In my day - 60s - we ran the motors rich so flight was slower but at 90 degree and tighter flicks the motor would lean out and help tighten the turn. I still recall the set routine with horizontal and vertical and overhead 8s, triangle 8s, square 8s, etc. 40" span running OS Max 35 motors.

Wow, is that the clearest/best air day ever in the LA Basin? A typical day, you can just about tell those mountains exist, this looks pristine!

Good video - it was dark in real life, too! I got a few hits from dead air on this flight, particularly the inside loops, vertical 8, and overhead 8. Vertical 8 in particular, I got killed in the intersection on the way up both times, I just couldn't get it to turn where it was supposed to so it floated high. Second round flight was somewhat better and the conditions were much easier.
