?
Great review thanks!
If you own a house of your own, EVs are great. If you live in an apartment, there's a lot hassle.
I don’t disagree. This is why I think level two chargers everywhere may be more important that DC fast charging. But I am seeing more apartments and hotels etc. with level two charging.
Nice car, I was considering this car too bad my local dealer was greedy and was asking 45k for it. It's a nice car to take kids to school and go to work if you drive less than 20 miles both ways. I hope the new bolt gets even better.
Yeah, the dealer here sold for MSRP. I think it worked to my advantage that they had none on the lot to mark up, mine was ordered.
@youdontknowme2915 Wish those EVangelists could respect other people's views and needs. We have a BOLT and VOLT. long trips, I use the VOLT. No need to worry about broken chargers.
That rearview camera was such a useful feature when I was moving and had the back full of stuff. Also, I agree with everything you mentioned. The only two downsides I can even think of after a year and a half of owning one is that the seats and charging speeds aren't the best for long road trips. Oh I guess also a spare tire would have been a nice inclusion lol. Other than that, it's been my favorite car to own ever. The last thing I wanted to add is that it's probably the best car for anyone who is transitioning from a gas vehicle to an EV. Everything is familiar as soon as you sit down. No screen-only controls and the feeling like you're in some kind of spaceship lol. Thanks for keeping us up to date on your journey, and I hope you have many more great years with your car.
Thank you!
With the latest VW investment, they are in a good position and I think 2026 Q1 timeframe is set so that their autonomy platform also becomes mature by that time, and R2 is also focused on global market. So inorder to expand they need a little bit of time. Hope everything works out well 🤞
Tesla - no CarPlay.
My 2023 Bolt EV is just over a year old now and it's the best car I've ever had. After the tax rebate, it cost me 19K out the door. I live in mountainous terrain in SE Alaska and in the summer I average 4.7 miles per kWh and winter about 3.5... so about 4 miles per kWh year-round. I had a 2014 Leaf before this and it was a great car as well. But this Bolt has been amazing.
Such a good car considering everything you get for the price.
23 bolt EV 2LT - bought a Costco mini fridge, barely squeezed into the back, standing, had to take out the all the trunk floor, wouldn't want to pay $10K more for a EV just for refrigerator hauling
I bought a used 2023 EUV for $18000 a few weeks ago! For the price nothing could beat it.
The BOLT was originally designed as a commuter and DC was at 50kwh back in 2016. Meaning, its showing its age. Good that GM is updating it for 2026 year model.
Congrats on your new Tesla and Im glad youre keeping the Bolt! 😊
welcome to the tesla family. you'll save lots of money when you charge at home vs gas pump
HEY! It's been six months since I bought my '23 EUV, perhaps I should do a six month review? Well, probably not, I only have 1K miles Accept for stop and go traffic jams and drive up service lines one pedal driving sux I prefer to use Drive and coasting in neutral (not down hill)
Have a Tesla model Y long range and a bolt EUV premier. It’s been the perfect combo.
I have a MY LR on order should be getting it soon!
@@TiredGuyReviews that’s awesome, I use My YLR For weekends and extended trips, my wife uses it during the week while I drive the 22 bolt EUV premiere. Just make sure when you pick up your Tesla that you look over it carefully for any flaws including finish. I needed to when I first got mine and I have no complaints. They took care of everything. It’s just good to do it at the lot. May you have many enjoyable miles with it
Thanks for going over this. Ive had my Nolt for 10mos, but haven't explored one pedal driving. Im do excited to try it out!
How long do you stop at a gas station. You stop three times at least 30 minutes causing extra 1.5 hrs Could had travel at least 100 miles.
Most of the time I just charge at home. Never have to go to the “gas station “. Too many people focus on the 1% use case scenario. 99% of the time just charge at home
thanks
We have both the Model Y and Bolt LT2 and I prefer it over the Y myself/ the wife drives the Model Y.. I charge it on my Level 2 Tesla charger at night and is always ready to go in the morning. If I have to travel over 200 miles I'm flying anyway. LOL The furthest I drive is about 160 miles and we just go eat, shop or go see a show and come out in it's ready to go. Once you have owned EV's for a while you don't even think about it anymore. Our pick-up cost $140.00 to fill up with gas. A little inconvenience is well worth the benefit.
Definitely agree and the “inconvenience” is growing less and less with faster charging; and superchargers opening up
Can someone help me with this question on the ''used 4,000 Federal EV tax credit'' Example: Used Chevy Bolt is advertised at dealership for 10,000: but after the sales tax and other fee's from the dealer the cost is more like 11, 500 out the door: but I also I also wish to purchase an extended warranty adding another 1500.00 to the total price bringing the final price to 13,0000, (if I also add the extended warranty) _______________________________________________ Can I say on the IRS EV used car credit program, that the cost of the car was 13,000? or do I have to use only the 10,000 price of the car, excluding the sales tax and dealer fee's and extended warranty cost ?
I’m not tax expert but am Pretty sure that as long as it is under $25000 it should be fine. Taxes and fees do not count towards the price, not sure about warranty. There are definitely more rules than just the price for used EVs
I have a 2021 Bolt EV and love it. I'd like to get another so my wife and I don't need to fight over it (versus driving our minivan). While I like the styling of the EUV, I can't justify the lower range, less power, and higher cost versus the EV. What am I missing beyond the added rear leg room to justify the added cost?
Where did you find a Premier EUV for 33k? They're around 42k in Michigan where they build them.
MSRP, no dealer mark up. Basically ordered it through the dealership near me and then signed the paperwork stating they would sell at MSRP. I verified they would before ordering. And, no sales tax in Oregon.
Euv😂😂😂..that's just marketing..like Mach E mustang..no correlation at all, just the name besides the horse they slapped on the Mach e..it's like a joke😂😂😂
Has GM released any info on when the new Chevrolet Bolt will come out?
Last I saw, GM said 2025. I would be surprised if it’s before 2026 but I hope they prove me wrong.
Nice video. I got the base model brand new for 19k after the tax credit and trading in a beater car. Loving it so far. Only downside is the time charging on road trips, but I’m ok with it. It’s saving me a lot of money I spent on gas previously!
Yes, if you are able to home charge, that’s where the real savings is. That and a lot less maintenance.
Great video, I just finished my taxes and will receive about $4,800.00 I did not qualify for the entire amount but still, that’s awesome. Keep up the good work.
Thank you. Thanks for watching again!
I have had one for a month.Everything you said I get.
Great information
