"You Didn't Play It Long Enough"
Kind of a similar video as my last upload, but I think it delivers a unique message on it's on even though I reused some examples. I talk about how the age old saying of "You didn't play long enough" shifts all of the responsibility onto the player if they don't enjoy the opening hours of a game. I think game studios need to be clear with the audience and define what to expect from a game in the first 3 hours, rather than punishing you for no reason by boring you out of your mind.
I use examples from Final Fantasy 13, some Bethesda games like Skyrim, Fallout, and Oblivion, Red Dead Redemption 2, Cyberpunk 2077, and more!
I really hope that you enjoy this video, like I've said a few times ...

Why I Avoid “Fix-It-Later” Games
Просмотров 3,4 тыс.16 часов назад
I spill a bunch of my own opinions this video... so I hope you enjoy! I talk about first impressions in games, "fix it later" games, and when games improve over time. I'm not sure why I'm like this, but when a game has a rocky start, and eventually is fixed or improved, I still can't find the energy to play it. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I think this is mostly a psychological thing, but...
The Three Types of Bethesda Fans Explained
Просмотров 7 тыс.День назад
I had a ton of fun making this video, easily the most time I've ever spent editing a Bethesda video. In this video I compare fans of the big Bethesda games like Skyrim, Starfield, Fallout, and others. Obviously it's not a *serious* explanation of the fan base, just a lil video I thought would be funny :) Please let me know what you think in the comments! I'd like to know what fan category you r...
Starfield Updates Are Lazy
Просмотров 14 тыс.14 дней назад
I understand that these are free creation updates, but they're also updates made by Bethesda and in my opinion they flat out suck. I have yet to see a Starfield update or DLC that actually looks like I'd want to give it a shot, and I feel like a large portion of Bethesda fans feel the same. Hopefully you'll enjoy yet another Starfield rant... hopefully it's the last one for a while. Please Subs...

Sorry for the inconsistent uploads recently. I will admit this isn't my best video ever... I really liked the message I put together though so I hope you watch all the way through and tell me your thoughts! New video is already in production and it's way better :) Thanks a bunch and please subscribe if you enjoyed! Thanks
Starfield Is STARVED Of Content
Просмотров 38 тыс.Месяц назад
THIS VIDEO IS MY OPINION I talk about how Hello Games is able to push out No Man's Sky updates sometimes 3 or 4 times a year, each with exciting and new content that can be explored for hours and hours. Starfield lacks these updates, even with more funding and more developers, somehow Bethesda doesn't seem to be able to keep up with smaller studios, Hello Games being an example. I hope you like...
Todd Howard: A Retrospective

My Wishlist For The Elder Scrolls VI
Просмотров 3,5 тыс.Месяц назад
This may trigger a few of you, but just hear me out. Considering The Elder Scrolls 6 is currently in full development, I thought it would be a good time to get a few of the ideas I've had onto youtube about what it may look like. Of course this isn't all of my thoughts on the next Elder Scrolls Game, but I hope to make more videos about this topic the more I think about it. If you enjoyed pleas...
REACTING To What Bethesda Games YOU Would Want To Relive

This video is a bit different than what I usually upload... It's still Bethesda related though so don't freak out. I react and comment on what Bethesda games you guys would want to play again for the first time. Games like Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3, and Fallout 4.. as well as some unexpected comments I recieved. If you like this video please make sure to subscribe for more. I've got other con...
Bethesda’s Nostalgia Factor: What Happened?
Просмотров 8 тыс.Месяц назад
I feel that most of the older games felt nostalgic, but even more than that, they always feel fresh. Everytime I launch Oblifvion or Fallout 3 I get a sense of warmth, why is that? I talk also about how Starfield didn’t really make me feel this way. I hope that the Elder Scrolls 6 kind of revives this nostalgic feeling the older games gave me. This isn’t meant to be another “Starfield hate” vid...
Does Bethesda Need A Different Game Engine?
Просмотров 23 тыс.Месяц назад
Bethesda has been using the Creation engine since Skyrim released in 2011. Recently I've began to wonder if it's still a good engine for them to be using considering the negative feedback that Starfield received. I know that it's not entirely the fault of Creation Engine for what Starfield was lacking, there's many other problems with the game in my opinion than just the engine. In this video t...
Dear Bethesda
Просмотров 29 тыс.Месяц назад
THIS VIDEO IS MY OPINION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have never made a video like this, but I promise I usually don't get this heated. It really sucks to see Bethesda go the opposite way of improvement. I really had high hopes that they might turn a new leaf with Shattered Space (like how Phantom Liberty did for Cyberpunk). I hope that I can get AT LEAST a fraction of my hope back for their future releas...
