How to fit Yellow Balau Hardwood Decking
Just drove behind one of your vans, got to say absolutely incredible driving. The driver didn't crash! Keep it up lads.
Hm cluding
When you say Yellow Balau, do you actually mean Yellow Meranti? Or are you referring to another species within the Shorea genus? From what I understand the Janka ratings of the species vary quite a bit.
My preparations are going a little slower than expected but I will be coming to you for a load of balau soon. Excellent wood.
Please send me contact details how to order

Hm
That’s not a Rainscreen
This is what they call open-joint rainscreen cladding.
@@derikjbrandt no it’s not no gap
Can you remove millgaze by sanding or planing the wood surface?
Really? You have a ground deck supported by random bits of pavers and bricks…. Wow….
What do you use to treat it?
Good ole Douglas
I want
Which stain could take out the orange-red hue- what technique could you use on Douglas fir.
If you wants the timber to technically ‘grey’ so that would take away the orange-red hue, then we suggest not to treat it and allow the timber to naturally weather. Hope this helps
If you are fixing boards vertically, you should have a batten fixed vertically first then one horizontal fto form a air gap, vented at bottom and top. Unless you have cut out the backs of all the battens you have fixed on, I very much doubt it. Also if you are promoting something, shaully you shout be at least wearing safety glasses!
So how do you work it out so you don't end up with a small cut at the top?
How much for a 8.5m x 5.5m?
Hi! If you could send us an email at sales@southgatetimber.co.uk with all your measurements and which product you’re after, we’ll get a quote sent out to you asap.
need one but too pricey
They definitely are a costly project, but try looking at some of our more budget friendly materials like Douglas Fir, it help bring costs down a little
How long did this take to build?
Our customer on this one didn’t specify how long it took but it all depends on what you’re trying to create. Something like this would usually take 2-3 months
Wondering whether to put some sort of treatment on mine to preserve it.. mine gets lots of varied weather from heavy rain to strong sunshine for 8 hrs a day. UV protection oil or just leave it as the wood is treated from new?
If you’re looking to preserve the colour and protect it from the weather then we’d suggest treating with the UV protection oil. But if you like the weathered, grey tones then definitely leave it and allow it to naturally weather
'Promo SM' 💞
What nail gun you using on that ? Need to buy one to do mine with just wondered what was the best to use
Looks like they’re using the Dewalt Brushless First Fix Framing Nail Gun here, and the results look great!
Vertical grain is king
I would love to try it but you don't reply to emails !!
balau is from my country. Slightly less strength than ipe but with similar durability. The clear advantage than ipe is in stability in high humidity area
We apologise, we aim to reply to all our customer emails as efficiently as possible! Please if you’re still having trouble getting a hold of us, give us a call on 01277 890783
What are the pallet wood that they use to ship ipe in?
Does it resist rot? I don't think so.
Douglas Fir can be particularly rot-resistant. Of course there is always the option to treat as well to maintain the timber
Stunning indeed😍🔥🪵🪵
what's the song?
Pixies Where is my Mind
Nice
Ippy hardwood decking made me chuckle. Surely if you are in the industry you should know it's pronounced eepay.
Thats " IPE"
Looks fantastic so easy to put up when you know where to start we’ll done and so well explained thank you Larrysullivan
What product did they use to refresh the wood?
They have used the Net-Trol wood cleaner and Textrol oil here
Im having real trouble with the stainless spax screws mentioned here. Im driving them in using a makita impact driver with a T15 bit - but pretty much every board I get one that rounds off the screw head leaving me to have to hammer it in the last few millimetres. I was using an impact bit and thought it may be that causing the problem so i switched to a standard one but the problem persists. I wondered if there's something im missing? they're eye wateringly expensive these screws - I wasnt expecting to encounter such an issue.
lol u screeen recorded somone else’s clip then didn’t even crop it
No, our own video just imported from Instagram. Hope you enjoyed
@@southgatetimbercompany Oh damn bro my b Sorry for hatting
Im from Indonesia ready for export yellow balau
😞 ρяσмσѕм
Nice Timber ❤️
Horizontal batons? What about air circulation?
Omg just saw your van, love you!!
I wish RUclips never took away the thumb down count
in the first minute I noticed something which is not true... yellow balau is not a cost effective decking, if anything is one of the most expensive ones
wow
Do you sell 4 by 1 or 4 by 2 cedar timber?
Hi. I think you need to take some time and take a quick tour of Woodprix website to find out how to do this.
Would love to see a follow up video of the cedral click cladding
Where can I purchase osmo oil 420 from? Seems hard to find in the United States.
Very good and invaluable demonstration and useful to know how to fit panels, fixtures and fittings
just google Woodprix :))
At last a video that isn't in a hurry, is comprehensive, and gives the whys and wherefores. You've probably sold me on the product. Thanks.
How did put on the oil to give it a coat and how many coats did you give it Thanks
