I bought the Action from a friend. He did all the work himself. The bolt itsef is stock but all of the internals were polished up really good. Smoth as silk. The bolt shroud is from crossroad precision. And the other big factor is the Bolt handle from M2actual the Mongoos2. It is weighted witch aids in bolt cycling.

@@damingrail3655 I'll need to check out the bolt handle. Mine has gotten a lot smoother just with use, but its still not as smooth as yours. That KI precision barrel still treating you right?

@@jonstahulak This barrel Rocks. Cant wait til I am able to possibly get it Lot tested. Right now I am shooting what I have been able to get at a resonable cost. Still having a hard time justifying cost of premium ammo..

@@damingrail3655 It definitely hurts the wallet, but I've enjoyed the consistency I see downrange. I looked up that bolt knob and may order me one. Are you using the same factory threaded handle, or did you switch it out too? Looks chrome in the video.

So I bought the action from a friend. He polished up the internals and bolt really good it is smooth as silk. The bolt modifications that have been done are crossroads precision cocking shroud and firing pin spring, The Bolt handle is the Mongoose 2 Actual Sledgehammer it is a SS Weighted bolt handle it aids in smother closeing of the bolt for faster bolt manipulation. I just asked the guy i bought it from this am. He thinks Eric Cortina may have bought out Crossroads Precision. I did not have to do any modificaition to the mag catch on my Gen one. the Mag loc in good and it feeds flawless. That being said Do not load into the mag when you are on a prop as that WILL cause feeding issues.

WHY? Seeing this just reinforces how good these barrrels are. Even with a little ding like that in Barrel it shoots great. Now I would really like to see someone like Kenny @EagleEyeShooting try some testing to see where in a barrel does damage start effecting performance.

@damingrail3655 because they sent you that absolutely knowing it was like that. You paid for professional machining, and you got something that had a defect even if it shoots great. In my opinion, that is unacceptable.

@@CountryRimfire I do not know that. I bought this Action with Barrel Used. I could have damaged it and not know. Not sure how but if it shoots this good I really do not care that it has this Knick in it. I did not post this to knock the Barrel. Only as I know what to see more of expriments. If I Had a barrel that I could just trash I would love to see how bad a barrel has to be to loose accuracy.

@@damingrail3655 did not know it was used. That changes everything, as you don't know if it was damaged by the previous owner.

If I remember correctly it was just an simple Set screw holding it on Simple allen wrench to get it off. 1/8" or 3/16"

Overall very poor performance for the Stock Ruger. I did not feel any ammo I had on hand did well at all in it.

@damingrail3655 I did rifle match vs Aguila Standard Velocity with the 597and both went from 1.5 to .38! It was entertaining, to say the least!😅

I agree I could not get decent groups out of any of this ammo in this gun. Test was just to see if upgrading ammo would help tighten up groups. For the Stock Barrel... It was a total bust. I expected at least one to someone group. BUt nope. It did not seem to like any of the ammo I had on hand. So It will have to stick to being a Squirrel Gun cause best I got out of it was minute of Squirrel. Which is fine for a Hunting gun. Just not good choice of NRL22. Only use if it is the only gun you have but do not expect to win. Not a good choice if you are going out to buy to start with. Way better choiced out there right now in the very budget area that are better suited for a little more money than 10/22. At the time I started 10/22 It was all I had and did not have the money to go buy a gun just for shooting matches. SO I used it and had fun doing it. Then Upgraded a piece at a time until I got the gun put together that is in Part 2 of this series.

Yeah, mine too. I have a bone stock B14 R with the steel barrel and it shoots lights out at my ranges (25, 50 & 100 metres). To be honest i haven't tried many other brands of ammo through it, just because it shoots so good with SK Standard Plus. I've put pretty much all of the SK range through it but can't tell any difference really. So i've just settled on the Standard Plus coz it's the cheapest in their range. This is the first time i've come across this and i've just subbed. Perfect presentation delivered in a calm and no nonsense style. Well done that man. ATB from the other side of the pond.👍

@buckshotaaa yeah, so is mine. I did put a Timney 2-stage in it, but nothing else has been done to it. Mine shoots SK Standard and SK Magazine very well also. I read somewhere they are discontinuing the SK Magazine, which skinks. Great practice ammo!

I was actually more surprised at how BAD CCI SV shot in this gun. I expected it to do better than what the Federal did.

This stock barrel did not have any super impressive groups with any of the ammo. All pretty much only Minute of Squirrel. Please keep eye out for part 2.. My KIDD Budget Build 10/22 does a much better job

@@CountryRimfire My Bergara is not Stock though It has a 24" 1.25 strait profile KI Precision barrel.

No doubt it was a shock. Fed AutoMatch Is a good Minute of Squirrel accuracy Most of the time. This was a surprise.

@damingrail3655 I really thought I was on to something the first time I shot it! Then I got some CCI Standard Velocity, and then I got SK Standard Plus!😅

@@chrislang5659 Some of the ammo I ran during testing was the very first time running Like CCI SV I expected to do pretty well. It was actually the worst out of My Bergara. SK Is my go to and The Bergara Likes it. I have not found the Perfect Lot yet. Maybe next year I send it in to get it lot tested.

@damingrail3655 Jdelta22 sent me some SK Standard Plus trying to help me get better groups. Man oh man did it ever! I was so impressed I went and got a brick of Rifle Match thinking it could only get better. 😅 it shoots about the same as CCI SV. I'm learning!😅

@@chrislang5659 SO I have been told by a couple different sources that the way that SK sorts ammo is that they only have 2 lines. They Test and the best goes to From top grade to Low grade. SO Lapua at top what does not make the cut goes down to SK LRM, Then to SK RM then to SK STD Plus... I get pretty much same results out of RM as STD Plus in my Bergara. I have one Case of STD Plus that shoots better than RM.

I did not even run the Rifle match at 200 as My Target at 200 when I was trying to get SK Std on paper I the spin drift on Standard was about 1.5 Mil to right and that messed up the target for any 200 yard testing at that point. I will need to put More targets out and concentrate on Just trying to get good data at 200 when I can get On paper with Spin drift accounted for at that distance to get some group that can be accurately measured with out me trying to get calculate groups that have shots off the paper at that time.

@@damingrail3655 Gotcha. I've started doing group testing at first light to combat the wind. Really helps limit the wind factor that can also skew those longer distance results. Curious to see what your groups are when you test again!