I guess I count as a boomer in this case.... Fuck Oblivion was goooooooood though! lmao.
I'm just not that hard to please. I'm sorry a lot of players are, but it's just how I am. I didn't feel i "trudged through boring to get to good" with Cyberpunk. I played a lot of Fallout 76 and have put 3 plus days altogether so far into Starfield.
Waiting a year for every 'big' release has made gaming pretty fun for me this past ten years.
Bethesda is the worst, but you'll NEVER convince me that I should respect Hello. Their CEO blatantly lied about the game, and many of us never went back to it after the initial dumpster fire. They took my money under false pretences and wasted my time. Murray will never repay that or regain my trust. Just like Lying Howard will not after Fallout 76. Fool me once...
Great video, i see great potential on your channel and would like to sponsor your next videos. i will be sending an mail with the details. -Gremory Games
Interesting when you compare red dead 2 and the witcher 3. I didn't wind the opening sequence of red dead 2 uninteresting in the slightest. I was very confused with some of the dialogue, with all the mentioning of people and events I had no idea about, but overall I found the dilemma the game puts you in pretty interesting. In that sense I didn't mind it. Plus, once you finish the game, you interpret the opening sequence wayyyyy differently on a second playthrough, which, for me, is added interest. My point is I think is that what is "interesting" is subjective. I can imagine for those final fantasy players there must've been some kind of hook that kept them playing, that you didn't see, or find that appealing. If you stopped playing it after a certain point, and they didn't, what's the cause of that difference?
this vids like a breath of fresh air. As much as there were things i didn't like about fallout 4 i still dumbed so many hours into it, it's just a good game you know. Enough to keep you hooked. That was like, my foray. then, I tried skyrim. I actually tried skyrim before fallout 4, but my computer was so shit i just didn't. Anyways. Skyrim was awesome, but then i just kept on modding the ever loving shit out of it and i never got what i wanted. I hated the combat. Like, it was sorta love hate thing. I was literally so hell bent on it I tried to learn modding it myself. Then i realized that the modding tools were just like the games. I don't remember if they were bugged, but i do remember being like "holy fuck, there are mods for the modding tools." Because, there are mods for the modding tools. Like I literally could not. Add to that it was in bethesda's own coding language I was like "fuck that!" uninstalled skyrim. I never looked back. Not sayin skyrim is bad but, like, the combat is just BLAH man the fuck
I'm a boomer and im not even a boomer
I started with Skyrim and as someone currently replaying Skyrim I have to agree with you. I also respect those who enjoyed starfield. I like the starfield as well but definitely not as much as the previous Bethesda games and it really has to do with the lack good exploration. Still though I do check out mods for starfield every now and then and see if there’s a mod that will get me to reinstall the game. I really need some more mass effect and Star Wars mods.
A game has two hours to grab my attention and interest. If a game wants more than two hours, the dev can go to Valve and lean on GabeN to lengthen the refund window.
Will you talk about the controversy behind Fallout: Ashfall? Two writers for Fallout: Ashfall named Allout Monte and Krimson Graey discovered that the previous project lead was a transgender bisexual who wanted to inject pronouns and transgender level design into Fallout: New Vegas.
The whole "game gets good after X hours" thing is even worse when you're an adult with responsibilities (family, job etc) and that time to reach this point? Those are valuable minutes and hours that you will never get back. Sure you can play long games, but chance that you finish them? Is not great, even with massive dedication you hope that you won't get burnour before reaching final quarter of the game... when that happen even if you HAVE time you might just give up and play something else. Because despite all those preacher repeating "gaming is dying" (cause they only focus on AAA products that rarely care about fun) your backlog still grow.
Reminds me of some guy telling me I needed more than 100 hours in the RLcraft MC modpack for it to start “getting to the good part.” Like dude if the first 10 were a slog I’m just going to do something else thats actually fun.
It's a shame about Cyberpunk as it really is amazing now (probably the best game I played this year), but that launch was so horrible some people will never give it a chance (understandably). Final Fantasy 13, no... the systems were good, but the game was all bad, it got better after 20hrs but not GOOD.
Lies, I play between reloads.
Ehh I had a good time in cyberpunk on the series x and pc
"Fix-it-later" is becoming the industry standard. It's called "Early Access". Now sometimes early access works. Take Valheim. They came in with 5 really solid biomes and a great initial experience that hooked you quickly. So it's been fine waiting for the rest of the game. But not every dev will do that and fall back on the "just wait till 1.0" for poor work. If they ever pull the game out of Early Access.
