This lot of Center x shoots like junk for me in 1022
Просмотров 13221 день назад
I bought some Center-X a couple months ago to try out in my Bergara. Had 2 lots both shot like Crap for me in the Bergara. I have about 250 rounds of This Lot 600431 Left figured I would try it in my Match 10/22 see if it shot any better. Spoiler. IT DID NOT.. It shoots like crap. Im even surprised I hit anything at 200 yards... :-)

Maybe learn how to spell ‘Bergara’ and ‘surprise’ if you want to be taken seriously.
Crazy that you have to totally rebuilt one of these rifles with aftermarket "EVERYTHING" to make it as accurate as some rifles costing a fraction of the price with all factory parts... Why do they even offer the 10/22 in a standard form if you have to replace everything on the rifle to achieve that accuracy ? If my thinking is correct , you certainly can have a very accurate 10/22.....Only If you replace the stock, trigger and barrel !!! 😢
By far the Barrel was the most important for accuracy. Yes for most part it is true if you are dumping all that money into it at once. Mind my journey for this rifle started with wanting to try NRL22 for the first time and all I had for a rifle was my 10/22 with a 3x9 scope on it. I had a very low budget and could not afford to drop a bunch of money at one time into any gun. So I started piece by piece putting this together. I saved up for a couple months and Cabelas had a sale on the Covenant5 that was my first upgrade was to get a scope that I could dial. Then a few months later I got my Trigger KITT. Then over the Winter I Got my Barrel. And put it in a Boyds AtOne stock. I ran that for a year. Then I purchased a Vortex Venom and then finally the Oryx Chassis. This progression took about 3 years. Hence this is My budget Build. Run what you Brung. I even Ran the stock bolt the whole time I was using it for competition. So call it crazy if you will I call it dealing with what you have on a budget.
You have all that money in that rifle and don’t know the basics of testing ammo. You need at least 20 rounds down the bore when switching ammo. Different lead and different lube. The entire bore needs lines with the different ammos lube. What happens is, you get false results. Maybe a good group from bad ammo shot down a more full of the previous ammos lube. Or vise-versa. You wasted all of that ammo just to give yourself false results. Also, what’s the hurry? If you slowed down, those groups would be even better. Also too many lines in those reticles, but you do you.
Great Shootn Bud! This is another fun one and super Challenging! Looks like Couple nice set ups you got there👍🏻✌🏻
Thanks it is a tough one with wind for sure
Those inside targets are tough! I'll have my results for the semi-auto category out Friday! I'm guessing you are using the "Side Shot" mount?
No I use a TriggerCam 2.1... BUT I found out over the weekend it does not like temps in below the low teens. It froze up and stopped working on me. Had to put my second gopro out by the target and its batteries were not liking the cold either only had about 30% batter when I shot the 10/22. After email back with Trigger cam as I thought my TC had just flat stopped working they are out of South Africa so do not deal with temps as low as I was using it. So thankfully after getting home and letting warm up it started working again.
@damingrail3655 being so far south in Texas I don't remember shooting in Arctic conditions!😅 I may get a chance this weekend!
Great Shooting that's a tough one but man is it fun.
DG. Thanks for sharing. That is one very difficult challenge target.
Nice build!
Thank you! It is One of my Favorites.
Not too bad, can’t compare a 10/22 to the Bergara, bolt action does not has to account for the bolt going all the way back and reloading a new round, your Bergara most of the time with different types of ammo will be more consistent, just gotta do brands and lots till you find the most consistent.👍🏽
Not this bad. This gun is sub moa with skst plus. This crap shot the same size groups out of begara.
@ Lots as well as you know will shoot differently. I seen a Vudoo shooting RWS R100 groups like your 10/22.
