ANSYS CFD Tutorial: Multi-Phase Flow | Drag on Hull of a Boat
Welcome back to The Engineering Guide! In today's video, we will be setting up a CFD Fluent simulation to model and analyze multi-phase flow, using the drag on the hull of a boat as an example use case. At first, we will take a look at the problem to become familiar with the geometry, boundary conditions and other variables that may be of importance. We will then jump into workbench and use fluent to perform the simulation.
In this tutorial, you will learn:
🔍 How to plot the geometry in SpaceClaim
🔍 How to mesh the geometry using body of influence sizing
🔍 How to initialize the simulation models
🔍 How to implement boundary conditions
🔍 How to plot drag
🔍 How to plot velocity and pressure contou...

@@souravkanthal2796 problem is when doing simulation of ship resistance in ansys we need to adjust inflation to y+=1 requirements and it messed up the orthogonal quality and lead to floating point exceptions error.

Great video, very informative. Apologies to ask however, have you tried this example with a smaller Reynolds Number? I am currently trying to perform a CFD study on the NACA4415 aerofoil but at a Reynolds number at 82,000 however, my results do not align to literature or Javafoil. I have tried using the different viscous models in ANSYS but nothing seems to work. Thank you

Good job! In my opinion, a possible failure could be due to the fact that titanium and carbon epoxy matrix have very different elastic moduli. So, under the same load (pressure), assuming the thicknesses are similar, each material will experience a different deformation. As a result, the union of both pieces will be subjected to very high stresses. So, I see the last alternative you mentioned as the most probable one.
