It was great when you two got some friends and were offered some drink and foods. I got that before when I was in Phong Nha cave too. A senior man offered me a box of milk and a rain coat when he knew I was from a far-away land from the South, similar story in the same province 😊

The Vietnam War is very famous, and Vietnam is so far away from the United States. Why did the United States send troops to intervene during the Vietnam Civil War? I'm curious about the reason

Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. We try to celebrate the human spirit on this channel and avoid complicated politics. That being said, the “American War,” as it is called in Vietnam is a complex subject that is best left to the experts. We have visited many museums in Vietnam to get the Vietnamese perspective. As you would expect, there are differences between the American and Vietnamese accounts. I think both countries can agree the war was very tragic and impacted families for generations. The people we met in Vietnam were very welcoming, but the war was always in the back of our minds as we visited historic sites, and there were many times we both felt uncomfortable about this history.

I wish you two have wonderful experiences in Quy Nhon City and most of all, discover the beauty of the people here as well as the culture and history of development of Binh Dinh province. Try the jellyfish noodle soup with fish cakes or fish noodle soup with fish cakes in Nha Trang. Try eating chicken salad porridge wherever you go, when you are not feeling well. Just eat porridge or pho and you will recover your health. In addition, with the rainy and windy weather in Vietnam, you should drink electrolyte drinks such as Pocari, salted lemon juice or sugarcane juice or coconut water.... In addition, you can buy goji berries and mix them to drink every day: every morning and night when going to bed. Traveling far with the four seasons in Asia, you need to drink more water to avoid hypothermia.

Btw, just an add-on info for the Tao Dan park in Saigon, it was the garden of marshal Le Van Duyet, a military strategist in the Nguyen Dynasty. Then it was turned into a public park. Most of the population in the United States is concentrated in big cities so they can be quite crowded. Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Chicago, and many other cities are quite busy. Indonesian cities are different, but they didn’t feel too crowded. We have lived in big cities so it’s probably our perspective. People in the rural parts of the United States don’t like big US cities and think they are too crowded.

When I saw Ms Hue showing up in your video, I have felt like part of my family was just showing up. She did not forget me even I have been 6 years away from home. Every corner of my city was just showed up in your video, one by one. Thank you for your good work! I am not sure when you will be in my country again for the Tet holiday, but if you plan to visit it for Tet, let me know. I can invite you to my family dinner, which is the best way for you to know how the local people prepare and celebrate the Tet. The smell of the incense, the traditional foods and the wishes with the red envelopes make the Tet all together.

There are some spots in HCMC (Saigon) which you can visit, maybe next time. They are Cu Chi tunnels and Vien Giac pagoda. I am the local but I was still surprised when I saw these. I did not know you like to see the temples. Vien Giac pagoda is a small temple in an alley far away from the city centre but it is very clean, peaceful and beautiful. Btw, in return for your work of my city, I am translating your video into Vietnamese so that more Vietnamese can understand it. When I finish, I will let you know and send it to you.

@saigonese.nguyen we had a great time visiting again. So many things to see. We’re pretty bad with pronouncing Vietnamese names and places, and it seems like the accents are different in each city we visit so even Vietnamese pronounce the names differently. I knew a lot of people named Nguyen in California so that one was easy for us to pronounce 😂. The hardest city name so far is Quy Nhon 😂. Ms Hue was so nice. I asked her if I could take video and she held up the meat and put it on the grill so would could show it on our RUclips video. You can tell her we really appreciated her hospitality. We are so glad we could share a little of your home. Our best experiences have been outside of the tourist areas. We are not sure when we will return to Saigon, but we definitely want to visit during Tet. We will, of course, let you know when we will be back in Saigon. 🙏☺️

@saigonese.nguyen we added Vietnamese subtitles, but I am not sure how well they translate. We always create closed caption subtitles in English and then use RUclips to create subtitles in other languages such as Thai, Vietnamese, and Indonesian. You can share the translation with us and we can post it because I’m sure what we have is not very accurate.