@@Jdelta22ncmy point was not about which shootes it better. I was just hoping for the price i paid for this crap it would arleast shoot good enough to actually use for more than plinking. Any bulk anmo will shoot this good. Seriously sd of over 40 is not acceptable for any ammo of this grade. I have never had that high of sd ever out of my 10/22. I will probably just end up trying in pistol so and hope its more consistent.
It's not the ammo it's the gun my cz rifles will shoot any lot of ammo better than that and that is a fact. It's the gun believe that Beagleman
@@lewisrice3741 Hmm. I do not believe your gun would shoot this ammo better. As soon as you can explain the ES of over 174 and SD of over 40 and it not be an ammo issue. Lot to lot a gun may like one but not another. NEITHER of my Match guns are Picky on ammo. Is every ammo I shoot sub MOA.. NO but IT IS NOT 2 plus MOA Ever. I have never had Aguila SHOOT this kind of SD and ES. SO in my opinion this was a 150 waste of money. There is NO excuse for any lapua ammo to have that wide of spread. Also pointed out to me based on the boxes that were shipped to me that this is OLD Lapua. it is the older white box so hard to say how long it had been sitting on shelf before it was shipped to me. The new Center-x I just got and shot today OUT OF same gun SD under 8 and 30 ES. and roughly 375 inch 10rd group.
Your fix cannot last long. The seat cushion keeps on pushing the shield and it will be broken again. I have the same problem, I went to the junk yard to buy a seat cuishion with newer model, it is working good in my car.
Well it has been working for me for over 8 years and still going strong
I'm glad I am not the only one. I got some Lapua Biathlon, and nothing I own shoots it worth a crap 😢
The part that sucks is when you pay close to $20 a box of 50 shipped and it shoots this bad your stuck with crap and a total waste of money. CCi Standard and Blazzer shoot better than this crap.
@damingrail3655 oh man I completely agree 110% I was actually pretty pissed to be quite frank. I am going to mess with action screws as my last resort. If I find it has improvements I will sure let you know 😉
Awesome dude, nice work on the video with the pulse and shot timer!
Was just using the Pulse for this. Was staring to get late so Did not bring out the SG Go. But I do plan on Trainging with it. was suprised had to have the senitivity up to 30 on the Pulse for it to pick up the shots from my bergara b14r. Its heavy enough it does not hardly move at all when shots go off.
Are you in southern Wi?
Yes. Im from South West Wisconsin.
How did you go about lubing your bullets? Did you spray them as a group, roll them on a pad, or just put a little on a plate and roll the bullet through it? I just did this with some Remington golden bullet, 40 down the tube dry and 40 were sent lubed (90% Isopropyl Alcohol /10% lanolin), not having a spray bottle or pad, I rolled them and then set them in a box with the bullet downward. I coated them in groups of 20 with the first group having one coat and the second group having two coats. The first 20 had better groupings and could make the case that this is a benefit although, maybe too wet because FPS was lower than dry. The second 20 got too wet because it turned all of the rounds into subsonic ammo, decreasing the velocity from approximately 1100 FPS to the low 800s and the grouping turned to absolute crap.
I had an an empty eley box laying around and a couple of SK round holders. I took the eley box filled it about half way with the lube mix. Then I removed the whole sleeve of CCI still in the Clear Acrylic and dipped them in the Lube. Then just set the sleeve of bullets into the SK sleeves in a carboard box and let dry. Once dry I put the CCI sleeve back in the boxes.
@@damingrail3655 Interesting, your CCI had more of a soaking, was it a homebrew lube mix like mine or a brand name? I know CCI SV bullets always seem to be tight fitting to the casing, I wonder if my issue with the Remington Golden Bullets is because they are notoriously loose in the casing, potentially allowing some powder to get wet?
@@Crafty_Fireman I will probably try this with other dryer type ammo after it warms up again here. Do not want Cold weather to scew the results. Anyway. the lube I use is Similar to the Dillon Case Lube. 12 oz of (IPO) Isopropal Alcohal to 1 oz of Lanolin. It was a quick dip not a soak so not worried aobut any of it getting into the bullets at all.
