Ball bearings and races are a pain. The SRM tapered headstock bearing is expensive and out of stock till mid 2024. What can you do with a non OIF B25 to upgrade the headstock bearings.

    Have u still got ur CGV. Is it still working ok. I cannot anyone to get mine done despite having regassed, then losing it all. They tried using Stopleak from Halfords, a complete an utter waste of money. Then having other parts replaced, then finding out more recently after pressure testing, there's still a leak. Cannot win.

    Hiya I’ve got a bsa scrambler I motor-crossed a long time ago. Always wanted it on the road. It doesn’t run a lot of original parts like number boards and tank. Would this be a problem with inspections or is it just the frame and engine numbers there after and that it looks like a motorcycle. Or would this through a spanner in the works trying to date and identify the bike Thanks

    Hi mate sorry to bother you , but can I adjust my idle with it. I’ve a 2003 speed triple 955i and it’s low rev on tick over. So I’m wondering can I adjust it. Many thanks Lee

      I believe you can but I haven't tried it myself. Low tickover is probably being caused by something else though, check the IVAC pipes as they can do funny things with tickover and low throttle response. Having TuneECU is fairly essential when working on these old buses and it may give you a clue what the problem is as it also shows fault codes and its cheap at £16.

    There's a little O ring that goes around a water pipe between the cover and engine casing, I'm thinking that's gone on mine, either that or its that water pump seal or head gasket. Anyone know how to test which one is at fault?

    Hi, A B25 oil pump has deeper gears, becouse it has a plain big end ( the only BSA single with plain bearing big end,) requiring 60psi, whereas all the B and C range are roller big end so require 2psi hot ,

    Thanks for the video, as well as explaining the symptoms of broken pipes! I wonder if that seal was in the airbox, did you give it a shake?! Finally what domino grips are those as well as the Renthal bar bend when you get a moment?

    Hi just got my logbook back for my 1969 Morris minor next to the tax section it says historic vehicles so I went online to tax the car filled in the details and it said your car my be mot except under the 40 year rule do you want to make the declaration so I did just wondering is there any way to check if the car is now mot exempt?

      Yes it should be exempt but maybe they haven't applied for it to be exempt or maybe they dont know about the 40 year rule. First I would make sure it has a current V5c if it hasn't been on the road for a while. It it has been on the road and the owner wants to put an MOT on it, happy days let them do it (or maybe negotiate a cheaper price without an MOT). Once you have the V5c document or the new owner slip go straight to the post office and you can make it Tax and MOT exempt the same day and drive away.....

    Why not take the rear light feed from the dip switch input rather than the two outputs. That way you won't need those two diodes?

      Because you would loose the feed to the rear light when selecting high beam and the rear light will go off

    When you modify what can be registered as an historic vehicle, you lose the right not to take it for an MOT right? My LC is currently standard, coming up for 40 years old, I'm wondering what mods I could do without affecting the no MOT aspect?

      Motorcycles have much looser criterias than other 4 wheel vehicles. Brakes suspension, wheels even engine capacity are all considered acceptable: Official guidance below The following are considered acceptable (not substantial) changes if they fall into these specific categories: • changes that are made to preserve a vehicle, which in all cases must be when original type parts are no longer reasonably available; • changes of a type, that can be demonstrated to have been made when vehicles of the type were in production or in general use (within ten years of the end of production); • in respect of axles and running gear changes made to improve efficiency, safety or environmental performance; • in respect of vehicles that have been commercial vehicles, changes which can be demonstrated were being made when they were used commercially. In addition if a vehicle (including a motorcycle): • has been issued with a registration number with a ‘Q’ prefix; or • is a kit assembled from components from different makes and model of vehicle; or • is a reconstructed classic vehicle as defined by DVLA guidance; or • is a kit conversion, where a kit of new parts is added to an existing vehicle, or old parts are added to a kit of a manufactured body, chassis or monocoque bodyshell changing the general appearance of the vehicle; it will be considered to have been substantially changed and will not be exempt from MOT testing. However if any of the four above types of vehicle is taxed as an “historic vehicle” and

      @@steveclark.. so long as it is a parallel twin it's covered by the rules. Insurance obviously will want it declaring but it will still be mot and tax exempt.

    The cutouts on the plain plates are make each plate out-of-balance, this encourages the plates not to stick to the friction plates, by staggering the cutouts the whole clutch pack remains balanced.

    Thanks for uploading this series. The screws on that plate behind the clutch are always a bugger to get off. Normally a swift tap with an impact driver does the trick. Interesting that you call the pin that goes through the pin on the gearbox camplate a "cotter pin" I am a brit now living in Canada and that is what they are called over here, but in UK I always knew them as split pins. Cotter pin is what we use to hold a kick start lever on. Would be a good idea to replace those two springs int eh gearbox that index the camplate, they are prone to stress fracturing. Looking forward to the rest of the series, all the best.

    I'm curious how you got so much rust in the coolant system? Do you not run coolant or just water? Also are you running ATF in the gear box or is the red a result of the rust water mixing with the oil? Looks like an RZ500 alu kicker. Nice. Was hoping to see it on the road in this video.

      It's actively encouraged with being exempt from road tax, annual mot test and qualifies for cheap classic insurance

    Just a couple of facts the Mk1 Capri also came from the factory 3.0 v6 The RS 2000 mk5 & 6 are under rated with people not in the know, the one you looked at was the rare 4x4 the fwd ones where faster than the earlier turbo escorts also there was a rally one fwd called a Maxi with wider arches 280bhp N/A & on the tarmac was faster than the Escort Cosworth so very impressive.

    The first time going out on my lc 16 years ago it died on me and i had to push it up a highway onramp going against traffic,,,,pushed it over a mile called for a ride back home all the time thinking my engine was fried? While waiting for my ride i noticed petcock was in the off position(as it was chugging i flipped the petcock),,,switched it to reserve and it fired right up….lol

      Vin has to have previously been registered in UK, not sure when or what happened but the VIN had to have been registered after around 1980, so if its an bike/frame thats been in a shed/garage it may not appear on the DVLA database

      Hi Nigel I have 2 starfires, both are non oif, and dont have that spacer, they are both very tight against the engine mount. Was the spacer a later addition?

    hi i would say its got the wrong valves in you need to check the valve stem length could be c15