Gonna all your Bali videos now. 👍 One question- I have some mobility issues and breathing problems. Are there many steps in this Lovina resort? Can you also suggest some waterfall where I can enjoy decent views without needing to climb steps. Thank you 😊

Thanks for watching and leaving such a nice comment. There were steps on the property that we needed to take to get to the dining room, but it was not a lot. It’s a small property, but it’s on a hill so walking to the spa, for instance, requires taking stairs. Regarding waterfalls, we didn’t visit any, but there are a few nearby. The resort can probably arrange and excursion, but you might want to inquire with them. As you can see from the video, we mostly stayed on the property. 🙏☺️

Now that we are in Vietnam, Thailand seems so different. We just "accidentally" had Che for the first time in Quy Nhon. We used Google Translate and it said it was "Tea," so Stephanie ordered it thinking it was "Thai Tea." I ended up drinking/eating it because it had Durian in it 😂😂😂. The Thai apparently meant it included Durian. I was wondering why the drink cost more than the Banh Xeo that we were eating.

Thanks so much. We really like Bangkok because it has all the modern comforts of a big city, great transportation, as well as lots of cultural sites. We went to see a Thai movie (with English subtitles), spent time enjoying the malls, and really just had a relaxing time. We've realized that we enjoy a little adventure followed by a lot of downtime, and Bangkok is a good place where you can do both. Now are making our way back through Vietnam by train which has been quite an adventure. We will definitely need some downtime after we get to Hanoi.

Hi Mike. Yes, we visited Bangkok for just a few days earlier this year and figured it would be a good place to return and spend a month after traveling so much in Indonesia. It was a good place to take a break. We will likely be back in Türkiye next year. We were considering Georgia as well. We actually had big plans to take the train from Ankara to Kars, but it’s become almost impossible to get a ticket as there are so many tourists trying to take the limited number of seats. Earlier this year we were set on Georgia as a destination, followed by Armenia and Azerbaijan, but things in Georgia seem to be changing so we’ve moved it to the “maybe” category.

It’s called the Dogu Express, but it’s become too popular. I think Covid kind of slowed down plans to expand the line to accommodate tourists and so far they haven’t expanded the operation. You basically need to wait until midnight local time, hit refresh on your browser as tickets are released, and then quickly book them. That’s too much effort for us 😂. We will find something else interesting or wait until they expand the line.

I went to Thailand with a travel agency so I only knew the most popular parts with modern entertainment instead of the green areas. This is an additional view for me about Thailand. A fun fact: in Vietnam, although not many people see the authentic Gucci accessories, but we call crocodiles Gucci bags lol. That is a slang has just been "invented" lately by VNese teenagers.

I am so confused with your journey. You went back and forth countries. I thought you had to spend more for transportation? Like you used to be in Thailand and now you are here again. You went to VN and you said you will be in VN again.

    • @388_days

@saigonese.nguyen 😂😂 We started in Vietnam last year and then we visited Thailand. We then took the train down to Malaysia and then visited Indonesia. We liked Thailand and Vietnam a lot so we decided that after Indonesia we would return to those two countries for another visit. We took a plane to Singapore and then another plane to Bangkok which isn’t very expensive on AirAsia. From Bangkok we flew to HCMC which is not very expensive either. So now we have about 60 days we can stay in Vietnam. We basically made a very large circle traveling down to Indonesia. Initially we only planned about half our trip which gave us the flexibility to return to Thailand and Vietnam because we liked them so much (30 days in Thailand and 60 days in Vietnam). After that we will start to head back to the United States, but we will stop in the Philippines and Japan on our way back. In total we will have travelled for about one year in Southeast Asia. Does that help? We didn’t have a firm plan but are glad we left time to return to Vietnam. We will have spent almost 100 days in Vietnam when we finish our trip. 👍👍

@@388_days Haha, I got it. I agree with you that Air Asia and some other budget airlines in Southeast Asia really offer good prices to travel around the area, and USD is quite high when it is converted to the local currencies. So you might find the transportation costs reasonably. Because I am still a student, I still save every penny when I travel, even the air fares were very low. I was trying to experience everything in a country before I moved to the next ones. Maybe when I graduate and have a little more money, I will have more options like you now. I am glad that you found my country interesting. I like Thailand too, and Singapore, and Japan lol. Well, I actually love traveling. Thailand really knows how to do tourism. My country is beautiful and there are some good things but we still have a lot of lessons needed to be learned to improve the tourism. I appreciate some visitors who have a special bond with my country, despite its flaws.