Just play Tetris or old arcade games most of these takes are just bs against games with NARRATIVE/STORYTELLING aka you purposely play games (JRPG) that have a Storytelling focus.
damn bro REALLY loves oblivion and skyrim lmao
new we wait for inevitable "Why are games so short" or "The pacing in games are way to fast" Just to be clear, short games can be great, the old cod campaigns of 4 hours were amazing, but if I like something.............I want more of it. I'd rather play a game like vermintide for 500 hours where being able to get to the point of playing on the hardest difficulty (which can take like 20 - 50 hours) is like the tutorial and the real fun begins when you play on legend with a few buddies and always have a fun fallback, than play a 4 hour game and just boop ends in 1 day. ESPECIALLY if they cost the same.
people are already back to sucking off CDPR what a fuckng shame.
Aw dang I missed the stream! Maybe do a community post of the dates and times you plan to stream :) More of us can be here that way!
That’s actually a good idea ! I’ll do that next time!
Hey man I heard you mention your non Bethesda videos not getting as much attention. I’m sure you’re aware of this but just in case I wanted to let you know it’s just the algorithm, your Bethesda videos get recommended more for some reason. I think you branching out to other games with the same video format is equally as valuable its just doesn’t get RUclipss Ai algorthimic brain as fired up.
I appreciate the comment Brent! Yeah I do enjoy taking a break from Bethesda content, I still get lots of comments though. I enjoy seeing people debate 😂 🤝
Starfield slander is gonna be my favorite genre for the next 4 years.
ADHD. Nuff said.
Shitty games that suck, you mean.
3:59 You gotta be one hell of an impatient kid if you couldn't wait going thru the start of Red Dead Redemption 2. I think this video is the complaint of people with NO sense of immersion or imagination and are just like "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme now!" Now Starfiedl, Starfield is boring c r a p.
Even still I try to slog through a bad game for at least 5 hours before I can say the game is bad. But yes a game shouldn’t take 10 hours before it starts to get good! It doesn’t entirely need to grab your attention right away but it shouldn’t take forever before it starts to get good!
This is the most zoomer analysis I have seen. Most enjoyable things in life, especially in the world of gaming require trudging through difficulty or plain boredom to start of with. Playing Osu! is impossible for a new player because they have to learn the game and most give up early on. Rust is impossblie and unkind game to new players and most burn out after just a day of playing. Most skill or strategy base game down to chess are gonna require you to invest time early on that will be boring af if you dont have the normal level of dopamine which most people lack nowadays. With your mentality you are never gonna enjoy all these games. Poor ass zoomer attention span.
I’m afraid to try new games because I’ve already sunk thousands of hours into Skyrim, Oblivion and ESO.
This actually happened to me in skyrim..never played rpgs so i was confused and got stuck in jail first day i played and almost quit...forced myself to come back the next day and figure it out and it became probably my favorite game of all time..
Makes total sense. Bethesda “poked the bear” and the bear poked back. They can learn from this. Let’s hope that they do.
What's even worse are games that start out good and then fizzle out a few hours in, and sadly that's even more common.
The video mentions the "Steam graveyard", and I've got one on my account with games that stalled out at 15-20 hours or so. Games I bought on Friday after getting home from work, played over the weekend...and never touched again.
1:12 Literally me 🥲
Great video! I use to force myself through games (and shamefully trophies/achievements) but I am 38 now. My time is the most valuable currency. A game has to be complete on day one for me to give is a chance. I’ve been burned too many times. I have a back log of games that are now completed because I passed them up. No mans sky was one of them. I waited. The payoff feels so worth it but that should never be the case. Games need to be completed. I’m glad that more and more gamers are starting to see this.
In the case of games like Destiny I think if something about the feeling of the gunplay and base combat loop doesn't grab you right away, then there's a good chance you're probably still not going to like it all that much 100, 200, 300+ hours later either. I also feel like a lot of the "It gets good later!" people have attached themselves to some aspect of the game they're talking about that isn't really the game's doing. MMOs are a good example of this where people will often bring up about how great the community or such is as if it is in any way proof of the actual game itself being good.
5l4:31 every time ive played RdR2 at my friends i had a great time. Every time i started the game on my own i got bored out of my mind, ive wanted to play it for years but just cant get past the intro. Mods feel like cheating to me, and thus i will probably never play the game.
"unpaid internship" \Its worse than that, you are a buyer, a consumer who paid full price or worse 100 bucks for early access to be a beta tester of an unfinished boring repettive game. PHOKIN PRONOUNS, MODERN DAY CALIFORNIAN SHT, BECAUSE THATS ALL WE PHOKIN NOW...To quote the starfield pronouns guy. He played it for 8 hours and went insane. As for cyberpunk, its funny because you can see how the game initially was gonna be like san andreas, and red dead redemption, you were suppose to do alot of jobs with jackie to start caring about him so when he died it would have more impact, instead they turned those jobs into a montage and the game was shorter than witcher 3. The reason oblivion start is so over the top was because the last 2 games morrowind and daggerfall were so boring, you had to spent 30-50 hours before you get it, morrowind is best when you have played it many times and you know what you are doing and which quests to do that are made for your class and where these quest are, meanwhile a new player has no idea what to do or where to go. Honestly fallout 4 failed hard at grabing you by forgetting the main quest and doing farming stuff. New vegas has perfected the pacing in their main quest, it never gets boring.