@@damingrail3655 Good To know. I just realized I kept saying Hydrogen Peroxide LOL, I am in fact using Isopropyl Alcohol / Lanolin in a 9:1 ratio. I'm going to give this another try as weather allows here in Maryland. I'm looking forward to comparing notes on this little adventure.
A good test ,, thank you.
In the Airgun world shooting both pellets and cast bullets we have been experimenting for years with different lube's. Two that stand out is 10 to 15 wt liquid silicone oil designed for RC shocks. The other is finish line dry lube for pellets. it is a higher end dry lube for bicycle chain use. It is very popular in field target shooting to get more consistent groups. For the slug's I cast, using the silicone oil not only is more accurate, but prevents fouling of the bore for a much-much longer period of time. KnifeMaker
I hope you do all this soon!
The lubrication also helps in minimizing fowling. Lead bullets don’t tolerate a lot of heat before they start to deform and I think the wax helps with the temps. I am not an engineer by any stretch of the imagination but we all know that lead is softer than some other metals. Good video really enjoyed it. That’s a very nice setup you have there.👍🏽
Thanks it was fun to see. Have some other Worse ammos to try this test with now.... 🙂
@ That’s the way to find the right ammo. I have been fortunate with Norma TAC22 lately at 50 yards with different rifles. I found a brick at my local store for a very good price.
@@Jdelta22nc I have a 10 month wait on getting my gun in for lot testing. Has been hit and miss. SK RM shoots well out to about 150 yards then it falls apart for me. I hate spending crap ton on ammo to find it just not work. Picked up some Center X a few weeks ago. Was expensive with shipping it Shot like crap CCI Blazzer shot better than the 2 lots. So the bulk ammo test are fun to see shoot good. Any trigger time is good practice.
@ I hear you! I buy 1 or 2 boxes when I can then test, if it works then I buy more. Shipping keeps getting higher and higher. I have been fortunate to have more than a couple of 22s so if one don’t like that ammo another one will.
I ran a test like this many years ago...I think it was in the 90's, but possibly early 2k's, but I used Alox for the lube. I've always wanted to retry the test with Alox and rolling in graphite and or mica after drying to prevent grit pickup.
Did it year ago. It made a difference for the better. Preperation H, bees wax, couple others too. Worked on bulk ammo. Actually seemed to help for a couple non lubed bullets afterward too.
Something else that I remember made a difference, it was Paco Kelly's accurizer or something to that effect. It's a swaging tool that allows you to modify the outside diameter of the projectile and also change the shape of the tip. I went looking for targets that I saved back in 2011 and there was one that I tested in particular that shrank the group with bulk ammo down to less than 1/4 of an inch at 25 yd when it was over 1-in when I started
How about Hornady one shot
Right down the rabbit hole! This looks like it will be my next experiment 🎯
All .22lr are lubed. Some are waxy. Some feel dry and some are oily. Leave them alone. Anyone who wipes them off or tries adding a line are messing things up. These manufacturers have found their secret sauce that works. CCI’s are lubed. It’s just a dry lube. Not one .22lr maker in the world makes .22lr ammo that is not lubes. Your holding is shaky and your not holding each one is the exact same place. You need to work on your shooting. Way too fast between shots also.
Grab you a box of the new Remington plated subsonics. Dry as a bone and almost corroded looking the worse 22 ammunition I have ever shot. Huge extreme velocity spread sometimes 100 fps. Your statement that all are lubed should be quality 22lr are lubed or at least better 22lr. Don't confuse the "new" plated Remington subsonics with the original black coated lead version they sell.
I use red grease it tightens up the groups pretty good !
I’ve done this with Hoppes #9. Just dip the tip of the proj into the Hoppes, not too much, chamber and fire immediately. Messy, but you will see tighter groups.
