I also do not agree with the take on Nicholas Cage. I think he's proven he can do completely nonchalant roles, as well as serious, as well as in-between. I don't think it's at a rate any different than an actor such as Adam Sandler. My references for that would be nonchalant roles like Ghost Rider and Renfield. Serious roles like Lord of War and Con-Air. And then a little bit of both (imo) like National Treasure and Dream Scenario.

I don't agree with " this is more off the walls than anything Tarantino has done ". Django unchained is quite possibly the most off the wall take on slavery that we've ever seen on the big screen. It's definitely the most far removed reimagining of a previous established film ever, and that's just Django. Pulp Fiction is probably the most popular off the wall film ever made. It takes multiple random perspectives and somehow tries to connect them all into one story. Hitmen with moral compasses, Gimps and sexual assault, and overdose resuscitation. Grindhouse is also insane because Tarantino is cast as a rapist in his own movie, and that's not to mention the crazy things that happen in that story (MACHINE GUN FOR A LEG). Natural Born Killers is 1000% something Tarantino would write and he deserves credit for every critique this movie gets. Good or bad.
