Thanks for this! I'm doing stopped contacts on the dog walk and seesaw, but I'm letting my dog do a running contact on the A frame, it seems such a steep angle for them to stop on. At the moment it's going OK, I can keep up with her on the A frame without a stopped contact, but she's way too fast for me on the dog walk :). Looking forward to seeing more of your videos

Good stuff. Do u have recommendation for place to buy weave poles? Everything I see online has a plastic base n I don’t think that will work for my 72lb goldendoodle.
Hi, Yara. I made my own weave poles, but I have bought some equipment from Mark's agility equipment, and I am very happy with their products. Mark has different selections of weave poles available, and the base is aluminium. You can also check out madagility.com, or cleanrun.com!

Thank you, Soraia! Yes, I think those lines help them see poles, but I have seen poles with spiral lines on, or solid colors without any lines. So I think it's important to introduce different poles to your dogs so they can weave no matter what kind of poles they use at trials!

Thank you! Yes, I agree 😊 Unless it is not a criteria we have taught our dogs (ex, contacts, start line stay...etc...), most mistakes, like off courses are our faults anyways 😆

Just starting agility lessons so this is very helpful along with your cross video which helped me understand the crosses better. I do dog events lure coursing and racing but work out of vehicle for that .Beaux and I get cold easy so I will be prepared for that even if indoors. Thanks, Lynne
We have done Lure Coursing a couple of times, too! It was a lot of fun and Kai loved it! 😆 Yes, I live and work out of vehicle when going to a dog show, too 😂

This is great! I am planning to do agility with my corgi, she's only a year so I was afraid to start any kind of agility training until she's older. These are some great exercises I can work on without any sort of "official" agility training. I love it! Going to start working on some of this with my girl
I'm so happy to know this video inspired you to try some agility foundation with your puppy! There are a lot of foundation exercises you can do with a puppy that will tie to agility later 😊 For example, I made a wobble board for Laramie, and he has learned to walk it. This teaches a puppy how to walk and balance on surfaces that move, and hopefully, he will have an easier time learning seesaw later! 😊
I'm trying to learn agility so his starting fundamentals are: sit, down, stay, heel, come. receive reinforce food or toy with a variable number of asked commands. agility skills: wrap around the pole- with right-hand anti and clockwise, left-hand anti and clockwise. front cross - sending him to wrap the pole and waiting to face him and changing conducting hand reverse spin- sending him to wrap the pole giving your back to him, walk, and keeping the conducting hand

I have an extremely active puppy. He is a 14 week old Catahoula. As he gets bigger his day to day physical demands are growing with him. He is also highly intelligent for a dog. I have been thinking Agility would be a great pass time for him. We live remotely so joining an agility club is not an option. Thank you for this video it is very encouraging

Yes, I learned from my first dog that it's very important to be organized when participating in dog sports. Organizing documents and tracking records are part of the sports!!! 😆
I suddenly remembered how much you love using planners… 😂 I have some questions if you don’t mind answering: 1. Why do you only let Laramie have the tug toy when he’s outside or interacting with you? 2. How did you come to name him Laramie? Thanks!
Haha I don't remember using planners in college, but I use planners because I can't remember anything 😆 To answer your questions... 1. I only let Laramie have his tug toy when he is playing with me because I want him to think his tug toys are special! 😆 If the tug toy was left in his crate, and is always available to him, he won't think it's a special toy anymore. I want him to love to tug, and I want him to think that he gets to tug and play with me as a reward, only when he is being a good boy. For example, I sometimes play tug with him instead of giving him a treat when he comes to me when called. I want him to know he will get to have a fun party of tugging when he listens to me, which reinforces the come command. He pays attention to me all the time now and makes sure he can run to me when I call him, because he doesn't want to miss out on the fun tug party 🎉 😆 I also want him to associate the tug toy to me and playing with me, so I don't let him wonder off from me when he has the toy in his mouth. I say "get it" when I start playing tug, and he releases the toy when I tell him "out" (But often times, I say "get it" again right after he releases the toy and do the tugging and "out" again a few more times so he knows I'm not taking away the toy when he releases the toy, he knows the game gets even more fun 😉) This "get it" and "out" let me have the control of when he can start playing tug and when the tug play time ends, which makes the tug toy even more special for him ❤️ 2. I named him after a truck!!! 😆 I wanted him to be strong, powerful, and be able to perform well even in tough conditions like a truck 😜

I like to listen to Mccann Dog Training or Dad Dog Agility Podcasts/RUclips videos. I listen to them all the time when I'm driving, doing dishes...etc... I subscribe to OneMind Dogs agility program, so I watch their videos, too 😊 I also recommend looking for an agility club or trainer near by! They can see how you and your dog work together, and give you advices and training tips tailored to your specific needs 😉