Great idea thanks for video. although the 50 yard showed promise it went away at the 100 yard. I'm thinking a lube that is much thinner viscosity like cooking oil possibly.
That rifle shoots CCI like Match ammo! What in the world is this proprietary blend of secret herbs and spices. How do I get my hands on the recipe 🤔 My new rifle seems to like CCI SV but maybe not that much!😅
😃😄😀
😂
Cool test!
Great science project! Appreciate you doing the homework for us!
I actually had this exact same idea 😮 I got some lube to try this also! Wish I could get ahold of the SK lube they use 😂 Looks like there is something to this 😮
Good job.
That's food for thought
Food for thought? Maybe pizza. 🤣 Hi Boomstick.
LUV THE THINKING OMN THE SUBJECT..... THE RABBIT HOLE RUNS DEEP 🤔🤔

That a pretty interesting experiment, positive results from what I see. May have to try this myself.
I was surprised. Definitly think it is worth some more investigation.
@@damingrail3655 Where do you get the lanolin?
@@Grumpyseabee22 Amazon. My case lube mix is one bottle (Red heat) The red 12 oz. bottles of heat is 99% Iso Propyl Alcohol to 1 oz of lanolin.
In your opinion what was the best ammo? I normally shoot blazer and fairly happy with it.
All this testing is subjective. If Just for squirrel hunting I think I would probably go with something federal Automactch it seems to be pretty consistant. For me for Practice ammo for Matches on This gun My go to is SK standard Plus. For Matches I run the Rifle Match. If I could afford to get it all the time I just shot some Lapua LR and it shot great for me all the way out to 200 yards.. But my pocket book just not allow for that right now. Maybe if I can get my gun lot tested and buy a case that is JUST for Matches.
@damingrail3655 what yardage is your matches at. i went to a 1000 yard match at dead zero gun range in Tennessee last Saturday. If all goes well I get a Seekin 7mm prc this week.
@@dhunter48951 I only shoot PRS/NRL22 Rimfire. So Most of the time I am shooting under 160 yards.
Good shootin' with ya this weekend, man! That was an awesome match!
Thanks, You shot great.. Was a lot of fun.
That was some fine shooting! My first attempt was plumb embarrassing! New rifle and a quick decision on ammo got me!
Innsanee aim
Federal Automatch is my main plinking ammo. I was hoping it would do good as I've piled up thousands of rounds of it. Lol
I can't believe that people still keep buying a ten twenty two they are not accurate and putting all the aftermarket stuff on them and they still won't shoot even close to accurate with all the money they put in them they could have bought a cz457 one accurate rifle. Beagleman
Nice score! Almost perfect!😮❤❤❤
Hi, Damin. Where can i download the show me the money target?
It is in my Pinned comment. dayattherange.com/charity-shoot-show-me-the-money-or-pay-the-tax-man/
Haven't been having much luck with SK recently myself. Eley has been pretty good to me though. I can't remember if I asked you already, but your action doesn't seem to have the "hump" a lot of bergaras have. Did you have anyone work your action over?
I bought the Action from a friend. He did all the work himself. The bolt itsef is stock but all of the internals were polished up really good. Smoth as silk. The bolt shroud is from crossroad precision. And the other big factor is the Bolt handle from M2actual the Mongoos2. It is weighted witch aids in bolt cycling.
@@damingrail3655 I'll need to check out the bolt handle. Mine has gotten a lot smoother just with use, but its still not as smooth as yours. That KI precision barrel still treating you right?
@@Shoot_More This barrel Rocks. Cant wait til I am able to possibly get it Lot tested. Right now I am shooting what I have been able to get at a resonable cost. Still having a hard time justifying cost of premium ammo..
@@damingrail3655 It definitely hurts the wallet, but I've enjoyed the consistency I see downrange. I looked up that bolt knob and may order me one. Are you using the same factory threaded handle, or did you switch it out too? Looks chrome in the video.