I get where you're coming from, but part of the issue with this is that when you spend time in a world, you CAN often become more immersed and appreciate what's there when you spend more time. Another part of all this, is that there is always a learning period where you're trying to figure out how to play and what's expected of you. Sometimes learning is annoying, though sometimes these intro areas can be super well done and engaging. It can take time learn who the characters are, how interesting they are or how intricate and rewarding unravelling the story can be. You don't often get all of the gameplay enjoyment immediately jumping into a game. Ultimately, patience can pay off immensely in the end, or, you may end up frustrated even after pushing through. That's just the type of 1st world problem we're presented with when trying a new game.
I completely agree with this as a concept; of not having to get to the good part. However, I disagree with cyberpunk. I found it to be a pretty good intro hook. I did nomad first playthrough, it immediately gave you the feeling of how hostile the world is, the danger your character is involved in. The sheriff being a dick to you, then bribing the border guard; and almost immediately getting into a shootout, then that little scene plays showing your past 6 months in NC, it was entertaining enough. Then the next mission you can skip the combat tutorial, and the scav rescue mission begins, and the hardest combat track ever drops, immediately making you want to drop stealth and go guns blazing, then after another car shootout, and the car ride cutscene the game world is open, there always felt like a fair balance between story and action, and that took what, an hour? Give or take depending how slow you are. After that point, I find the world pretty open and fun, plenty of good parts as soon as you get freedom, aside from story set pieces. Contrast this to my favourite elder scrolls game, oblivion. Even as a kid, I fuckin HATED the tutorial dungeon, it went on for so, so long. It may be the worst out of the 3 3D TES games. But people still love that game, as do I Anyway, great video as always bro, glad you liked stellaris lol, it’s the only Microsoft spreadsheet game I enjoy, if you’re looking for a cool new type of game (if you haven’t played it yet) check out kenshi!
people told me "skyrim gets good"... and then i was done with the game and sidemissions and get super disapointed that i now get robbed by my own clansmembers.. CP2077 streetkid intro is good. the other 2 are too slow IMO. after that it was even at launch way better than any modern game from ubisoft, bethesda, EA etc... yes performance was bad. but it still was better than starfield tbh, considering the insane difference in size... bethesda could never create night city that runs stable at all above 30 FPS starfield could become good even after 10h of mainstory... i couldnt sit through the first 2h lol "pirate questline"? more like undercover cop acting like a pirate... then after each mission go through 10 loading screens, just so you can continue... at the end it always depends on the game. i sat through +1000h till i was able to somewhat enjoy "escape from tarkov". the reward? becoming better at the game, learn about the lore and make friends. im an adult. if i want ice cream and cookies for dinner, i dont have to eat veggies i dislike, bevor i eat the things i want. i just buy ice cream and cookies... and if the cookie brand now sells veggies in their pack, that only unlocks the cookies after i ate the veggies... well i just get a different cookie brand then right? the time is over where there wasnt enough options to not have to sit through hours of mid to bad or terrible gameplay and story... AAA started to make those games we never played on old consoles and wonder why we wont buy them for full price. if writer cant write good stories, dont include them... fire them and get a better one cuz i aint buying their mid shiid.... cuz "good" is often "aight" and not "damn thats good"
i like you dog. But perhaps progressive storylines and themes just aren't your cup of tea. There's nothing wrong with that, it's just a matter of preference really.
yaa. a game is suppose to be fun to play from the beginning to end. too many designers spend too much making games into chores to artificially pad out the time. sandboxes atleast have the excuse that it's all about gathering resources to build up to absurd sillyness and they dont make the grind tedius and chorelike.
On the flip side you get very good experience at start but rest is padding, instead of a full experience many have come to expect.
I DIDNT ENJOY SKYRIM. Feels good to say it 😂
Did my man seriously use Fallout 4 as an example of a good start, with that slogfest of an intro that nobody likes playing for a second time, then said "finding Shaun" - something players famously don't give a rat's ass about (why would you? You were told that you have a son... which you spend about 30 seconds with in total and thus have neither time nor reason to actually care about him being kidnapped) - is a hook? Lol. Lmao, even. That one bad point was almost enough to undermine the entire video.
